We've tried here multiple times and forgiven the awful service one time too many.  Food is good, atmosphere and location and concept are great, but the service is simply terrible.  Tried to go here for mother's day since the kids also enjoy this place.  We sat at a table for 20 minutes and nobody acknowledged us, ended up leaving finally since there was no change in sight, and other tables had been sitting for very long times without being able to order food.  2 other tables did the same.  I understand chaos on a busy day; however the 2 folks I could pick out as servers didn't seem in a rush and there was no host or organization or clear management...it was the last time we'll go.  I wouldn't base our total opinion on this one busy day if it hadn't been extremely poor service in past visits as well when there was nobody in the pub.  It's too bad, this could be a great place for families to enjoy good food.  I hope they turn it around and at least get some FOH management or a host to let you know you are seen.

Have gone their twice and both times service was terrible, to the point where I had to stand up and hunt someone down to actually place our order. I'll never be back.

I'm knocking 2 stars off my previous review for one big reason....Crappy service.

We were driving by a few weeks ago and saw a sign about a burger special on Wednesdays. A week later, I found myself craving  a burger on a Wednesday, so I thought why not call and see what that's all about. The person who answered the phone seemed confused when I asked about the Wednesday special. I told him I saw a sign out front, something about a burger I had thought. His response was "Oh the burger special?". "Yes, that's it" I replied.........silence......."so what is the burger special?"....more silence....."it's a burger".

    Really?

I thought maybe he was new and gave them a try anyway. For your information, the special is a hamburger for $1.50 on Wednesdays till 2:30 pm. It's an organic burger, on a nice bun and it's tasty for the price.

Since the burger was so cheap I decided on fries to share with the table, and I ordered a root beer. In the 30 minutes we were at the table I never got an offer for a drink refill. When I flagged the waiter down he refilled my glass....with diet coke. It was at that point that I was sure this was the same guy who had answered the phone. The real kicker though was when he dropped off our food, and I literally mean dropped off because he was gone before I could tell him that he gave us the wrong order. When he came flying out of the kitchen with our actual order, headed to another table, we had to wave him down. He didn't seem to care and swapped plates without saying much of anything.

Even with a tasty burger for $1.50 I'm not sure we will be back.

One of our favorite local spots. We meet up with family at this pub a lot and enjoy the Nano Beer Fests they have twice a year. The owners are friendly and have some great stories to go along with their recipes (ask about the mojitos). Also a nice touch they use local ingredients. The  X IPA and Ivan the Imperial IPA are our favorite beers here. My father-in-law says it is the best Reuben he has ever had (and he orders them every where he goes). The potato salad is also the best german potato salad to be had. If you are in the neighborhood, definitely go by Max's Fanno Creek Brew Pub.

We've been regulars at Max's for years now.  It has great pub food, you can't go wrong with any of the appetizers or the burgers.  The pizzas are also great, and I hear they are soon adding an actual pizza oven.  If you're in the area for breakfast, stop here...bottomless pancakes for hungry kids can't be beat!
If you have kids, the free video games up front are a great way to enjoy your meal while the kids are entertained.  In the back room there is a small play area for smaller kids.
I notice there are comments about the beer.  I am not a beer afficionado, but I do live in Portland and I have had 100s of beers.  Their beer is just fine.  They sell it for an excellent price, and we've personally consumed a solid keg's worth over the course of several years.  In fact, we've ordered kegs for events and parties and everyone has enjoyed the beer.  Perhaps you should start with a sampler if you are new, and then pick your favorite.  The sampler is generous portions for a good price.
The owners are also some of the nicest people we've ever met.  It makes it really feel like a neighborhood pub.
Several TVs around the bar...they'll have the game on.
Almost forgot to mention they have a private room in the back that they don't charge you to use.  If your group of 5 or 40 wants to use it, just see the bartender.  We had a football playoffs party there one year and it was great...all of the food and beer for our party, then walk away and let them clean it up!

Good place to bring the family and grab a drink. There is a kids area with toys and a few TV's setup with Xbox, PS3, and Wii. That will keep them occupied while you get a chance/breather to spend time with your significant other or a friend.

