Metell's Tiki Bar gets a solid three stars from me. Starting w/ food. Being I was there for an all day affair. I was able to sample the menu for the outdoor patio. The buffalo chicken wrap, chicken fingers, and quesadilla were all good. The French Fries could've been a little crispier for my taste. The drink prices are a little high but is a beach bar. At night provides for live bands and dj's. The price to get on the beach I believe has gone up from previous years but I may be wrong as I don't do the tiki scene as much as others. Would I come back yes but do I look at making this an everyweekend affair no few hits during the summer and I'm happy.
Review Source:I don't even want to give this place one star. I barely go down the shore, and yesterday was the first and last time for me and Tiki bar. Drove about 2 hours with two of my girlfriends to spend the day at the beach and have a few drinks. The minute I walked in a got a bad vibe. We sat at the bar to order drinks and more than one bartender looked at us and just passed us by. It was a wednesday around 2pm, the bar was not busy at all. We waited about 5 minutes before someone actually came to us. Drinks were blah. Then we proceeded to go onto their beach. It was $8. I gave the guy my ID and payed him. My friend hands him her ID and he says that he cannot let her in because her ID is a duplicate (even though it has a barcode, is legit and she uses it everywhere). They called the bouncer over. They did not want to let her in, even though my friends and I are over the legal drinking age. Then I told him I would need a refund if they weren't going to let her onto the beach. We had to follow the girl inside to get a refund while we were holding all our stuff and our drinks. We were standing around trying to finish our drinks so we could leave as fast as possible when the same bouncer comes up to us. He asks us which bartender served us and takes away my friend's drink because she didn't have a proper ID and "it's their policy" (btw I could not find this policy anywhere on the website). We were shocked. He then said he would refund us for the drink, LOL. I told him there was no way I was going up to that bar to get a refund, and that he needed to bring me my money because at this point, I was completely embarrassed that we had to follow them around like a bunch of idiots. I cannot believe how far these people went to prevent us from going on to their beach. I am sure if we were a bunch of 16 year old slutty "guido" girls we would have gotten in no problem. Policy my ass. If that is your policy, it should be stated on the website, or facebook page so people will know to bring 10 forms of ID with them before they drive 2 hours to visit your bar. We went to Jenkinson's for drinks and lunch and did not even get asked for ID. If they wanted to let us in, they could have. Her ID is 100% REAL and LEGAL and she is 24 years old. I hope they felt better about themselves and their big important jobs. Will never go back there again, wasn't even all that to begin with.
Review Source:Went here on a Friday afternoon. Heard great things about the Point Pleasant pizza and while we were excited to start eating it because of it's size, the first bite quickly had us disappointed. The pizza tasted like it was days old, mildly cold, and the service wasn't anything to write home about.
Review Source:Go to Martell's Tiki Bar for the ultimate jersey shore experience. Getting in was a chore and required a $10 cover. This place is huge...indoor/upper deck/lower deck/beach front seating complete with live entertainment. Expect this place to be packed SUPER PACKED with your stereotypical guido/guidette.
To fit in with the crowd, do the GTL: a couple of crunches or bicep curls. wear neon-colored bikinis or muscle tees. Lastly, a deep bronzed tan is a must!
Try the oyster shooters if you are adventurous. Icy frozen margaritas all around to keep you cool for hours and hours of dancing and people watching under the sun. I had a blast here!
Martell's Tiki Bar embodies everything that's awesome about the Jersey Shore. Live bands, great drinks, good food, and being right on the beach, uhm.... I really can't find anything to not love about this place. Tiki Teas are their staple drink and OMG are they delish! Sweet tea vodka is one of those sneaky kinds tho so you have to watch out. They have awesome bar food, ranging from burgers to salads to fish tacos, anyone could find something to munch on. You used to be allowed to drink on the beach but now you have to go to one of the bar areas to partake in some liquor loveliness. That's really lame, but the ambiance of Tiki makes up for the lame factor... I'm always here in the summer. In fact, I was there all weekend!
Review Source:The Tiki Bar is well known to many who frequent the Jersey Shore. Â When the weather is good, it's a great place to have a few drinks and spend time with friends. Â The atmosphere is fun, there is almost always a live band playing dance or caribbean music, the alcohol flows freely, and the clothing is minimal...which can be both good and bad.
