    McMenamins...

I've been here a couple times and think I can say that the food is consistently mediocre (c'mon, even I can make a burger that isn't dry) but the beer keeps me coming back.

The stout is one of my favorites being produced.  After a couple it makes the plain food more tolerable and just keeps this review above 2 stars.

The food is really good, but the service is hit and miss.  I've always loved the food here.  The fries are delicious, the salads are always crisp, and the burgers are messy and perfect.

However, they seem a little short staffed most of the time, so sometimes the service is great and other times you can wait a long time for get a drink refill (unless you're willing to get up and get one from the bar).  It's just a hair more bar than restaurant, and I'd prefer it to be a bit more restaurant.

Have been here a handful of times over the past few years and it's usually rather dead inside (with the service being just as dead). However, I came with 6 adults and baby a couple of Fridays ago around 6pm and the place was slammed. There were zero seats available on the kid-friendly side of the establishment and the other side didn't look very promising either. We were about to leave when a booth became available so we waited for the table to be cleared and piled in. Yes, I mean piled. Try wedging 6 adults (4 being grown men) in a normal sized booth. All-in-all the waitress did a great job tending to us while working the resting of the restaurant. She got all of our orders right and kept the drinks coming at a reasonable pace. Better experience than we'd had here in a long time.

Moved back to the area so hubby wanted to try this place again. It's a find your own seat kind of place and not too many from the inside. We waited for about 5 minutes for a menu while a server past us up twice and just smiled at us. When our server Jay  came to help us he was really nice. He looked like he was the only person working his butt off serving and running the bar. There was two big table another server was helping so she didn't seem to interested in helping . I ordered the mushroom cheeseburger with fries my husband got the chicken strip basket with tater tots. At first bite my cheeseburger was good but with another bite I noticed the edge all around the patty was really charbroiled. The patty could use some salt and pepper for seasoning too. The fries tasted burnt maybe that is how their fries are supposed to be.  The chicken strips were really good though. Hot, white meat and not a lot of breading which we liked.
Overall we won't be going back. Looks like a nice selection of beers but I'm not a beer drinker.
If you want a good burger go down the road a little more to Blazing Onion.

Went for lunch -- fish and chip- tasteless, cole slaw - tasteless, husband's sandwich-tasteless, french fries - tasteless.  My husband had his "secret sauce" on the side which was a good thing for two reasons  1. It was wasabi based - he hates wasabi - might be good if the restaurant mentioned that since it is unusual.  2. I love wasabi so I dipped my fish it in for flavor. We both left the fries on our plates - yes they were that bad, greasy, mealy, flavorless.  We don't drink beer - so can't speak to that.  Staff was nice, decor was nice.  We won't be back.

We were looking for a place to get a beer and a burger.  We ended up getting a beer and a basket of deep fry oil.  The beer is good, the service was awesome, and the food needs to be forgotten.  I took the left over grease from my burger to lubricate my squeaky car door.  My wife ordered fish and chips, and couldn't find the fish that was mixed with the fries in the basket. Yes the fish was that small.  I think a kid is still crying because someone deep fried his gold fish.

If it wasn't for the beer and the servers, easily two stars.

We came here on a Friday evening around 7PM. Restaurant was self seating. As we sat down the lady bussing the table told us someone else would be our waitress.  We sat for 15 min. and Nobody came by. We even had to grab our own menus. Eventually, I had to go to the bar to ask for our order to be taken.  When I asked who our waitress was supposed to be, it turned out it was the girl who bussed our table earlier!

We ordered the Communication Breakdown burger and a dungeon burger. The tator tots are good, the burgers are average, but the service ruined our entire experience.  I've eaten at many other Mcmenamin's, but never again at the Mill Creek location.

Went there with my two kids.  Place was dirty, service mediocre and food was crap.  Wouldn't go there again, except maybe for a beer.  But then i would much rather go to Shawn O'Donell's for that.

When I travel to the Pacific NW, I make it a point to go to a McMenamins whenever I can. Luckily, I had the opportunity to visit the Mill Creek location last week and it was as good as any. Since it has been years since my last visit, I had to take a refresher course and ordered the tasting sampler of beer. Just as I remembered, my favorites were the Amber Ale and the Terminator Stout. That stout is the real deal!!!

I am from Portland and love McMenamins.  However, this location is sub-par. The service really isn't that great. They got rid of the best thing on the menu, the American dip! Their happy hour is great, but the menu is small. The drinks aren't strong enough for the price! And well....mama needs a strong drink.

