Went here on a whim and it worked out!

My friend and I went here this past Saturday just to get a drink with my friend around 8pm.  I had heard about Magnet before but never went there.   There was no cover, Im assuming bc we got there before any party was set to start.  The place was pretty empty, but we were ok with that because we didn't want to be bothered with a huge crowd.  The drink options are good, we took a while deciding and before we could we ran into some more people that we knew.  The bartender noticed we were having trouble so he made us a sample of a drink.   He was EXTREMELY friendly and patient!  I had to take my rating down a star because the drink I decided on he said he couldnt make b/c they didnt have all of the ingredients.  We got up to take some pics, and the bartender took our group shot, he tended to us really well.  Though, I took my review down another notch because the drinks though they tasted good, didn't pack the punch I thought they should.
This is a great neighborhood spot to watch the game, grab a drink, and not have to worry about large crowds.  I left around 10, and there were more people there by the time I left, so I am assuming thats the time most people come.
    I will definitely be back!

This place...I don't mind it. You can't compare it to a hot lounge or nightclub in the city obviously, because it's a local establishment and it acts as such, which I can appreciate. The food is peace for what it is and the drinks are good. Bartenders are always polite and I never get frisked by the bouncers to the point where I feel like I need to go file a police report, which sometimes that's how these bouncers who take their jobs too seriously tend to make you feel. My only gripe is the bathroom line which gets rediculously long since they only have 2 unisex stalls, but they're always clean. All in all, for a cool local spot that calls for no bridge tolls, crazy parking fees, or cover charge - I say Magnet fits the bill.

I just came back from my baby shower which was held at this spot and I am highly UPSET!!!!! So much so that I had to log on and write my review NOW. I booked and communicated with one owner who assured me that everything would be great. I even called and confirmed with him the week of the shower and again he said everything is taken care of.

The day of the shower we were told to be there for 11:00 to set up. We get there and the spot is closed. The manager finally comes and the place was FILTHY, sticky floors, leftover cake from the previous party, dirty bathrooms and all! The worst part is that they did not have a crew to clean and my decorating crew had to clean, who does that.....

When my husband spoke to the second manager everything we agreed on with the first manager was completely the opposite and we had to change the flow of the event.

If I could give this spot a negative 1 I would. DO NOT HAVE YOUR EVENT AT THIS VENUE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE DISAPPOINTED!!!

I'm giving this spot 1 star. If I could give them no stars I would. I came to the spot for my cousin's birthday this past Saturday night, Had on fresh dress boots(Not Timbs! They were Aldo style clean ass shoes, high tops so they called them boots.) nice jeans nice button up fresh all around. The bouncers looks at the dude in front of me with sneakers on and says.. "Partner you're going to have to pull those pants over your kicks" so the dude does and he lets him in. Then looks at me and says.. "Sorry I'm not letting you in with those shoes" I was like WTF???  everyone on the line was baffled.. 6 other ppl on the line was sent away 3 had sneakers.. I don't know what this establishment is about but that was horrible. I never heard of them. only reason I went was because my cousin said they had blessed reggae tunes.. but I'm most def not going back. So yes... Dre never made it inside. LMAO.

I came here for my best friends birthday so i tried so hard to give this place the benefit of the doubt. But after i paid $10 for a jack & ginger... F.O.H.

And no. It was not a large one or one that came in a glass. I might have let it pass otherwise.

But okay, I will say that the place is very swanky and that the atmosphere was great. When we got there on a Friday night (day before new year's eve) we were excited because my friend lives in the boonies and we've always had to brave an hour train ride to get to a club or worthwhile bar. This was just a quick walk over the bridge and it looked pretty swanky. The bouncers where nice and the exterior looked nice. $2 for coat check wasn't a big deal. Did get checked at the entrance. Comes with the territory.

When we walked in we immediately noticed the fineness overload. I'd say it was 90% men, 10% women. Not a bad situation if I say so myself. The place was bumping with good music and it wasn't packed at all at 11. But then again, it is NY and the party doesn't really start until 1.

I would have given this place 3.5 stars if it wasn't for the straight up wack bartender. Seriously. She had to be new. She just had to be. I mean she charged $10 for my LOUSY jack and ginger. Then she charged $10 for my friend's TERRIBLE long island. Um.........no. Forgive me, but I don't think we're in Manhattan Dorothy. There at least I get it in a glass.

And then she had the nerve to charge $10 for my other friend's shot of jack with a twist of lime. I just can't. It must have been a $10 you call it night or some bullish.

The dancing was interesting. It filled up after 12ish and the crowd was an interesting mix of women showing off their birth canals, the men interested in seeing it, men and women sort of just standing in lines around the bar and small dance floor doing a two step, and those getting down on the dance floor. It was pretty fun, though some might be turned off by the straight hour+ of all reggae type music one dj played. But overall the music was pretty good.

And I appreciate how clean the bathrooms were, even though there are only 2 of them.

Overall, it seems like a chill place to go to, and I'll more than likely come back when I'm in that area again. Just don't bothering ordering a drink.

Every time before I come to Magnet, I try to find it on Yelp, and every time, I am let down at that instant right before I enter the grand ol' sports venue.  I finally found out how to add Magnet Sports & Entertainment Lounge to Yelp, and I'm soooo happy because I want to spread the good word!! I always come to Magnet because it's very convenient and very free =).  Magnet is a beautiful, brand new sports bar/lounge.  It's very spacious and sleek inside, with a lot of added touches that really make this place sparkle and shine.  The lighting is perfect; far from cheesy.  Most places do colored lights and then you imagine in your head what it's like to be tripping on drugs (yes I said imagine because I don't do drugs!). The colored lights plus the lighting from the crystal clear high def TVs illuminate the dim environment to a perfect blend; a shade of seduction.  AS for the drinks...they are well made and decently priced.  I don't recall exactly how much, but I want to say an average drink will run you $10-12, and I'm talking a strong CoCoLoso. The peanuts on the bar are always a snacking option if that's your thing.  While I love Magnet itself, and could continue to rave on about it, I have to give my reasoning for a 4 star review and not a 5 star one.

You see my thing is when I go out I LOVE to dance.  There are so many tiny crammed bars that play awesome music, and by the end of the night the drunkies are bound to be dancing one way or another because they've been waiting all night for it to be acceptable in such small place.  That is unfortunately not the case with Magnet Lounge.  When I arrive somewhere at 2:30 am, I can pretty much get a sense of how the rest of the night being is going to go.   Magnet's crowd (when I go) is typically 90% Jamaican, and boy do I love me some Jamaican folk.  The problem is that these are some of the stiffest Jamaicans I ever did see! There's all this space, I'm at this large, gorgeous, venue that's pumping with my favorite dancehall, and nobody blinks an eye. So now in my little light skinned head I am rendering up a plan to get all these people to start moving (hello dance capital of the east?!) and that's how its been and will be every time I go.

Do I blame Magnet itself for the lack of happy feet? or the people? Well it's hard to say.  The way that it's set up makes me think that they want their clientele movin and grooving; on the flipside they don't do much of anything to promote any sort of booty hoppin, rump shaking, duty windin', madness!

All in all, I will keep bringing my one-of-a-kind, moving behind, to Magnet Sports & Entertainment Lounge and hopefully one of these nights I will really get the party poppin!