The food is average, but few people really go for the food alone. Â Although the lettuce wraps are recommended. Â If you're a beer drinker, the beer tower is a must. Â Who doesn't want to be seen with a tower of beer at their table? Â The fresh squeezed orange juice with vodka is a favorite, I'm not sure what the true name of it is....but we just call it orange goodness. Â
If you're coming to the Tiki bar, get there early, it will get very packed. Â Also have your driver's license handy, as they practically do a back ground check on the way in. Â Depending on who's on stage, there may or may not be a cover charge to enter. Â All in all, it's a fun time with good friends......even for non drinker's like myself.
I would say more 3.5
I've been here a few times, both in the afternoon and at night. Â This is a great spot for people watching. Â It can get very crowded & there is usually a cover charge to get in. Â When it gets packed like that, the line for the restroom gets ridiculous. Â The wait to get to the bar to order a drink can be challenging and just making your way through the crowd gets difficult. Â There is usually live entertainment (aside from the crowd itself) and in my experience, the live music has usually been pretty good. Â I was here most recently over Memorial Day weekend in the afternoon. Â It was great to see Martell's up and running making its comeback from Sandy. Â The line to get in was super long and I wasn't in the mood to deal with crowds, so we didn't stick around. Â It's always nice to be on the beach and enjoy a good day booze, so I'm sure I'll make my way back there soon.
It was my first time going to the "infamous" tiki bar this past weekend, and it's most likely somewhere I'll frequent throughout the summer. I was very disappointed in the tiki tea so next time I must try something else, but the pina coladas tasted good. Besides those two drinks I had a shot of Hennessy which was a very good size fyi, and coronas. The crowd is very friendly, and its a great view of the beach. The only downside is that since it is crowded you're going to be waiting awhile to get serviced, and the long line bathroom lines. I suggest going to the boardwalk bathrooms instead.
Review Source:With much anticipation/hesitation, I finally went to Martell's Tiki Bar on Memorial Day. Â With a group of 3, we headed over in the early evening to grab a few drinks. Â When we arrived, there was no line but there is a $10 cover- which in my option should at least come with a drink ticket.
The place was packed with a lot of jacked/tatted guys and young, half - no - quarter dressed women. Â It wasn't even beach weather (in the low 60s and breezy/chilly) but this didn't stop anyone from wearing minimal clothing. Â In typical Jersey Shore fashion- I witnessed both 1) the biggest butt I've ever seen in person and 2) a bar fight over standing space in a couple of minutes time.
Luckily, we were able to grab a table because someone was getting up as we were approaching- otherwise the tables were packed. Â We ordered a few beers and I tried the Sangria- very weak and didn't even taste like wine. Â The oyster shooters were okay but my friend's had shell on it (mind you, you're supposed to swallow these like a shot, luckily he pre-inspected his and removed the shell). Â We told our server and she thought it was funny and said the bartenders are in a hurry when they prepare things- not quite the apology I was looking for. Â The only food we ordered were the fried green beans which were pretty tasty.
The bathroom line is really long for women but moves fairly quickly. Â A couple of girls started fighting about cutting in line. Â (Funny that there are multiple security guards monitoring the area around the women's bathroom).
Not a relaxing beach experience by any means but somewhere to come with friends and have a few drinks in the summer. Â I wouldn't mind going back, as long as we grab a table.
Kick back to watch the freak show and hit this place up in the summer afternoons to chill out with an ice cold rumrunner while listening to great local bands.
Explore the early to late afternoon gaggle of over-tanned and tatted up roid heads prancing around and hitting on the over-tanned, over-jeweled, big haired, fake-boobed, fake Lee press-on nail chicks. A lot of fist pumping going on and a lot of peeps still living in the 80's. Seems like this part of Jersey is stuck in a time warp. The crowd and scene here is so cheesy at times that it seems surreal, as if we are in a John Hughes film and "Jersey Shore" cast-call combined. God, I love this place!