Did not try any of the beer here.

The nachos were the best item I had here and were huge. Lots of chicken, guacamole, salsa, sour cream, and other toppings. Enough in one plate to be a full meal for at least 3 people. Unfortunately that led to the chips buried at the bottom turning into mush by the time you reached them. I would suggest taking out the chips at the bottom of the toppings and place them in a side bowl instead.

Tried two of the pizzas, the Texas was decent - liked the chipotle sauce on it that boosted the flavor. The pepperoni lacked any real strong flavors.

Crinkle fries were not crisp, each one I tried was soft and more of a consistency/texture like a waffle.

Excellent.  Good beer, a great menu and a friendly space in downtown Tigard.  Finding ourselves in the wilds of Tigard, we took our chances on a place we'd never heard of.   McMenamins dominates the suburban brewpub market but Max's is far better.  The food is a much higher quality and reasonably priced.  I liked the IPA.  The servers were quite friendly.  I would definitely return if if I got lost in far Southwest again.

This place is getting a two because even though they suck at it, at least there is an attempt to make in-house beer.
But seriously. They suck at it. Don't drink here if you value your intestines and tongue. I've avoided writing a review on the place for so long simply out of sentimental value.
Trivia night is great (If you don't come hungry or thirsty) and sometimes they put on some pretty amazing events, but since March, the beer has taking a turn for the worse.  The food was never that great to begin with, but it's gone downhill too. I made some wonderful friends there, but ALL of us have moved on to better destinations.
    RIP Max's Fanno Creek.

great local pub that is just there to help community happen. They always accommodate for any group. This is the best place place to go in Tigard. There staff is always great and there food and beer is quality.

Well... some of the beer is okay. The Golden ale is pretty dang drinkable and the Farmer's Daughter isn't bad, even if it is a bit overly phenolic... The food on the other hand is... Well, I had to spit out my fish as it was WAY too rotten to even THINK about eating it. Super, super fishy and really, really mushy. Total freakin' ick.  No cook  in their right mind should have sold that fish- it would have been far wiser (and safer) to have tossed it and "been out".

On the plus side, the staff is quick to remove the charges for the inedible stuff.. Granted, I'd have rather had something tasty to eat.

This place could really benefit from a bit of hands-on attention from a good manager or maybe the owner.. Talk about a place where the inmates are running the asylum... It seemed that there was lots of time for the staff to flirt, converse and complain to each other, but not so much time to bus empty tables that had been empty long enough for all the ice in all the glasses to have completely melted.

I've had mixed experiences there in the past, but after the last visit I think I'm finally done. No more rotten food and 'well, it's okay' grade beer for me, thank you. There are too many places in town that deliver better food and better beer for a comparable price.

I'm a member of an organization that meets here one evening a month, and I've eaten a few of the items on the menu, but only recently have I had the opportunity to stop in for lunches.
If you're in Tigard, I'd recommend stopping in for lunch because it's not normally crowded. The atmosphere is pleasant, comfortable. I'm greeted and served promptly during lunchtime. Service was understandably slower in the evenings because there are 30 of us in a meeting room.
I've been pleased to stop in for lunch, when I can nibble a club sandwich or a fungusburger (mushrooms), and relax with some reading material or watch television. I don't normally drink beer during business hours or when I'm driving, and timing hasn't permitted me to comment on the beers because I haven't tasted them yet.
I enjoy Max's for some of the reasons others have criticized it; it's a good location for food and conversation, conveniently located near the Tigard transit center and to vendors I frequent regularly. At the hours I've stopped in, I readily find a table. It's a relaxed atmosphere, and I wouldn't want to change that. The dimly lit interior is soothing and it's not so poorly lit that I have to grope for my food. The staff is pleasant and as attentive as the workload permits. I don't conduct business meetings here; I come here for a quiet momentary escape for lunch. If you're near Main Street, I'd suggest you consider it.

We decided to take a walk along Fanno Creek to soak up some sun.  After a good walk we ended up on Main Street and decided to eat at Max's.  It was nice and airconditioned.

