This place is a gem. They have great food and great service. Everything I've ordered has been excellent, every time. I recommend the shish faoouk sandwich (pardon sp), it's an awesome baked chicken breast with a good healthy dose of turmeric (not spicy, it's mildly spiced and delicious), diced big into a pita, with fresh tomatoes, lettuce, and a nice tahini sauce. Also, the falafel, basterma, and kofta kabob are the best I've had in a restaurant. The lunch sandwich special will cost you $6.50 with tax, fries, and fountain drink. The owner is friendly, the chefs are great, and it's just right off route 57. I'm glad my wife saw this place when we were at guitar center next door! I plan to return for lunch frequently, and will continue to bring the family by on the occasional weekend.

I went to this restaurant with a friend who lives in the area.  She was very excited to have Egyptian food come to her neighborhood/suburb.  The menu is quite diverse and has something for everyone, so if you have a picky eater, the restaurant has a good number of standards to satisfy all palates.  If, however, you are interested in the Egyptian cuisine, I highly recommend the lamb - the marinade was out of this world; I had the entree plate which came with grilled veggies and rice.  My friend had the falafel; she thought it was ok.  There was a wonderful lentil soup that my friend had as an appetizer that was great.  The hummus was tasty as well.

The service was friendly and very accommodating.  Note for people with food allergies, be careful, there are some desserts that come packaged from Egypt and the staff (at least the night we were there) was not so knowledgeable about the ingredients.  I asked repeated if something had nuts, I was told no, but as soon as the "special" complimentary dessert came, I recognized it as baklava and knew it was off-limits.

Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant and hope they do enough business to stay open.  Check it out, they have very good hours and are open late!!!

My wife and I were out shopping for the holidays.  We stop at the Guitar Center in Country Clubs Hills.  It's not open yet!  What should we do to kill time?  Well our usual response is, let's get something to eat.  Any new restaurants in the area?  Let's stop over and give Mena's Restaurant a try.  Neither of us have ever had Egyptian food before.

Well this newly opened (20 days and counting) restaurant, is a family run business.  I just love these little family run businesses in our area.  Super friendly service and nice and clean environment.

My wife and I start by ordering a plate of Hummus, creamy chickpeas, tahini, garlic, olive oil and parsley, all served with pita chips for $4.99.  It was good, a little bit more runny than we are use to but still good.  We also ordered Shaweama sandwich, layers of marinated lamb, beef and chicken with tomatoes and onion with fries for $11.99.  I thought this was very good, my wife thought it was huge but just okay.  Maria did not care for the seasonings that were used though.  We also ordered the Scrambled Eggs and Corn Beef plate, which were two scrambled eggs, feta cheese and corn beef chunks for $7.99.  This also was good, a bit salty which we were warned about but very creamy tasting.  We also had two drinks and some mint tea.  Finally we did receive two free samples from the owner.  We received the Crispy Falafel, two pieces, lava beans, onion, parsley, tomatoe slices, cucumber slices and spices served with tahini and finally from the dessert menu, Konafa and Baklava.  My wife loved the Baklava, she usually does and I thought the Konafa was better.  Again creamy tasting inside but very good.  I guess you can't really complain when you are served items for free.

Well overall our meal was very cheap we thought.  The service was very friendly.  We hope this family run business stays around for a while.  And if you are in the south west suburbs and would like to try some Egyptian food, take a run over to Mena's Restaurant in Country Club Hills.