Can get crazy packed. Many times we have seen a really mixed crowd here that is truly unique. Locals, tourists, bridge & tunnelers. Strong drinks and cold beers at prices that can be expected for a beach bar. You can chill around the bar and band area, or snag a table along the sands of the beach. People watching is epic at Martell's!
Later in the day after most of the Benny's and upper New Jersey-ites have abandoned ship it's a cool locals scene and a great spot to get a bucket of beers and some shrimp or clams on the half shell. Usually a DJ is spinning tunes or another band is on.
Leave with a buzz and hit the boardwalk to test your skills at the arcade games afterwards. Don't worry - the time warp of Martell's will always be there to come back to. Even Hurricane Sandy couldn't keep this place down as they are rebuilding and ready for the summer season. Fist pumping like a champ!
Went last Friday for dinner with my family. The server, I believe his name was Trevor, never came to the table one time after taking the order. Horrible service! Then the guy had the nerve to put the 18% gratuity on the check. I went right up to speak to the manager because I refused to give this guy an 18% tip when he didn't even deserve 5%. This manager, a young woman, stood there and tried to argue with me for 15 minutes about how she felt that I did in fact receive great service from the waiter. It was pretty obvious that she was probably sleeping with him or maybe was his girlfriend cuz I seriously can't imagine any other reason why she was defending this guy. I informed her that we dine there a few times a year and that that would be the last time. Nothing is worse than a cocky waiter who thinks because the gratuity is added that they don't have to work for it.
Review Source:This place is very big which is good because you can go on crazy summer weekends and have a place to stand or sit. They have live bands, several bars, dancing, etc. The downside is the wait for the bathroom as their is almost always a line of biblical proportions on summer weekends. Down a few steps is the "outdoor" bar which is a good chill spot if you want to get away from the madness inside. Even though the inside gets crowded it's usually just by the stage area. Getting a drink can sometimes be a pain in the ass since so many people go here but I've never had a bad time at this place.
Review Source:Came here after the BENNY's have left.
No guidos, no juice-heads, no orange chicks, and no stupid "jersey shore" (actually staten island/brooklyn) accents to annoy me.
Lots of local surfers chilling, lots of local couples chillin, a dope live band kickin tunes...and me with the best tuna (sushi grads) wrap and kona beer, chillin with mah crew.
This place is so money after the dirty outer borough nyers dip out.
Drinks. Beach. Sun. Sand. Ocean air. Eye candy.
What's to love about all of the above??
Tiki bar is a Jersey shore hotspot. On the weekends, the place is beyond crowded and you'll be surrounded by guys and girls who are WAY to done up for the beach. Still, it's fun.
The food is good and the drinks are overpriced. However, since I'm a beer kind of gal, I don't have any issues.
If you go on a weekend during the day it's busy. If you go on a weekend night, prepared to wait for drinks and be sized up by either sex.
If you go on a weekend be prepared for the best (I mean worst) that Jersey has to offer. Â Nasty old cougars preying on young Guidos, Old Guidos preying on young out-of-town girls, and the worst music ever for a $10 cover charge. Â And let's not forget the $12 well drinks that are about 8 oz. Â Awesome!
If you go on a weekday, you're going to enjoy yourself. Â Plenty of room, the seating out on the dock is great and the music is background and chill. Â They do have a 100 oz. beer stand for $30 which works out to about $3.60 a beer so that's a great deal.
Came here again over the weekend thinking it would've been like my mid-week experience. I was wrong.
Sure, I dished out the $10 on a glorified screwdriver, why not right? And yes, I crushed a solid amount of cheese fries while most girls there didn't wanna bend or even sit just in case they had a little gut action going on. But being surrounded by friends and sitting in the sun daydrinking with the beach steps away can trump any dirty, grimy feeling the J-Shore gives off.
This place is actually a circus. I was a spectator to the freak show as soon as I stepped on Tiki's beach area. Here's what I saw:
- 2 different guys with the entire New York City skyline tattooed on their backs
- several "Death Before Dishonor" and "No Fear" tattoos. Like, you really need a tattoo that says no fear?
- fat chicks in bikinis... lots of them
- lots of stretch marks that should've been covered up
- tribal, neck, cross, and affliction tattoos galore
There were some hot chicks and guys that sort of evened out the bell curve and compensated for the straight trash that was romping around, and it was an experience to say the least. I couldn't help thinking about what people from Europe or elsewhere think when they land on the beaches of the Jersey Shore. Do they run for their life or just mock us?