We got decent service, probably because the place was near empty.

I likedthe food.  I got a cheesesteak and it had the perfect ratio of beef to pepper to onions.  The beef was flavorful.  There was enough pepper to get the flavor and texture.  There was enough onions to add flavor, but not so many as to overpower everything else.  I would have rather had regular fries instead of potato chips, but overall, I was verypleased with my sandwich.

As we were with the kiddo my wife didn't get any beer (and I don't drink) so I really can't comment on that.

    Pro's:
-Hasn't really been discovered by many people yet so it has never been crowded when we went there
-Really good happy hour selection (3pm-6pm); one of the better selections in the area
-Decent food for the price (during happy hour)
-On-site brewing offers some tasty beer

    Con's:
-The service was a little slow especially considering there were only 4-5 other people in the restaurant; it took about 10 minutes for our server to make her initial greeting
-Even though the food was decent, it was average at best; the size was somewhat small and there wasn't much flavor

    Overall:
-We will definitely go back to this place as it is a pretty good restaurant

This pub is decent. It's not worth leaving the plethora of other pubs in Portland proper, but I would pick it over any bar in this area for sure.

They actually have a pretty big menu of burgers, pasta, salad. The mac and cheese is average, nothing memorable. They do have Scotch eggs here which is definitely a way to my heart but other places in town make them better. My friend turned me onto my favorite item here, the Caribbean salad with coconut shrimp, red pepper, mango and a raspberry vinaigrette dressing. It is the one menu item I have had here that is exploding with flavor and just truly outstanding. Prices aren't bad, but they make them better with their daily 3-6 "hoppy hour" which also runs 9pm to closing.

The beer is A-OK. I think my favorite here is the Reverend's Daughter, their Belgian Golden Ale. If you like fruit beer, they do a Raspberry Stout that isn't too bad.

I mainly come here for their nano brewfests they do about twice a year which I truly love. The lines are short, the volunteers are friendly, there's live music and they always rustle up some interesting brews to try. It looks like the next one is 8/10-8/12.

Finding seating here is never a problem and the outdoor seating is always a welcome place to watch Tigard's downtown "scene". It's also family friendly complete with a play area near the entrance. AND they also offer a meeting room, so if you work in the area, this could be a fun option.

If you do find yourself in the thriving metropolis of Tigard this year, make it the weekend of the their nanobrewfest!

Decent food. Friendly service. Passable beer. Pretty much a-ok, really, but not great. It works for a meal out when we're just too lazy or frazzled to cook.

One thing i really like about this place is that they have a little fenced-in play area for kids with lots of different toys. We can come in, grab the booth nearest the play area, and have a decent meal while the gremlin plays contentedly. The variety of toys is enough to keep most under-5 kids entertained for a whole meal. Kids over five can probably just stare slack-jawed at the several big-screen TVs showing various sports-related events, just like their parents.

As for the menu, meativores seem to have a good selection, but if you're the unfortunate vegetarian that doesn't like mushrooms, you're nearly out of luck. There's the option to swap a veggie patty in on the burgers, and a vaguely Mediterranean-themed cold vegetarian sandwich, but everything else is mushroom-based. And by 'everything else' i mean the mushroom burger and the mushroom sandwich. For reasons unclear to me, they can make perfectly crispy tater tots but the fries always seem soggy and chewy. I've heard that the fish and chips is actually quite good, but i can't speak to that from personal experience.

Max's is a great place to meet up, wind down, and have a good time overall.  The feel good pub food is delicious and their micro brews are very tasty.
I've been there many times and they have some great happy hour specials - I recommend the slider sampler.
You can also bring your kids; they have an area that contains a WII, PlayStation, and xbox 360 Kinect

This review is long overdue. I come here often. During the dry months, the hounds and I can be found sitting outside every Sunday afternoon. The hounds love their waffle fries. And the wife and I love their beer.
(My profile pic was taken at their outside seating area a couple of years ago).

They have a great beer selection (although I noticed it's getting a bit ale and IPA heavy). I always get the Belgian Ale and then follow up with the porter, stout, or wit. Becca always gets the wit beer (shocked to see it was off the beer list,...hope that's only temporary,...it's one of the best wit's we've ever tasted).

