Happy hr is good here and cheese cajun fries are really good when cooked right. The happy hour includes the chicken wings and appetizers.  Half off until 7.
Bands here are loud. Hard to talk and hear.  Local spot... I'm a local and I like it here.  This is my local hangout during the winter.  Beef brisket sandwich was terrible!! 2 slices of meat thats unacceptable.
The pork bar b que is good.

Great place for ribs, beer and music - used to be a great place!

Seems as like every time we go into Mojo Bones in Oceanview something has changed. It has gone from serving drinks and beer in plastic cups then back to glass. The music can be Jass, Blues, then to can't hear yourself for the next month loud!  The place isn't large enough for that kind of hearing loss!  To introducing me to Red Stag straight up and this last time it was chilled.  OH MY WORD!  Don't Touch The Stag!  Chilled Stag changes the taste so much that you are no longer drinking Red Stag, you are now drinking syrup!  This last time, the food was less than desirable.  The wings and the Mac and Cheese dishes have been changed from the Original Mojo Bones to standard fare.

Why go there anymore? The beer is cheap.  The Red Stag is a good price, but only it you can find an unopened and unchilled bottle!

Besides that, no desire to go back.   Guess those sweat shirts from before will now just be standard issue and nothing special!

    Wow, how things can change!

First the good news:  Mojo Bones still supports local music.  And the really cool vibe and atmosphere is still here in abundance, it evokes a perfect balance of hipster dive bar.  If you peeked your head into this bar in any city in the world, I would bet money that you would walk in for a drink, just to see what was going on.

And if you do that, when the waitress FINALLY brings you a food menu, politely but firmly refuse it.

Between two of us, not one thing on our plates were anything beyond acceptable.  The ribs were NOT fall off the bone tender, in fact mine seemed slightly burned.  As mentioned in another review, the chicken was baked chicken with some sauce poured over it.  The pork has a strange taste to it.  Everything seemed somewhat cold to me as well.

But here is the real crime:  The Mojo Pit Beans.  These are nothing more than Van Camp's Pork and Beans (or possibly a cheaper brand).  That's right, absolutely ZERO BBQ taste to them at all.

Over everything on the table for the two of us, the only thing that stood out as at least average was the french fries!

So...Mojo's for Music and Drinks?  Certainly, you will not go wrong.  Mojo's for food?  Based on this trip, I would say that you are better off with the fast food options across the street.

First time here was great, the bartender during the day was nice.  She switched out food for me.  made sure i felt at home.  laugh at me when i added sugar to her already strong mojo lemonade.  the catfish was great, the greens needed some seasoning, the mac and cheese needed some help.  by the people were great.

went back the next day and had a different waitress who would not accommodate me.  I actually order the same food.  I had the pull pork pretty ok, greens (no seasoned), corn bread (it was cold), cold slaw (yuck).

it's one of those things that's like a hit or miss.

In terms of dive bar and dark, dank barbecue joint, they got that vibe right. I'm not a huge meat eater like I once was, so take my food judgements for what they are- really saucy meats, but not over cooked. Standard, and not really remarkable. The cornbread is really what I loved.

If your idea of barbequed chicken is baked chicken with sauce poured over it, you'll love this place.