Yum Yum Yum!! The mussels in garlic were soo delicious!
So was the order of calamari and refreshing 32 oz lemonade.
People in Jersey are clearly not big yelpers and when I was looking for a place to eat, nothing came up. There were maybe 7 results that showed up with only a handful of reviews each. I thought.. great. I hate eating for function but lets just enjoy whatever this boardwalk has to offer. And surprisingly, it was delicious!!!
Came here during the day on a Saturday and it was just awful, as it seems to have recently become overrun by the "jersey shore" crowd that you might expect to see in Seaside. Â Tatoos, fake tans, and fake boobs everywhere. Â I was wearing a t shirt and so I was overdressed. Â The one saving grace was the live reggae band. Â Hopefully the night scene has not degraded to this level as well.
Review Source:Know your role.
The male equivalent of plastic strippers are the most desirable clientele for dames here. Accept that, don't hate, and move on. These dudes have been working out and getting tanned waiting for these three summer months to come so they can show out at Martell's. (No homo for that entire line) So if you try to pull a pull one of these RedTube broads and you aren't in their lane, put your shirt back on and try again next year or just approach that mom from Rahway who is wearing her 20 year old's clothes. Â Â
Martell's is the spot for daytime drinking in Point Pleasant Beach. All types of creatures can be found here and will give anyone that has never been to the Jersey Shore plenty to stare and point at. And if you live/are from Jersey you are always bound to run into someone that you know here. Food is whatever but if you are lucky to land one of those tables at the end of the pier you've just upgraded yourself from ashy to classy. Live music and DJs is what goes down on the music front. You can also hit up Martell's as a night spot directly, but it's easier to get the earlier you go as you won't have to wait as long. Jenks next door is cool and all, but I like being outside at Martell's and it will help improve your mouthpiece, as you probably are nowhere near being the most fit person there.
Let me sum up this bar for you:
A bunch of tired, married and bored 4's in mom jeans who went to visit their sisters in New Jersey for the weekend. This is their one night out every two years where they can re-live the days of their youths, sans the drugs, and so even though they don't feel like it, and there's a Golden Girls rerun on that they really really want to see, they dragged themselves out of their shitty Point Pleasant motel, straitghtened their hair, and made it to Martell's for $9 beer night so they can get half as tipsy as they're acting, and fantasize for the next two years about how much crazier they are going to get next time.
Nobody goes in the beach...Its about putting your darkest shades on, taking easily removable clothes off
There is a cover - For all you freaks who LOVE to avoid them (ME!), unfortunately there is a cover to get in... Generally around the New Jersey Shore you have to pay $7 dollars to access the beach, TIKI BAR charges $10 which is reasonable...
Food - Why? There is tastier food out in the boardwalk and if you're that hungry talk a walk out there you can get back into TIKI BAR with your bracelet - besides I wouldn't rely on their service...
Drinks - On the expensive side and not a fan of the Tiki tea's or the "fresh squeezed" screwdrivers which runs up to $12 a drink... so what I opted to do was take Absolute Vodka shots $7 (makes the job easier right?)
You can barely hear the music when the DJ is mixing and they did had a (really) cheesy cover band playing at the time
But nonetheless, overall TIKI BAR still is a good time if you get to go with a group of friends as it is one of the top venues at the JERSEY SHORE
This place is a crowded bar and restaurant on the boardwalk. Â We went here for dinner before heading to Seaside. Â We sat at a table in the bar area. Â Service was slow and I got hit in the back by both patrons and employees at least 3 times. Â Ouch? Â
We finally got our food and my friend had a large bug in her salad. Â They gave her a new salad but we were still charged for it. Â My turkey burger didn't even come with lettuce or tomato on it, just a plain turkey burger on a bun. Â I wouldn't recommend eating here. Â
Ask the prices of the souvenir drinks before you order them. Â I thought one of the tiki drinks looked cute but it was like $25. Â Seriously??
Having heard a lot of great things about the scene at Martell's I decided to head down Labor Day weekend to see if the hype was justified.
