Stopped here after a long, hot drive on a Sunday night at the end of June around 9 p.m. Temperature still in the high 80s and dry. What's with this place? I'm parched and needed food and drink. Relieved to find a place that was open, especially a place that looked inviting, a walk down the stairs, outdoor seating and a bar!  I sat at the bar with a couple of young regulars and another guy at the end. Mixed Martial Arts on the tube and baseball highlights on the other. Info for you alkies: Beer selection okay in bottles, but ordinary, all the regular Mexican beers, Dos XX, Tecate, Pacifico, etc., plus the usual Gringo brews, plus Sierra and Blue Moon on tap, and a full bar. Not sure about quality of the cocktails, but there's a pretty young maiden behind the counter. I usually like mine made by unshaven old Irish guys with a bad cough, but then again I'm not ordering anything with an umbrella in it, okay? Ordered chicken fajita, the friendly waitress and bar maid very helpful. Got chips, which were homemade, both corn and flour tortilla chips with salsa. Crispy and perfect with alcohol. Then the fajita came and I must say, it was exceptional. The chicken was essentially a stir fry, but it had tender seasoned meat and fresh vegetables, peppers, onions, and in the sauce, I swear they used a splash of soy sauce. Very tasty. A side dish of Spanish rice, refried beans and a healthy dollop of guacamole and pico de gallo. Excellent. If I were a local, I'd be a regular.

If the food matched the great waterside outdoor seating, this place would be awesome. Pleasant service, they treated our dog great... But the food was fairly "meh".

Ate an early dinner here.  Food was very good - kids like their burritos and I like the stewed pork with rice & beans.  The spanish rice was awesome, the black beans were nicely flavored.  The pork was delicious with the right amount of lime, a little salty (then again  I don't cook with salt so average is salty for me) but I didn't have problems eating it all.  The food was served fast, the wait staff was polite and attentive.  We ate inside which I kinda regret because the patio was very pretty and the weather was warm enough to eat outside.  They brought out some freshly fried chips and OMG it was melting in my mouth with the fresh salsa. It also came with a mexican style coleslaw.  Overall a good eating experience and would go back when we visit Sonora again.

Service is quite good - very friendly. The food was average - they served cheap grocery store tortillas, the refried beans were soupy and nothing special. Cool spot - I'd go back to hang out and have a beer but as far as the food goes I would try something else

Wow, this place should not be open! I just need to make a list. I couldn't believe this...
    1. Host (who was also the waitress) kept sneaking in a corner drinking (alcohol? It looked like it)
    2. Kids (yes kids) were clearing and cleaning the tables
    3. Chips and salsa tastes like won tons....ick
    4. Bathrooms disgusting
    5. 2 doors were broken (they were actually getting a complaint the night we were there about it)
    6. The meat was tough
    7. Their red sauce is like water along with their beans
    8. Food in general tastes like poor quality cafeteria food
    9. Over priced
The host was nice...that's about it!

Good food, good prices, friendly, helpful staff, and a great location.  When I'm in the mood for Mexican food in Sonora, CA, this is the place I go.  Only one problem, poor parking, keeps me from giving this place a fifth star.

We had high hopes for what looked like a restaurant with ambiance. Their patio overlooks a creek and we thought it would be great for our girls to look at during dinner.

    Pros:
    _ friendly staff
    _ good kids menu

    Cons:
_ Wasps buzzing around you as you try to eat. I can't believe the staff didn't warn us before we sat down. Instead, they said we should just ignore them and they won't bother us. The fact we had two very young children with us didn't seem to concern them.
_ The recommended steak fajitas by our server were very poor quality steak. The meat was so poor I couldn't finish the food. My husband's chicken fajitas also were subpar.
_ Left feeling like we had overpaid for cafeteria-like food.

Dropped in on our way to Yosemite.  Great kids meals, awesome margaritas. Order off the al carte menu and it's very inexpensive. Chicken tamales are best I've ever had.  Hidden gem in Sonora!!!

Walking around Sonora all morning in 100 degree heat and starving can make one pretty grumpy. I knew right away that a little coffee shop and a pastry would never do but that seemed to be all that was open and my patience was wearing thin. Walking another block and just about ready to give up I saw what I had been waiting for all morning....An OPEN sign!!!!!! Could it be? Real food at 1130 in the morning?!?! It was clear the food Gods were looking out for me! So my friend and I took a chance and walked down the staircase to this little Mexican food place just above a garden patio. We were welcomed instantly and offered seating either inside or out, clearly it was too hot outside so we sat down swiftly inside! The menu was large enough to give us options but not so large that it became stressful to decide. Water, chips and salsa greeted us at the table within just minutes of sitting down and our order was promptly taken. My friend had the Taco Salad which she was thrilled with but let's get down to business folks....The fish tacos!!!! Pure heaven, chipotle spiced fish with pico de gallo and fresh guacamole wrapped in corn tortillas, served with rice and beans. Whomever the chef is; they know exactly what they are doing. These tacos were quite possibly the best fish tacos I have ever had! The prices were spot on and the server was both friendly and attentive! If you're in the area you can not pass up a quick stop for an amazing meal!

