This is just for the take-out fried gizzards we ordered (Safeway has had a gizzards dry spell for ages now, and we were freaking out).
Good news: they are apparently readily available and orderable @ later hours, and the same price as Safeway ($4.99-lb). They are evenly breaded to hide their hideous true nature.
Less-good news: the breading is really thick, gritty and crunchy (I prefer a thinner & chewier coating of batter), with maybe a little too much seasoning in the mix. I don't like the breading competing with the gristly, meaty texture of the gizzards.
But yay for these guys providing us with a backup for our giblets cravings! Now if only they would ease up on the batter & add livers to their menu, we could give Safeway the finger and rely on Just Left.
*joy
I went here because the reviews seemed generally decent. Â Going out on a Tuesday night I was more interested in eating a meal than getting drunk. Â
Highlights:
good TV
good service at the bar (sat there)
lots of activities (darts, arcades, pulltabs, etc)
burger
Lowlights:
Greasy food in general (burger was simple and decent)
Onion rings were terrible (tasted like fish from old fry grease)
Potato skins were GREASY and very soggy
I will go back and give it another shot... but I won't order any fried food out of fear that it will taste like whatever is stuck on the bottom. Â Also, probably better as a place to get drunk/watch a game then have a meal.