Their menu is fairly extensive with lots of options,....even for you veggie folks. And they have a great "hoppy hour menu". They use great ingredients (hormone and antibiotic free meats) which is a plus in my book. We've been coming here for years and haven't had a dissapointing meal yet.

Service has always been great,...we usually sit down at a table and often the bartender (Will or Matt) or server, automatically drops off our usual drink preference without having to order. How cool is that!

There are are several seating areas in the pub, booths, tables, benches, or at the bar. There are also a couple of play areas for your kids,...yep, towards the front of the pub there is an area with a wii, playstation, and xbox for your kids or you big kids amusement. So very family friendly.

Anyhow, we came in last Sunday afternoon for drinks and a game of scrabble. I had the Reverand's Daughter (Belgian ale) which was delicious. And Becca got a hot buttered rum since the wit beer was off the beer list, but she was really happy with the hot toddy. It did taste and smell fantastic!

So if your looking for great beer and food at reasonable prices this is the pub for you! Also keep in mind that your well behaved four legged friends are welcome outside during the warmer months ( I do love that).

We were looking for a decent meal and a margarita when we popped in to Max's. The waiter told us we had 5 mins to order off the happy hour menu... so, happily we did just that! We both ordered the mahi mahi fish and chips for $4.95, a Caesar salad for $2.95 and Patron Cadillac Maggie's for $10.50.

Our drinks were a little pricey... I suppose that's relative... but, they were very good and served in a tall water glass, rather than a short bucket like many other places. The salad was good and generously proportioned. The fish was AWESOME!!!! We would have given Max's 5 full stars had the waffle fries been cooked longer. We actually asked for one small order done crispy and they came the same way.

We already have a plan to return for happy hour to share THREE orders of Fish/Chips (they can hold 2 sides of fries and give us 1 side VERY crispy)... salad... and of course, more margaritas!

Our waiter could have been more friendly, but he did his job and was attentive enough... not to mention he was also our bartender... Oh yeah, and he told us about Happy Hour!!! Can't really downgrade him in light of all that!!!

Gahhh - I hare working in the suburbs, but lunch Wednesday 1.50  Painted Hills beef burger. All day every day!  There ain't any option, but well done.  Cute microbrew place too, but we are not allowed to have a beer with lunch as we are not in Europe.

Nice ambience in Main St. Tigard for it being Tigard and all - dim Ikea lighting, wooded bar, some couches to sprawl.

I'll gladly pay you Wed for a hamburger today!

I'm looking at 2.5 stars and rounding up. Service was quick and friendly. I like to see the little guys succeed and Max's is 'the little guy."

I tried several of their beers which ranged from OK to reasonably good. What they lack in stylistic accuracy they seem to make up in ABV. If you want to get hammered quickly you have a number of options between 6.5 and 9.0.  "The Reverend's Daughter" was tasty but the rest of my sampler was somewhere between meh, and ok.

I got a Southwest Chicken Salad that was OK, but I probably wouldn't order it again. The woman sitting next to me said that's what she always gets, so I'm not greatly encouraged about sampling the rest of the menu.

My BFF and I came here for a little girl time from our family. It was literally a walk to the restaurant and sit yourself (outside patio, not unsure of inside). We were greeted pretty quickly with menus and our server was prompt afterwards. She and I ordered their Celestyne Pilsner and a chips and salsa to share.

They got our drink order wrong and almost gave us the wrong beer. Then it took awhile to even get the chips and salsa. My friend told me that their service usually take that long. I can believe her on that. With my concentration with catching up with my bestie, whom I haven't seen for 10 months, I really wasn't too engrossed in Max's.

However, their pilsner was very yum and went very well with their chips and salsa. I would like to come back here on my next visit to Tigard.

