The kid upfront did not give a very good 1st impression. He asked the same people three times what they were waiting on. The same guy waiting next to me was waiting for 40 minutes for his take out. The concierge at our hotel said that it is always packed, and she was right. There was a wait....but there were open tables everywhere. They were way understaffed. My waiter was about 16 or 17 yrs old, but he did do a good job. The chips were okay, but my wife LOVED the salsa. The food really was excellent. I can't say ANYTHING at all bad about that. My wife definitely wants to come back.
Review Source:Came here Sunday night because were STARVING and left very full and satisfied. Â
We initially came just for tamales, but once we sat down we decided we would have a full dinner, too. Â
The pork tamales are fantastic. Â They are huge and covered in a delicious red sauce. Â
Dave got the enchiladas rancheros, which I wasn't a big fan of, but he really liked them. Â
I got the shrimp quesadillas, which certainly made up for my awful shrimp meal I had earlier in the day. Â The guac that came with both meals was also very yummy. Â
As leery as we were of a Mexican restaurant in French Lick, it was well worth it.
We went in around 7 pm. Good, visible location. Once we got inside, very dim lighting. They had 2 big TV. They put the game on when we requested, thanks. We had to wait long time to order, get our plates, and finally get our check. But the food was good for a Mexican restaurant in middle of no where. Very slow service.
Review Source:We needed a place to eat in French Lick as the restaurants in the hotels were a bit pricy. My mother doesn't like Mexican but we thought we'd try it anyway. We liked it a lot and would eat there again when in French Lick. Portion size good (too much like everything nowadays), prices very good, friendly place, everyone seemed to know the waiters as they must have been regulars.
Review Source:Considering how small French Lick/West Baden is (are) this is a really good Mexican Restaurant. Â They've got all the standard fare, plus some new ones (I've had chile Colorado before, but they make a Quesadilla out of theres!) even Mexican spins on catfish. Â Good prices, good portions. Â Had takeout so I can't really comment on service, but the guy at the counter was nice.
Review Source:Went on a Sunday night with a party of 6. It was moderately busy, but there we're plenty of open seats. Waited around 10 minutes for a seat, around 25 minutes for someone to actually take our order, and 25 minutes for the food to arrive. Didn't plan on dinner being an hour and 45 minute affair. That being said the food was good and the service was friendly despite being slow. Salsa was a little runny for my taste, like it a bit chunkier. Prices we're reasonable for the area and quality. They were out of Draft beer, had to settle for a bottle.
Might have been short staffed that night, but the experiance was ridiculously slow. I'm used to ridiculously fast service at my local mexican cuisine establishments; this was the polar opposite.
Typical mid-western Mexican place located in a small strip mall just past the French Lick Springs hotel. Â We stopped in for a late lunch and we were the only customers in the place. Â The food was okay, nothing special and the server did a good job. Â The one weird thing was the lighting, it was really, really dim, even during the day. Â Maybe they were trying to save on their electric bill? Â Probably would try again for an earlier lunch or maybe even dinner, but only because of the lack of dining options in the area.
Review Source:Mmmmmmmmmmmm.... I have to admit, small, highly hick, semi-white-trash towns and Mexican restaurants, kind of scare me... but it wasn't my pick so I can roll with the punches! Â
I had a special request steak filled chimichanga  and my boyfriend had a wet burrito.  My Chimi was deliciouso and the wet burrito was served up on a plate that could have held a med pizza and wast loco bueno!!! I have yet to find a wet burrito close to home like this!
I wouldn't drive 3 hours for the food, but if I am ever back in the area, I could deff drop in for a big bite!