Located right off of Bothell Everett Hwy in Mill Creek, McMenamins is one tasty place to visit. The location has a very "welcome home" feel to it and although there are a decent amount of McMenamins locations around the Pacific Northwest, there is no large corporate feel it to. It truly feels like a place you can go, relax and feel like you are in a family business.

The food is amazing, the portion sizes are large, the quality is top of the line and the menu selection is just right. With their burgers, they do not have the biggest toppings variety on the menu, but keep in mind you can essentially build your own (although this comes with a price for some items).

The beer selection is great, and being many are their private label, they are very knowledgeable about the tastes , what they pair with and they are always served chilled and fresh tasting.

McMenamins is a wonderful treat and I highly recommend it to friends!

There is a small amount of out door seating for nice days (however, it is in a strip mall on a busy road so the view isnt the best...).

This is a solid little pub and eatery in Mill Creek. It's a little strip mall joint, but they've taken some care to bring it off as a welcoming neighborhood pub. Lots of hanging house plants, lots of dark wood booths, a great big dark wood bar. The art ranges from hippie-ish to soccer-mom-ish. But it sets a good tone for the clientele they must get around here.

The food is burgers, salads, sandwiches, and a few apps, including the justifiably well-known Cajun Tots. The Communication Breakdown is (also justifiably well-known) a great burger. Occasionally some interesting house beers will show up on draft, but they always have the well-known McMenamin's mainstream lineup--Terminator, Ruby, Hammerhead, etc.

By and large the service here ranges from really nice and laid-back to just OK, depending on the day and the turnover. But it's never rude and never disorganized. I'm glad to have one of their spots near me, though I am very eager to see their local historical restoration projects produce some pubs in the Puget Sound region. Dig what these guys are doing.

My boyfriend and I came here for a birthday party several months ago. Our seats were comfortable and the wait staff was pretty constant with checking on the large group. The beer offerings were solid as usual with any McMenamins you might visit.

We decided to split a main and a salad between us. The salad was beautifully made with heaps of greens, blue cheese crumbles, roasted hazelnuts and marinated red onions. I requested light dressing so the kitchen used a raspberry-Ruby Ale vinaigrette sparingly. We both enjoyed the ingredients and didn't balk at the $10 price tag too much.

The main dish was another story. In a word, it was a lackluster. We went with a classic: fish + chips. The menu boasted wild Alaskan cod dipped in their ale batter with fresh-cut fries, tartar sauce and buttermilk coleslaw. For nearly $12.00, we received three small pieces of greasy fish, limp fries and flavourless cole slaw. I rarely salt my food but I was salting the heck outta that slaw.

We were there long enough that I invariably craved something sweet. I asked the bartender what they had and he listed a few sweet options. I went with the carrot cake which ended up being an overpriced sliver of cake : (

My friends love the happy hour here, 3-6 I do believe with some great prices on hummus and cajun tots. My friend insists there is nothing like the flavor of cajun tots, we even debated the ingredients. I love the large wooden tables. The info about the other locations. The large parking lot. The beer selection. Ruby ale is my favorite and I usually get the hummus platter. Its nice to sit on the patio on a warm day.

I have been twice and both times a bit disappointed. The staff working there are great, but everything seems a bit overpriced. When I think "mcmenamins" I think of a unique place with fun atmosphere. This is in a strip mall and doesn't have that same feel for sure.

McMenamins is lots of fun!  Live music on Wed and Thurs nights,  trivia on Monday nights.  There is an outdoor fire pit to warm your toes, while enjoying a delicious pint during their late night happy hour.  Sometimes there is a wait during their busiest times, but the wait staff will be sure to keep the beer pouring.  For those who don't like beer, there is a full bar with great cocktail specials.  My favorite thing on the menu is the cheese steak sandwich and their fresh cut fries.  All the dressings and most of the food is made form scratch.
The staff is friendly and gracious to families with little kids.  I will always come back!

My boyfriend and I had a GREAT date here.

The booths are comfy, the bartender rocked, and the food was great for the price.

We came here before HH for one drink before I had an appt. in Mill Creek, we left for my appt and came back to try the HH. We are so glad we came back!

We got cajun tots for $2 ($7 on non-HH), pita & hummus for $2 and each a side salad for $6 total. So for around $10 we grubbed on some good food. The tots are similar to Taco Times- but they really did hit the spot. The hummus was lacking flavor but then I reminded myself I need to diet anyways.

