I found this little gem via Yelp while we were staying in the area for about a week. I stopped in to the bakery/coffee shop side of the business for coffee & croissants during my walk to the U of Chicago campus on morning and I was hooked. Quick service and delicious bakery treats. The next morning, I chose the cinnamon roll - OMG! Quite possibly the best cinnamon roll I've ever had. Imagine flaky croissant dough, but with cinnamon filling and in the form of a cinnamon roll. Pure bliss! The only thing I'd change is to cut down on the raisins in the filling.
Before we left town, I stopped in and stocked up on a few croissants and cinnamon rolls for the next few days. I was sad to eat the last of my goodies. I wish there was a great bakery like this near my home!
I did dine in the restaurant for lunch before we left town. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and it was very cheesy, not much chicken. Your typical chicken quesailla, I suppose. Our server was very attentive and I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. My dining companions also enjoyed their meals - I believe one had pizza and the other chose a sandwich.
If I'm ever back in this neighborhood, this place will definitely be on my "Must visit" list!
Pretty good selection, reasonably priced. Â If it's not busy this is a good lunch option if not pressed for time. Â I really like the shoestring fries, like the grilled cheese (I add avocado). Â Some items can be misses (IMO) like the veggie chili - but it's fun to try several items on he menu with friends and share. Â
Deli Sandwiches - YUM - I really like that Medici offers many veggie options. Â Not that I don't eat meat, I do, but I am VERY picky and tend to favor non-meat sandwiches and in most places they areVERY limited, not here.
Parking is really bad...those revenue people are like hawks looking to give tickets so feed the meters.
If you wanna come back for dinner, bring some libations - Medici is BYOB
