Who would have ever guessed such a great restaurant existed in a town like Jasper, IN? (These reviews are really making it seem like I hated Jasper, aren't they? I didn't, it's lovely, just so not what I'm used to).
Mill House wouldn't seem out of place if you took it off of Mill St. and plunked it on Roosevelt Rd. in Lombard. It's a laid back, bar food kind of place, with a couple of (really good) housebrewed beers to make it particularly noteworthy.
The food is a solid B. The burger (with fried pepperjack balls on it!) was very good, the fries were beer-battered and delicious, and even the rolls that came as part of the soup bar (a cool idea I wish more places had) were really good.
The service was very friendly and on top of things, which is always appreciated.
The real star was the beer, though. I had a nut brown ale that had a delicious caramelly flavor to it. I sampled my friend's English pale ale that was also very tasty, with a slight sweetness to its hoppiness. My friend Erin would also add that they had a "young brewery" taste to them, whatever the hell that means.
Definitely a great place I wish wasn't 300 miles away.