"Underwhelming" I guess is the word I'm looking for. Â I didn't really see much to differentiate this place from other beach bars.
Clientele ranged from the typical rowdy Jersey Shore types to some bored looking older couples. Â I wouldn't say it was very...ethnically diverse.
They had a live band who played a broad range of covers, everything from Bell Biv DeVoe to Lady Gaga. Â They actually weren't too bad, but when they were done with their set the DJ started spinning generic top 40. Â The drunks on the dance floor seemed to find their rhythm (and I mean that only figuratively) though.
The signature Tiki tea was not bad flavorwise but fairly watered down...my girl's margarita however tasted like...sour mix with a double shot of sour mix. Â
Maybe I would like the place better if I showed up pre-intoxicated...the mediocrity was quite sobering.
I vowed to be a good girl and not drink on Sunday. I'm an (ir)responsible adult these days!
Well, that just goes to shit when anyone suggests Tiki bar. I used to wish I was 21 for all the years I spent on the Point Pleasant beach...jealously staring at the palm trees that extend on the deck out over the ocean.
Now I'm old and can legally patronize...which sometimes causes me to do illegal things. Like public nudity or letting my beer muscles show.
Clientele is either jacked and tan, a lot of jewelry and probably better looking than you. (this applies to bros and broads.) Or the other end of the spectrum, a fat and sunburned tourist from somewhere outside of the tri-state area. There's also a random smattering of cougars who stick out like a boner on a 12 year old. (Which is probably who they're going for.)
It gets packed. Like stupid packed. As in you better enjoy the smell of coconut oil and JPG, because chances are you're going to rub up accidentally (or not) against someone wearing either. Lucky for me, JPG cologne equals panty dropper, so no complaints.
Drinks are strong, and feature fresh squeezed juice. I'm a sucker for girly, pink drinks so I usually just ask for something like that...and end up with something like a daiquiri. I think the drinks run about $6-$10. Pretty on point with the boardwalk.
At night (and sometimes during the day) the DJ bumps some serious beats and it can get "clubby". Be prepared. If fist pumping bothers you, get drunk til it seems fun and then join in. Or continue drinking and explore frolicking. (Actually don't. Leave it to the ones who know how, you might hurt yourself.)
Definitely a solid spot for post-sunbathing cocktails, or a destination for a fun night out. Plus it's fun to hit the boards late into the night...I definitely have better luck on the frog bog after a few libations.
Every boardwalk should have a Martell's. Â Whether you're stopping there post-beach or just in the evening to hang out you can bet it will be a great time. It stretches out onto the edge of the water and is open and there's plenty of seating but it still can be quite hard at times particularly on the weekends. There are plenty of bars throughout it and enough bartenders so you won't be waiting for long.
They also have fresh squeezed juice drinks and a sushi bar. There's also bar food that's pretty standard easy stuff. If you're looking for five-star cuisine you're barking up the wrong tree, if you're looking for nachos to soak up the three tequila shooters you just had then you are in luck. Â Drinks are not badly priced - $8 for a margarita and $5 for a draft beer and they do have a heavy hand. There's frequently live music whether it be a DJ or a band - but dress appropriately. The floor is boardwalk planks and if you've decided to rock those stilettos you will be sorry.
It does get crowded- VERY crowded but the energy is good and there are plenty of tables and nooks to sit. If Snookie and the gang weren't officially banned from this area they would probably be here. Expect to see lots of dancing because this is New Jersey and while they don't pump their gas, they do pump their fists!
Terrible food. I think they should just invest in vending machines.
So, we ordered cheese fries, margaritas, and nachos. Let's talk about the cheese.....if it's not made from milk, doesn't melt, and comes in can with the name Kraft on the side, it is not cheese!!!! Call it something else. If I knew that i would be getting 2 sides of plastic yellow 5, I would have just stuck with my margarita...which by the way, sucked....so sweet and fake tasting....need to cut back on the sour mix, or use none at all.
And the nachos, what a disappointment. We got a basket of chips, a side canned cheese and single serving of salsa with a foil lid. Wasn't I paying 11 bucks for you to make me nachos? Anyway, same issue with the cheese.....it's not cheese!