Came here one afternoon and the place wasn't busy at all, so that may have given us a skewed impression of the service, but we had good service. Bartender/server acknowledged us quickly, came over with menus, took orders quickly, checked in on us, and no delay getting our check.
That said, the beer is the most important piece of a brew pub, so on to that, had a pint and a taster tray:
-Belgian Golden (Reverend's Daughter): light on alcohol for style at 6.5%, but good 'Belgian' taste. Easy drinker, not very aggressive for a BMC drinker with only mild ester/phenol flavors.
-Golden Ale: mild hopped session ale, light on flavor.
-Celestyne Pilsner: a good beer. Not as grainy as the menu says, but a clear, light bodied pilsner with moderate noble hop flavor.
-IPA: classic NW IPA, copper/amber with 65 IBUs of mostly Centennial hop flavor. Very accessible for an IPA in this area, more of an English IPA balance with lower hopping and more malty. Not the usual hop bomb.
-Imperial IPA: This one has the hops- bitterness and flavor. Weird combination with Perle and Cascade hops for dry hopping, but it works. Good balance for an IIPA, and not the piney flavor many have.
-Raspberry Stout: a sweet/oatmeal stout kind of flavor, restrained on the acrid black malt flavors, mild raspberry flavor that tastes a little artificial. A stout for people who generally aren't into them.
Food to soak up the beers is decent, upper 1/3 of brewpub food in the Portland area. Pot roast sandwich was a variation on a french dip, and worked very well with great au jus and their home made chips. Burger Ole` with waffle fries was good, but not great. Their menu is pretty varied, and I can't speak to all of their options, but these were reasonably well done.
The decor is decent, and the interior is large. Also has sidewalk tables. Interesting IKEA lamp chandelier, and a large window to check out the brewery through. As mentioned before, a child's play area for those that gotta take their kids with them when they go out drinkin', and game systems for adults/kids.
Good amount of parking on street or behind the building.
Worth a visit, particularly if you're in the Tigard area.

I went for lunch on the first beautiful Saturday of the summer and we had a quite nice time. The food was as expected, nothing spectacular but some pretty good waffle cut fries. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed watching the people go by. I will certainly go back this summer.

This is a cute little place on Main Street in downtown Tigard.  The place was decorated with a mesh-mash of murals painted by local artists, a kite from WWII, TVs showing sports, and metal sculptures amongst tables and high-backed booths.  There were two kids areas, one with toys and one with TV screens used for playing video games, I think.  I didn't get a good look at those.  The bar-top was crafted from a 600 year old tree salvaged from the bottom of the Columbia River, or so their menu said.

The service was alright, but our waiter was new so I'm cutting him some slack.  He was very nice though and asked for help if he didn't know the answers to our questions instead of b.s.ing them.  I like how he asked me which beer was my favorite and talked about them with me.

The food was pretty good; I had the shrimp green curry special and my boyfriend had the Reuben sandwich with kettle chips.  We were very pleased.  The beer was pretty good too.  I got a taster tray so I got to try almost all of them.  Some were better than others, but none of them were bad.  My favorites were the Imperial IPA, the Vanilla Cream Stout and the Farmer's Daughter.  The Nit Wit was my least favorite (it lacked flavor).  Why you would come to Fanno Creek Brewery and order a Bud Light, as the guy behind me did, I don't know.

Overall, I'm a fan.  It's just too bad I don't really live near Tigard.

A couple of the beers here are really good. The food is mediocre, at best. We had a rancid potato salad. This was likely a rare occurrence, but a bad sign, nevertheless. Despite a small play area, this place is the opposite of child friendly. If your kids make a tiny peep, the mama-san is there in a heartbeat telling them to be quiet.

We recently stopped here for the first time for lunch and have to say it was an all-around good experience. We did a beer sampler and all were good. The vegetarian sandwich was great. Fish and Chips were average, not bad. Service was quick. Server was quiet but not unfriendly and checked on us several times. Average Brew Pub prices. Good atmosphere but we do wonder why a Brew Pub would choose to have a child's play area. Wouldn't want to sit near that on a busy night. We'd go back again.

We moved here from Brooklyn in Feb and were so happy to come across this place as it reminded of restaurants back in the city with the outdoor seating near the sidewalk. It just gives you a better feel for the community you live in and others around you. That, along with excellent food, beer and a cool play area for the kids inside makes it perfect for us and our three girls... plus if we have the dog with us we just sit outside.