On another night we ordered the wings, although they were expensive ($11.95) they proved to be flavorful without the classic Franks sauce. These are definitely for people who can't handle heat but still want to enjoy wings. Next time I may ask for some extra sauce on the side to kick it up a notch. Also, for the price they I was hoping for more wings since they weren't that meaty.

I know nothing about beer but my boyfriend said the IPA was good. My wine was great.

This will probably become one of our new favorite places.

I am a huge fan of the McMenamin's enterprise, but this place was just all right. Though I admit that their tater tots and sweet potato fries are amazing. If anything, just come here for those and drinks.

Came here for a date. I would recommend this for a date place. Casual. Good service and a good selection of munchies, and booze!!!

I was disappointed with the architecture of the place because the one in Olympia and Portland are just so well decorated and preserved. This one was in a small plaza. Drove by it so many times. Nothing distinct and typical of McMenamin's - which is being atypical.

Couldn't live without Terminator and Hard Cider with Cajun Tots. If you're looking for something a little different, check out what Nitro they have on tap.

In addition to beer, they also make their own wine, roast coffee, and at least two kinds of hard alcohol.

We spend every Thursday night here. The service isn't always speedy, but they make up for it in good ole fashioned customer service. Don't come expecting the mega-restaurant in-and-out speed.

The inside of the pub is amazing. The painted walls look more like a fairytale art installment then pub interior design. The copper-topped bar is beautiful and the booths will remind you of a dark alley pub in the ole' country.

The food here is unique. The specials rotate monthly and always offer a great selection of sandwiches or fare you'd never think to find. Come for happy hour, you can usually get a burger, tots, and beer for less then $10.

There's an outdoor patio and large indoor tables that easily hold 8 people.

In summary, come for happy hour, but avoid Friday night, unless you're willing to wait.

Not the most inspiring location for the franchise. Where as other locations have a lot more character, this is located in a strip mall. Boo. The interior is decorated fine--there are high-back wooden booths around the exterior and the centrally-located bar that add some interest. They have an outdoor patio but with plastic chairs and location right next to Hwy 527, it's not a great option.

The menu is fairly basic, with sandwiches and hamburgers the main staples. About 5 salads, a few other appetizers/entrées, but not much else.  I've been here a few times and had the fish and chips, cheeseburger, and a few sandwiches--all mostly average. Nothing too offensive, but just forgettable. Lots of char on the burger--so much that it was almost bitter. Entrées are around $10 and up; not terribly reasonable for middle-of-the-road.

My favorite meal so far has been the Maria's Masterpiece sandwich (turkey, swiss, grilled onions, bacon). The secret sauce that comes on it has horseradish, however, so I have opted out. I also had corn chowder there once that was pretty tasty, but it's not a daily option. The ales are also a fun adventure-sample tray is a good way to try them all.

The biggest disappointment is the service. Any time it's even slightly busy, it is horrible and slow. The last time we where there, several tables were open toward the back where we were sitting (right by the kitchen doors where the servers all go) and it took nearly 20 minutes for us to be even acknowledged (the perils of their 'seat yourself' policy or just lack of awareness--patrons that came in after us got service much faster). It appeared the wait staff were even deliberately avoiding our eye contact, and we were trying to obtain it in order to get some service. When we were noticed, service was decent time-wise. The waitress most recently acted like we were an inconvenience to her.

Recommendation: drive a little farther to take in a pub with better location, food, and service for a more enjoyable experience.

This isn't the best McMenamins I've ever been to, maybe even the worst., but at least it's something.  We have so few options for dining in the MIll Creek/South Everett/Snohomish area, so I'm glad that it's there.

The service is extremely poor and slow, but the atmosphere is nice.

Food is ...ok.  I'd recommend this place for happy hour and appitizers, but it's not really a good place for dinner.  The wings are surprisingly good... i also love the hummus plate, but that's about it.

Cons:  bad service, not especially good food
Pros: atmosphere, great happy hour prices, and.... it's better than applebee's  =/

I'll start off by saying I love McMenamins. And I enjoy the fact I can come here and get a Rubinator close to home, or a bottle of Black Rabbit Red.
However, this is my least favorite McMenamins I have been to. Firstly, it's in a friggin strip mall. Secondly the service has never been consistently good here. The food is mediocre, but I feel that way about all of the McMenamins bars. The only time I really enjoy the food is when I stay at one of their hotels that have the fancier restaraunts inside.
Overall, I'll say this "Access to McMenamins beer and wine in Snohomish County is better than having to drive to Seattle."

This is a McMenamins bar, nothing more, nothing less.