You can't beat the scenery or people watching though. It's great and I would order 2 crappy margaritas just to sit and watch the drama unfold. I think my favorite scene was watching a father teach his 9-year-old son about the importance and practicality of beer bongs. The poor kid had to watch his father chug Bud Light while he dreamed about riding the Tilt-A-Whirl and buying cotton candy.
If you can find a table, this is a great place to sit and have an afternoon drink overlooking the beach. Â Most cocktails are around $7, and larger cocktails with fresh-squeezed orange juice are $10 each. Â The prices seemed really fair considering the excellent view.
I stopped in on a Friday afternoon with my sister and parents, and we all really enjoyed the experience. Â Our waiter was very attentive and friendly and the mood was perfect.
Great place to hang out if you want to take a break from the sand & waves. I like how it's so big & has so many different areas to hang out at (beach bar, restaurant, bar, "dance" floor). I'm not one for pina coladas but they make it good & it's refreshing on a hot summer day (and they make it strong). I wasn't too impressed by their teas, although the peach teas tasted better than their regular ones (wasn't that strong though). Their drinks are pricey though.
Onto their food..
1) Malibu Coconut Shrimp is worth ordering and goes great with the raspberry dipping sauce.
2) The seafood platter was okay - it seemed kind of small though.
3) Tuscan Chicken Wrap (grilled chicken, roasted red peppers & mozzarella rolled in garlic & herb flat bread) was decent. I ordered fries with it & they gave a whole basket! I wasn't impressed by the fries though - I'm not one for the skinny/McDonald's kind of fries.
The service was good, although they made some mistakes. At least the waitress was apologetic when they messed up, and she was pretty attentive for the most part.
It baffles my mind why there are only 16 reviews here when the place is balls to the walls crowded every day in the summer.
Anyway, I love Tiki Bar because I work in Manhattan all week and have a desk job. And I see lots of people in fancy clothes and business suits M-F and all I want to do on the weekends is see juice boxes with tattoos in board shorts. And juice boxes with tattoos in board shorts are basically the mascots of the establishment that is Tiki Bar. And everyone is shiny! Glistening with baby oil and an "I'm so %$%&ing happy it's FINALLY summer" glow.
Few things:
1. Get there early on a Sat or Sun. And I mean before 9am...so for all you Bklyn or SI folk heading onto the Garden State at 11 thinking you'll get a parking spot AND a spot to sit on the sand, keep dreaming.
2. Get a Tiki fresh squeeze OJ with vodka. Or get 5. I dream about these when I'm at meetings at work sometimes.
3. Be prepared to smell the sweat of your sand neighbor to the right or left because this place gets uncomfortably packed. It'll take you 15 minutes to walk the 100 ft to the bar because you have to dodge past hundreds of towels, chairs, umbrellas, and juice boxes in board shorts.
4. The staff is so insanely nice. I inquired via email about the status of my beach badge the other day. A sweet lady called me back within 12 hours and said it was sent and will arrive in the mail in a few days. My own mother never calls me back!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE!
Countless weekends and years I have spent going to this bar and its one of my favorite places in the summer to be!
If you pay to sit on the beach in Point Pleasant they do not charge you a cover. If they do its usually only $5 or $10 bucks. They have a live band on stage playing some sort of mix of music. There is rarely club music being played here unless its on an ipod and between band sets.
The food is pretty good and the drinks are awesome! Tiki Tea is a great drink, very sweet if you like that kind of thing. I am a HUGE fan of their fresh squeezed oj and vodka drinks. They are in a larger cup then usually served and are sooooooooooooooo goooooood!! They will run you about $11 a drink though :) I usually get a salad and they have always been very good.
It is always packed in there so my best advise to you is to get there before 2pm so that you can get a table. Servers are usually very friendly and diligent about waiting on your table and getting you what you need.
There are some interesting characters that walk through this place and it is so much fun to grab a table and some drinks and just people watch and listen to the music!
The have a shot called "a shooter" which consists of a raw clam, tobasco sause and some shot of alcohol. It truly is only for the daring lol Their frozen drinks like miami vices pina coladas and strawberry daiquiris are pretty good and very filling. You can get a shooter, which is a plastic vile with a full shot of additional alcohol added to any of these drinks to make for a more intense drinking experience.