Nice crafted beers and food a full notch above typical brew pub food (however much a notch is worth these days.)   Been coming here for a few years, since soon after they opened.

Tonight, I went with a couple pints of the Oktoberfest, a nice, hoppy lager.   Actually, I brought home a growler of it too.   My burger was the Blown Keg Blue Cheese - cooked perfectly with a very tasty blue cheese melted on it (instead of just being cold crumbled.)   I have always love their homemade potato chips.   Also, I appreciate the opportunity to be able to order something beyond pub grub - they offer some a great mac and cheese and a nice green curry dish.

I like the atmosphere because it is their own.   They don't try to be a McMenamins or display some other forced conformity of a hip or funky look.   It is more of a European pub feel - yes, kids can be enjoying themselves while adults enjoy a beer - deal with it.   I've never had a problem enjoying myself in an age diverse crowd.

The service has always been friendly over the years with maybe one exception.   There are a some other beers locally that exceed Max's, but theirs are still exceptionally tasty.   It will continue to be a favorite of mine.

    Since when is Tigard Portland?

    Anyway......

Crap food but great beer. And that's all I Wally cared about when I went here.

Plenty of beer to choose from. They don't use proper pint glasses and they serve them up with tons of head/foam. So you don't really get your moneys worth. But there certainly are worse places you could drink at on the west side.

If you're in the area and want a brew check it out. It's got some character to it.

    Beer On the Bike Path

Max's is mid way between home and work on the Fanno Creek bike path.  I stop in for a beer and at times eat their food.  We have been going here since before Max was jailed.

Beer is good crafted beer. (Both with Max and now Jay)

The food pretty much sucks.  My girlfriend hates to order food here because many times she is ill the next day.  The chicken quesadilla had very old chicken....  I do recommend changing the menu and kitchen staff.

***** Nano Beer Fest and Fanno Creek *****
Just an awesome event, 5 stars.  Small, not crowded and very comfortable in the town brewpub.  They had beer from all over Oregon.

    Beer Valley, Ontario
    Bend Brewing
    Calapooia Brewing, Albany
    Caldera Brewing, Ashland
    Double Mountain, Hood River
       Devil's Kriek - a very different brew.
    Fort George, Astoria
    Heather-Allen, McMinnville
Dunkel - Classic German - not very classic (purity laws and all) but very very good.
    Natian Brewing, Portland
    Oakshire Brewing, Eugene
Watershed IPA - a very nice IPA
    Oregon Trail, Corvallis
    Pelican Brewery, Pacific City
Kiwanda Cream Ale - Wow, good tasty beer...
    Southern Oregon, Medford
    Three Creeks, Sisters
Firestorm Red - nice but I like the Knotty Blonde (or just the idea).
    Upright Brewing, Portland
    Walkabout Brewery, Central Point

When all is said and done, you still have a good selection of beer.
    Drink up me hearties.

Disclaimer: I'm not a beer guy, so I'm just reviewing the food.

I was not impressed by this place at all.  The first thing I tried were the scotch eggs.  The whole thing was horribly overcooked and the sausage was completely dried out and flavorless.  They might as well have left the eggs in the cardboard cartons they came in.  The chips got a big thumbs down from me and I definitely didn't like the gourmet mac & cheese, which was a drippy, soupy mess.

I was fortunate to have a good server, which gives this place a solid 2 star review.

Even with beer goggles on in full effect Max's Pub deserves these 2 stars. Since I'm not even interested in writing this review, I want to write about something I enjoyed afterall, I'm just going to break it down in nutshells.

Service - Absolutely horrific and I never complain about service. A quick double check of nearly any review I've written and you'll see it takes a special someone to pick my chord. Terrible. Adam R called out that they don't even acknowledge you, but it's far far worse than that. We sat outside, waited patiently while looking over the drink menu. The waiter came out to say his hellos but before we could even get a sentence out he went right back inside, without taking a drink order. No worries, we'll get him next time. right.