We were in the area to window shop and check out the town while we waited to catch the Super Moon this weekend. This was a nice surprise that was off the beaten path down a set of stairs. The weather couldn't have been better for a meal on the patio. The food was served up fast, hot and fresh. Prices were more reasonable then expected and the staff was very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

We stopped by here after a trip to Yosemite and it was the only place still open after 9pm on a Sunday evening. At first, we thought this place was going to be a tourist trap, especially with its dark staircase leading down to the entrance, but it was actually pretty good. On their menu, they had burritos, quesadillas, chips and guacamole, tortas, enchiladas, all the usual Mexican restaurant stuff. My steak burrito was very tender and definitely worth a try if you ever get the chance!

Great place to sit outside in the shade right on the creek & enjoy chips/salsa & a margarita.  We had the nachos & they were excellent.  Very pleasant atmosphere, will definitely make another trip to Mi Pueblo on a hot day.

We decided to try out Mi Pueblo because of its location (please see Melissa's description.) After a long drive, my husband & I thought we should reward ourselves with a pitcher of margarita. In addition, we ordered several dishes for us and our kids. We thought the margarita was very weak and the food was not worth mentioning. However, the staff was very nice and helpful.

Summary: Below average food and drinks, average service, above average location.

I didn't notice this place last time I was in Sonora and heard that it was new while checking into my hotel.  After a long day of work I felt a margarita was in order, so I decided to try our "Mi Pueblo" and report back to the Yelping Public.

Mi Pueblo is located right of of Washington Street in the heart of downtown Sonora and next to a creek and a park filled with apparently local youths playing hacky-sack and the like.  So far, I like.  The outdoor patio section is immediately adjacent to the creek, where crawdads and fish are visible from my vantage point.  I like a lot.  I'm quickly helped, and the staff seems friendly and attentive.  I'm a fan so far... and I ask about their happy hour specials (since the sign says they have a happy hour until 7pm).  There are two margaritas on special, and martinis.  I select the Patron Margarita and turn my attention to the menu.  My drink and chips and salsa show up promptly, and so far I am very happy.

Unfortunately, this is the end of my happy story.  The Patron Margarita is fair, but as I find out later, $7 on happy hour special (ee-gads!)  The salsa is a bit like spicy katsup and the chips are average.  Upon inspection of my neighbors table, it appears they have been given another salsa I was not offered.  I covet their salsa.  The menu is printed on color images of a palapa, Yosemite and a tropical beach, and has at least one misspelled word.  I ponder how expensive reprinting their menu in color is going to be.  I order the shrimp fajitas for $13, and though the arrive quickly, it comprises of six salty and too fishy prawns (which lack any other seasoning), about eight slices of bell pepper, two lime wedges, two tortillas, a plate of beans, rice, sour cream and pico, and lot of onions.  I eat, and appreciate that they've not contaminated my food with guacamole, and eat of of politeness, reminding myself this is a small town.

At this point, I'm still a fan and am planning on giving them 4 stars.  Sure, the food isn't great, but a decent margarita, great location and friendly staff still has me.  I finish eating, let the waitress know I'm done and would like to order a regular margarita.  She leaves, and leaves my dishes.  She brings my drink, and doesn't touch my dishes, I finish my drink and get my bill, and not a single dish has been touched.  At this point there is hardly any room left on my small table between the chips and salsa, two empty margarita glasses, fajita skillet and condiments plate.   Plus my regular margarita tastes more like artificial margarita flavoring then actual margarita.  I'm becoming increasingly concerned about my experience.

Then out come my bill.  I notice it seems high.  I take the time to review the bill since my waitress doesn't take my credit card right away.  $12.99 fajitas, $7 Patron margarita, $4.75 regular margarita... $31.73.  Noticing the bit of a math error, I let my waitress know who does, kindly, change the bill.  Unfortunately, I'm not at all buzzed from what were apparently not very strong margaritas, and I am no longer amused.  My waitress then further ruins my good vibes by yelling at the youths in the park next to us, reminding them "this is a restaurant."  I walk back to my hotel bitter about the experience and my wasted solo dinner out.

I hope that Mi Pueblo finds it's rhythm and takes advantage of its perfect opportunity as the margarita bar I want it to be, but it isn't there yet.  I hope the owner pulls their menu together, and turns this into the awesome Mexican Restaurant it could be.  I'll wait on other Yelpers to let me know if I should ever try it again.  Until then, adios.