With that, even one of their basic bars is still worth a visit.  The bar here is in the center in its wooden majesty.  I can't help think it reminds me of the McMenamins bar in Queen Anne, and the Ringlers Bar in Portland.  They're sort of cookie cutter, but hey, if it works, why mess.

They do serve food here, and of course have some of their decent brews.  If you're in the area and looking for a chill place to chill, chill here.

Great neighborhood bar!  This is the place I go when I meet a friend for drinks and appetizers.   I always order the Porter, though the Ruby, Hammerhead and Stout are fantastic too. I am addicted to their cheeseburgers and find it hard to order anything else, but when I have strayed from the cheeseburger, everything else has been good too. I love this place . . .or any McMenamins, really - they all have great beer and wine, great food (can you say crispy cajun tater tots with ranch?) and you really can't beat the prices for what you get.

The atmosphere is warm, woody and old-timey and the booths are private. The copious amounts of polished wood is definitely a trademark of the McMenamin establishment and there is no shortage of it here.

The only weird thing about this particular McMenamins is that it's in a strip mall near Jiffy Lube and Safeway.  The usual McMenamins establishment is in an old school or hotel and has real character, so the strip mall thing is a bit bizarre if you know the chain.  That being said. . . once you get inside, the ambiance makes you completely forget you are in a strip mall next to Check into Cash.

Their late night happy hour (after 10pm) is ridiculous - $2 burgers!  What is this,1982?? That price absolutely rocks for the couple trying not to spend $50 every time they go out for dinner.

The service is very laid back and can be a bit hit and miss in terms of speed, but overall the ambiance and food make up for the sometime slowness of the staff.  I just adjust the tip accordingly :)

In with a group for just a few drinks.  Pretty old school place, with lots of wood and open space inside.  It's located in a strip mall, so there is plenty of parking.  Uh, I'm running out of positives here.

Beer was okay, but I was expecting something a little more.  Not much in the way of appetizing food, so I passed.  Disappointing.

Horrid, horrid, horrid service! We had to hunt down our waitress to order, to get drink refills, to get our appetizer, to get our dinner, to get our bill and to get our credit cards back! Come to think of it our waitress disappeared half way through and we ended up with someone else who was just as bad. Food was just meh, not worth the hassle.

The upside:  I cannot recall having a bad meal here.  From the fish and chips to the burgers to the wraps, everything has been well done and tasty.  And while it might be easy to complain about the portions, they serve what is probably a correct portion, not an American portion for those of you who think "big boned" is sexy.  It's not, fatty.  Hit the treadmill.

But you won't necessarily have to hit the treadmill eating here because the food should fill a normal person and not allow you to gorge.  That right there is a positive.

The beers....not something I'm particularly qualified to comment on since I've never had them.  However, my dear wife who is a beer conniseur swears that the beers are worth the trip.  This also is not something for the standard Miller or Budweiser drinker.  These are murky, cloudy things that you cannot see your fingers on the other side.  So if that's your thing, better skip across the street to Baxters where a full set of teeth isn't required.

So with that, why oh why do they get three stars?  Service.  And that's not a dig on the people that work there because every time they've been pleasant and friendly.  No, service here is just dog slow.  And that's not even accurate.  Tortoise slow is probably more on par.  If the building were properly air conditioned to where I would form ice on my earlobes, today would be an ideal day to eat at McMenamins.  But no.  We clocked initial ordering @ 10 minutes in which isn't terrible, but an hour to get food which was terrible, especially for something relatively simple.

All in all if I'm in a patient lounge about mood?  Sure, I'll go back.  If I have things to do and the meal is a stopping point that I want to enjoy but not enjoy waiting for?  I'll cruise up to O'Donnells or elsewhere.

A little unsuspecting spot in Mill Creek happens to be one of the best kept secrets...well not for long.  McMenamins is a great little place with stellar drafts.  Fun decor with dark lighting.  Dark wood furniture and a great bar.

Didn't have the food, but the tater tots smelled spectacular.  I've heard that the food is pretty good. I will probably try their food, but have enjoyed their libations thoroughly.

Excellent brew-pub in Mill Creek.  Honestly, I've never had a bad meal here.  They draft all their own beers, all of which are quite good as well.  Very chill atmosphere, have never had bad service either.

Everyone raves about the tater tots, and they are actually pretty good, I guess I'm just not a tot fan in general.  But if you've never tried them, you probably should.

Prices are a little high I suppose, but with two people you can probably enjoy a dinner for around $25 or so.