He comes out again a few minutes later and we're ready to order food by now. Still just soaking up some rare sunshine on memorial day weekend. He takes our drink order... almost. He gets beers from 4 people at the table and starts to leave as one of my friends has her hand up asking for a margarita. He's already at the door of the restaurant and she shouts "cadillac!" He doesn't bother checking that he's got anyone else's drink and missed my friend on the end who just wanted ice tea. Nice going deuce, cause that's what you're earning the place.

Le Deuce comes back out finally to get our food order. And my friend says "hey ice tea, sir. Thank you..." to which he SKIPS the food order and disappears to get ice tea for another 15 minutes. Great. No problem we're not that hungry. Somewhere in there we did manage to order their scotch egg. A hard boiled yolk wrapped in sausage and deep fried. It's been phenomenal elsewhere, but save yourself the gastric punishment by having it hear. Unless of course you like thick jimmy dean quality sausage, bleached eggs, and stale fry coating.

Man, it gets better. Our good friend comes back to take our food order and actually gets the whole table. Then he manages to give the wrong dishes to over half the people! Honestly this was more humorous to me than anything with people going, "no that's mine..." and I had a great chuckle. The Deuce is probably just drunk off his ass on shift drinks or something.

    - Food - with the impeccable service out of the way the food isn't going to save the day. They advertise Painted HIlls Beef burgers and I've had plenty to take the Pepsi Challenge. I could probably tell you if the meat was Oregon Country or Painted Hills, or grass fed 100% on taste. Why then did this patty look like one of those extra thick red hockey pucks from Safeway? Besides the meat itself nearly everything sampled at the table was atrocious. Unless as one of my friends put it. "I like this place, I just don't really care about food, it's good, fry anything and put it in front of me and I'll enjoy it." Way to have standards. I was glad he wasn't talking to me at that moment and reminded myself to never let him pick the restaurant again, ever.

    Wife's Fish Taco's = Fail
Friend's Fish and Chips = Fail
*Girl on my left's Chicken Sandwich = A damn chicken sandwich, Fail

    *she couldn't even finish it.

Beer - If you're reading this and figure you'll just stop in for the brew I hope you finish this next sentence: It sucks. Dark, muddy, home brew flavor without any real quality. This isn't the Pelican Pub, Laurelwood, HUB, or even the Racoon Lodge.

Worth Two Stars: They serve a cadillac Petron Margarita for $6.75 at all hours of operation. After a few of these I was ready to give them 2 full stars!

Now that we've wasted plenty of each others' time lets go search in better food and brew.

A great, unassuming brewpub in Tigard's tiny downtown. We'd had their beers before at various local brew fests, and were always pleasantly surprised.  The IPA was very tasty, lots of hop flavor and a complex mouthfeel, yet only 5.5% ABV. And during happy hour, only $2.50/pint!
It's definitely family-friendly, and the food was a cut above typical pub grub. Had a good cobb salad and the happy-hour mac & cheese, which was enough for hubby and I to share. Very tasty and creamy, although it does not come served in a crock with a crusty top like I was hoping.
Prices are low, and the service was great.  Definitely a keeper, although I don't know that I would go out of my way to stop in...it happens to be not that far from where we're living.

Decent place to grab a bite and a beer with the little ones in tow.  The happy hour food menu was great, we had the mac and cheese and some sausage on a stick.  For $3 or $4 bucks the prices were great.  My hubby had the Blue cheese burger and was a little disappointed that there wasn't a little more to it, just meat and blue cheese.  Could have used some extra kick, like a wasabi mayo or something...that said, the burger itself was fine.  Love that they use Painted Hills beef, my 3 year old loved the kids burgers, little sliders.  The play area was an added bonus, he spent most of his time in there.  The beer was good, I had the IPA, the rest of the table had their raspberry stout and golden.

Overall, a perfectly nice place to take the family, have a few pints, watch the game and relax.

Ugh, save your money and go elsewhere. Disappointed doesn't even begin to describe this place. Go to a chain place. At least there they will acknowledge your existence when you walk in.

Oh and WTF is with the kiddie playground in the bar? Seems way out of place.
