I've tried pretty much everything on the menu here, and it's almost never disappointing (even the vegetarian platter), although their signature item is definitely their gyro sandwich, which you just can't go wrong with. Â The couple who own the joint are incredibly nice and at least one of them is almost always working. Â My major complaint is that while it is set up as a fast-food casual dining type place, the food sometimes takes 10-15 minutes to receive. Â Worth it? Â I'd have to say yes.
Review Source:Will definitely go back. Â Been wanting to go here & check it out as I love Mediterranean food. Â Went for lunch & got the gyro sandwich & added a few falafels, to try out for the first time. Â I have to say the gyro was good. Â The meat inside was pretty delicious, & the sandwich came with fries & a drink. Â One of my companions got the hummus, which was decent & have to say that I enjoyed my first falafel. Â Interior leaves a little to be desired, but I much prefer a place that serves great food & this is probably where the money here is spent. Great lunch spot, especially if you are looking for something unique.
Review Source:Ok yes, the restaurant's in an old fast-food / fried chicken building. But the owner and staff are a delight, and they are making an effort to improve the interior (the atmosphere might be beyond salvation, but the food is worth it!) Love the gyro sandwich with extra tzatziki sauce, mmm. French fries are a perfect complement to the Mediterranean fare. The lamb is good, too. Have been many times and have never been disappointed. I bring friends often and they love it, too!
Review Source:One of my favorites in Evansville! The owner and workers are always very friendly. Service is always good. And the food is yummy!! I usually get the Gyro (lamb w/ lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and a tzatziki sauce aka yogurt sauce) Make it a combo with fries and a drink. Or get a Greek salad on the side. They also have the standard Mediterranean food--hummus, falafels, pita bread, baba ghanoush. Fast and good. And make sure to save some room for baklava for dessert.
Review Source:Note: Â This rating is skewed because I come from Chicago where there is a lot of Mediterranean restaurants.
Based on the Yelp reviews and Urbanspoon, I figure I would give this Mediterranean place a try. Â My coworkers and I go in on a Tuesday night. Â Place was almost empty, but we thought "Hey this could be a hit or miss." Â So I ordered the Combination Platter for $12.99. Â It comes with Shish Kabob, Kafta Kabob, Chicken Kabob and Gyro meat, salad, rice, and pita bread. Â That sounds like a ton of food right? Â Well... it wasn't a huge amount of food for $12.99 (2 pieces of Shish Kabob, 2 pieces of Kafta Kabob, 2 pieces of Chicken Kabob, and 4 slices of Gryo meat). Â Yes, I was full after I ate everything, but for $13.99 at Gerst I got a huge Kielbasah with 2 sides. Â The food fit on 1 regular plate. Â
Now onto the food, Chicken Kabob was dry, Shish Kabob was tough, Kafta Kabob was dry. Â The Kabobs weren't seasoned to my liking (although I do like my food a bit more on the salty side). Â Gyro meat was good. Â Greek Salad was good. Â Rice was unseasoned. Â The side of Hummus we got was good. Â No Baklava for dessert as they do not make their own Baklava, but get it shipped from Detroit!!! Â How can you charge $1.99 for a piece of Baklava that you didn't make??!!!
If you're use to good Mediterranean food, then stay away from here. Â You will be disappointed.
I've had the Gyro here twice now and its been good both times. It comes with lettuce, tomato, onions and cucumber sauce. It $6.50 for just the gyro but it was enough to fill me up. The atmosphere here is like that of any other fast food place but it's a nice change from pizza and burgers.
