I will never go to this place again first of all the table was dirty and sticky..we ordered empanadas and they ran out!!! then they bring our food which I ordered the Langostino estilo Nayarit which was very salty and the plate had alot grease on the bottom of the plate, they also forgot the garlic bread that is suppose to come with the entree. The music was very loud and they had a couple dancing, which had a dozen kids who were running around the place even bumping into our table...the service is horrible...Sorry El Veneno....La Palapa is way better!!!

1st impression...music too loud - I mean deafening loud.. the food wasn't that great at all. The service kept forgetting simple requests like silverware. The food was ok but if you can barely hear who you are with and not even be able to use silverware to eat your food?

They even forgot our appetizer - this place is horrible avoid at all costs.

I went to El Veneno with a friend on a Friday night,  To my suprise the place was not packed. We were able to pick out our seats and parking was plentyfull,  First of all I had to take a star off because I really don't like it when resturants allow solicitors. It was somewhat annoying being approached every few minutes by someone selling gum, movies, candy, ect.  Also the mariachi they had that night was awful, and if you ask me if the mariach is not provided  by the resturant (which they were not) they really shouldn't be there, especially in a space that small place like that.  I was really loving the whole BYOB, which is great.  The food was awsome.  We ordered empandas de camaron for an appitizer.  They were great.  I had the pinapple seafood platter which was pretty good, I kinda felt like they overstuffed it with octopuss as opposed to shrimps and scallops.  The food was pretty good, If I could give this place 31/2 stars I would.

For the neighborhood its definitely a gem...but there ain't much in the neighborhood. Large portions, decent price. I had fried Tilapia....loved it. I wish they had cocktail or horseradish sauce for the raw oysters though.

My fiance didn't like it though....probably because my fish still had its head on when they served it to me.

So the wife and I were craving some good ol Mexican seafood. Didn't feel like heading to the Ashland and Augusta location(they really are awesome over there, just bad parking and too small for Friday night) And didn't quite wanna head to 66th and Pulaski either. So thanks to google I came across this Brighton park location, so new the most recent google pic was when it was a closed down banquet hall. Right off the bat I had a comfy feel for it for these reasons:

    1) A quick shot off 55 exiting at Kedzie or Pulaski
    2) Lot with ample parking
    3) Although they DO HAVE a liquor license, I brought my 6 pack of pacifico and they still gave me the bucket with ice! ..Awesomeness

Started with the shrimp empanadas (4 for $6) and they are the perfect appetizer with the crispy shell and diced peppery shrimp. Ordered the langostinos in butter sauce, doesn't appear to be the season for these as they are huge in warm weather months. But nonetheless still very good. Wife had the stuffed fish with all the seafood you can think of, its phenomenal. So six beers and an undone zipper later I find myself very satisfied. The extra 15 min drive to Brighton park is well worth the convenience and lack of hassle. Good Service, Good food, Good portions, all at reasonable prices. This place is as good as it gets for Mexican Seafood.

The seafood was excellent. I can't say enough about the langostinos. This place unlike the Ashland location in that it has a liquor license, parking lot, and Mariachi Band! I am kind of partial to BYOB,not for the money but for the spontaneous choice of what to bring to dinner. Anywayyyy, this place is closer to the house and having a parking lot is quite convenient. There are a lot of "Marisco" type of restaurants popping up! They don't match the quality of Veneno. I was in Nuevo Vallarta last week and passed a seafood place that I believe is family of the Chicago "El Veneno" restaurants. It was pretty cool!

This 3rd Chicago location of Veneno is so new that I can't even find the address online! I should've wrote it down when I was there, I'm an idiot. Anyways, it's in Brighton Park, a little west of Kedzie on Archer. Right past the walgreens, across from Archer Animal Hospital. SKINNY JEAN FREE ZONE if there ever was one.

So awesome that this is like a mile away from our condo, so the MPL gang can roll over there after flexing a few coronas at our place. Since, unfortunately, unlike the Ashland and Augusta location, this one has a liquor license :( BYOB was awesome, but convenience is even better. So is the fact that they have a parking lot, and the place is I would say 4 times the size of Ashland, maybe bigger. There's definitely room for large parties, they have outdoor seats in the back, and they may have a seperate party room from the looks of the stairs outside going to the second floor.

The same fabulous kitschy atmosphere full of ocean-themed stuff - seagulls, sharks, fish, and those creepy langostinos. I don't know how people eat that, but they look like bugs of the ocean. I get it, so do camarones, but myne don't come in the shell.

So the service was a tad slow, even though it was really dead when we went Thursday at like 8pm. I think she was new. It was dead because no one, not even google, knows it's here yet, and apparently it is a lot busier on weekend days according to my neighbors. I bet, it's a good after-mass place because it is so huge.

The food though...oh the food!!! Better than the other location, and I didn't think that was possible! The ceviche, incredible. That veneno salsa, still made my lips feel like they were on fire but oh so good. The octopus, great! The camarones al ajo, mmm mmm. Same with the diabla. All washed down with a pacifico :)

Yeah we will be back here, hopefully other people start showing up too. They don't know what they are missing.
