Malarkey's is a great place, probably the most happening place in Wausau... The owners Tyler and Todd are welcoming and very fun... Tyler always has the best bands and Todd makes a great mixed drink, really great atmosphere more modern and artsy.. They have quite the selection of beer on tap and if you have too much fun on a Saturday night you can show up the very next morning to have the best bloody Mary and or brunch at the attached restaurant Townies. Definitely a place to check out if your ever travelling up north...
Review Source:This place is the best night spot in Wausau for anyone under 50. Â Trendy upscale place. Â Many times will have good bands on Fridays and Saturdays. Â Right on the 400 Block square, so a great location. Â We often end up here after dinner. Â Great place to meet up with friends. Â Bar offers many good beers on tap, and bartenders do a great job of mixing drinks. Â Needless to say, St Patrick's Day here is off the charts!
Review Source:Only been to a handful of Wisconsin bars in my life, this could be the best.
Long bar area, great bottle, shelf, & on tap selection. Â Wisconsin prices (which still stun this New Yorker). Â And pretty solid live music.
Just a cool vibe and enough space to spread your stuff out. Â I need some room to do my drinkin & conversing. Â I'm sure you get it.
Surprising how big it is.
Also dig the small main st type feel to the area.
They have Spotted Cow on tap so they already get a bump in my book...although every bar in Wisconsin get's an extra star by that definition.
Came here after a wedding and had an absolute blast. They had live music playing and graffiti in the bathroom. Perfect late night drinking establishment.
It's dirty, which is awesome.
While its hard to say based on 1 drink, Malarkey's seems like a cool hangout. Â Nice selection of premium gins, scotches and Irish whiskey. Â Lots of craft beers on tap. Â Couldn't really tell about the clientele with a concert going on in the square across the street. Â Only downside was my martini, ordered with a twist came with olives. Â I chalk that up to my bartender being deaf - no, really, she was!
Review Source:Cool bar! We stopped by after dinner for a night cap & were surprised to be one of five people in the entire place. There was a band playing later on, so I imagine it got busier as the night progressed (we left around 8p).
I'd like to come back later in the evening to see what it's like with a packed house!
Updated review:
I can't believe no one has reviewed this place yet. I like this place better than I did a couple of years ago, mostly because the band was good and service also pretty good. You can meet some cool peeps here.. and also some frat-boy like dooshbaggies. Seems to be a pretty popular nightlife spot for Wausau, which is really lacking in decent nightlife spots.