The ambiance is very interesting and the people scene changes daily. This is an outdoor bar but has retractable glass ceilings along the main portion of the bar for inclimate weather. There are tiki bars and tiki tables set up all around the premise of this place. This place is rather big. It stems out all the way to the water's edge and has a lower level where you can sit on the beach and drink too.
There is no real happy hour here nor are their really happy hour specials. I am not a beer drinker so I wouldn't know if that was the only "happy hour" item they offer but all regular mixed drinks are always full price. This place is good to hang out from like 2 to 5 pm on either a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
I definitely recommend checking it out!
A decent bar on the boardwalk- a nice respite from family friendly Jenkinson's and a must if you're a bunch of adults playing hooky at the beach :) Ok, so the last part was a lie, since we were all officially off from work, but yes- it's a must if you're at the beach. After a couple hours on the beach, we definitely were ready for a drink, and headed into Martell's.
This tiki bar is huge and there will always be a place for you to rest your sun-weary bum. At the tables they have waitress service with food, and you can sit at the bar (complete with spritzer fans).
The drink list is pretty massive, though other than mai tais lack true tiki drinks. Their cocktails are pretty substantial and around 7-8.50. I got the tiki tea which is sweet tea vodka mixed with pink lemonade, my two friends got mai tais, and my friend got a pina colada in which he got an extra shot of rum for a dollar I think- it was delivered via a test tube shoved into the icy, creamy drink.
There was live music there, even on a wednesday afternoon so it definitely was a fun time.
Toot and I played hooky from work yesterday afternoon. I picked him up in Trenton at around 2:30 PM. and we hit Kat Man Du for two quick brews. Then we stated making our way East across Jersey on I-195. I needed gas so we caught one more quick brew at Tommy's Millstone and then got back on the road to get "down the shore"!
It was 84 degrees and just a beautiful day at The Point! We made our way out to one of the best bars in Jersey, the one at the end of the pier at Martell's. Both Toot and I switched to 20 ounce double Tequila Sunrises. Price for 2=$23 and worth every penny. Our barkeep made one delicious Sunrise, just the perfect amount of Grenadine and he was very generous with the Tequila as well.
After two of these bad boys I was feeling at one with the world. i was looking down the beach to the south where a mist was rising from the waves breaking on the rock jetties about a half mile away. The sun was setting back over behind the boardwalk to the west. There were two really pretty young ladies directly across the bar from me, around 22 years old I'd guess, locked in a passionate embrace and kiss that went on for quite some time. Really cool!
As I gazed around me I noticed the place was filled with attractive women, many sporting bikinis under their mostly open cover ups. One girl me and Toot dubbed Ferrari girl, as she had this great mane of flowing dark hair, giant shades and a bright yellow bikini, so we felt she would look great sitting next to us in a Ferrari while we toured the mountain roads around Rome.
A third double Sunrise and I was now in Eden; paradise was not lost, it was found at the Jersey shore!
To recap: perfect weather; perfect drinks; perfect hot babes making out; perfect location= perfect YELP score of 5 stars. I only wish I could give more!
Totally bummed that I'm not the first to review! Nonetheless, this place is 5 stars for the outstanding delicious drinks they serve. I can't speak of prices. I'm from NY and live in DC so everything in life is expensive.
When I go to Point Pleasant (once a summer to hang out at my cousin's shore house), I ALWAYS hit up this joint for an awesome, refreshing mimosa. It's better during the day when you can lounge around outside. Both times I was there for a concert, I didn't find the music to be THAT great. However, during the day, me and my lady friends really enjoy hanging out and listening to the live music when they have it.
If you really like this place but can't fathom the fees, they have some kind of platinum card with a 10% discount on food and drink. Check out the website for more info. If I lived there or had a house, I would have the card.
TOTALLY over priced and TOTALLY Â to crowed to enjoy. Been there many times with friends and such and never really enjoyed it. I'd rather go to AC Â for the prices they charge at Martells. I'm from the shore and I don't like paying benny prices. sorry.
however, I have to say that not charging the Military is a pretty cool thing.