Of course this is only one location of this NW chain.  There are others all over the place; Seattle, Olympia, etc.  And of course, if you like this place you HAVE to check out their home base/headquarters/brewery/lodge the EDGEFIELD just north of Portland.  Can't stress enough - Totally Awesome Retreat!

They have delicious hard cider!  I will be back simply because of that!  It's hard to find cider on the menu 'round these parts, and now that I've found it, this will most certainly be my go-to place for a drink or two.  It's cozy and the servers are friendly... and stands out to me as a more relaxing place to enjoy a drink and perhaps a snack or a meal.  I've only tried the tater tots (delicious! seriously!) and the fries (okay, on the greasy side), but they had a fair amount of food to choose from.  Prices for the food seemed a little on the steep side.  Even most of the salads were in the $12-range, as I recall.

Still, a definite recommend for the north end.

A great brewpub. The house beers are excellent, the food delicious pub fare, and the atmosphere very comfortable. I popped in for a beer and burger just to see what it was like and enjoyed it immensely.

The price is a bit on the highside for a pub menu, but the quality of the food is a bit higher than what I've encountered in other brewpubs. Your mileage may vary, but if you're in the mood to try some good northwest beers and enjoy some great pub food then this is a great place for ya

There are not that many places in and around the Bothell/Mill Creek area to hang out for a drink...unless you consider the lounge at a Denny's a neato place to hang out.

I've always thought their motto should be, "If you can pronounce our name correctly, you're cut off for the night".

But this is a pertty chill place. It lacks the uber-pretentiousness or uber-chain feel that permeates the suburbs.

WIth that, the possibilities of what you could do here enjoyably are kind of endless. Groups, intimate get togethers, or just needing time alone for awhile.

    3.5 stars.
I'd raise it if they were closer to my house, or used my suggested motto

    Remember that show - "Cheers"?
...."Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came...."

OK, so maybe they don't know your name (although I bet they can if you come often enough) but the atmosphere of the place is exactly as warm and inviting as it was on Cheers, only fewer Hollywood stars are there (if you don't count me, that is :).

This is one of those few places that has loads of established character, and style that is very relaxed yet clean.

The interior is un-intimidating, and you've got super cool seating choices.  Large tables in wooden booths where you can have a lot of space and privacy just in case your mother-in-law is complaining about something again.  You can opt for some tall bistro tables where you can just share an appetizer and a cozy conversation over a drink with your love or if you're alone you can choose to sit by the bar which is roomy and always exciting.

I love the idea of a place that feel like a bar but you are welcome to come with your kids.

The menu is a traditional comfort food, and what else would you want in a place that feels so much like home.   If you ever feel like an appetizer you must go for the veggies and humus dip.  They make their own humus, that is absolutely superb, the best, THE BEST!  The veggies portion is generous and crispy so lately this is what I order instead of dinner, and I feel healthy and happy.

Of course, to help me feel this happy I get their very stiff cocktails.  It seems they never go cheap on alcohol, just the way I like it.  So McMenamins cocktails taste like a dessert which will make you more than tipsy if you're not careful.

All in all, this is the best place, I've found so far, to hang out an relax and drink in the suburbs.  I'm thinking of throwing my own b'day party there, and that should tell you a lot.

Number one reason to be here is the beer, but the food is also mighty fine.

Mac & Cheese, Jambalaya and hush puppies are my all time favorites. Terminator Stout and Hammerhead ale are two great beers- ask for the seasonal, too. Ask for a sample, they'll give you one alright. One the size of the Fremont Oktoberfest mugs, and while that's not saying a lot (three ounces) it's enough to learn if you like it. The staff is so crazy smart too, they know so much about what they are servin up. Knowing your trade- i respect that. Ask them the differences between an ale, a lager and a pils. They'll know, you bet your Irish ass they'll know.

The best recommendation I can make is to get the beer sampler the first few times you go to any McMenamin's pub. This will be your best way to get to know the place in a short amount of time.

This is a great place to hang out. The atmosphere is inviting--lots of wood booths and pub art (signs, etc.) on the walls.  You have a surprising amount of privacy as you nosh and talk your night away.  The waitstaff does a great job of both making sure you have what you need and leaving you alone.  I've spent hours in here without feeling like I was bugging the waiters.

The food is decent enough for pub-grub.  It's the usual fare: burgers, sandwiches, salads, etc.  My husband swears by their mac and cheese which is super creamy and rich.  The beers are yummy and well priced.  You can eat here and barely make a dent in your wallet.

Since I live out in the boonies, the location is great for me.  Just a few miles from home!  If you find yourself up in the burbs, check this place out.
