Red Dog Saloon

I don't remember much of Friday night but after going through my Yelp feed I apparently uploaded photos and a tip of this place. Just kidding...mostly.

After Shamrockin' or greening of Ghent the Yelp crew and I trolled on over after watching The Deloreans play and decided to enjoy some of their many happy hour specials. Yes, happy hour after 9pm. It's buy one get one...what exactly from the food menu I couldn't tell you and there are a few drink specials. Happy hour after 9pm on a Friday. You get an extra star for that!

The place was packed of "Irish" people. Every table was full. Service, surprisingly, was good. I don't remember a hitch while we were there and trying to flag our waitstaff down for drinks was easy.

Their chili cheese fries are part of the BOGO so I recommend that you place two orders and go to town! We sure did.

I don't often have a lot of good things to say about this place, in fact I usually steer people away from them. The happy hour is decent but the service is often less than desirable and don't even bother complaining to management if you do have a problem.  However last night we ended our Greening of Ghent 2013 by stopping in for a final round of drinks and some apps and Red Dog surpassed my expectations.

I was hanging with Xerxes, Dani, Yajaida & Jeff and unfortunately didn't catch our waitresses name however she was probably the best server I've ever had during my visits there over the years. It was about 10pm when we arrived and the place was uncharacteristically  jammed packed due the Greening of Ghent going on outside. All I have to says is that our server was effortlessly able to get our drinks and food to us quickly and most of all correctly. We hung out for a while, had a couple of rounds and called it a night.  I really enjoyed my visit there.

Nothing good to say about this place. WAIT! I take that back the beer was the only good thing about this place. The staff was in their own zone, all of them behind the bar. The place looked like it needed some renovations and paint job. The atmosphere since we walked in was loud, not in a good way. A few men sitting at the bar started a very loud verbal argument with the manager and apparently the police was called. We didn't stick around nor do we plan on returning to this place.
