Our service was fine. Food came out at a reasonable pace. So the two big gripes that other's seem to have here I didn't encounter. As for the food, it was overpriced for what we received.
The hubs ordered the Cuban Sandwich with a side of sweet potatoes. His side was completely inedible, and this was from a guy who loves sweet potatoes. It was a gross watery mess. The sandwich was fine, but you know I'm picky with my Cubans. It had hardly any mustard, about three small pickle chips, and used a slice of pork loin in lieu of the traditional (and far more flavorful) roasted pork shoulder. It was just lazy, especially from a supposed Cuban restaurant.
I went with a crab cake that came with rice and beans and asparagus. The crab cake was almost entirely crab but really didn't taste like much. The rice and beans were fine. The asparagus was a little burnt.
I like that there are options throughout the menu to make some meals more affordable. One meal could be made as a tapas, my crab cake dinner had the option of one or two cakes to help mitigate the cost. I won't be back.
YUCK. I came back to give this place a second shot at maybe giving it a higher review. I am no where near impressed. The happy hour deals for well drinks are good- 2 dollars for a decent vodka cranberry. The coconut shrimp is as I remember and I liked it. I ordered a burger and was a little perplexed at how terribly they screwed up a BURGER. It was dry and flavorless. The bread is good and I really liked the herb mayonnaise or whatever they used.
What turned me off, however, was the hostess. A dark haired young girl. Wearing too short white shorts and an unhappy face, she greeted every customer with a smug smile and then talked about them behind their backs. I'm sitting right next to her as she greeted a guy who said he was meeting friends. He was a little short but she turned her back and talked bad about him. Just because he can't see you, doesn't mean other people don't see you.
Customer service is important to me- always has been. She ruined it. There are better places on Granby- go there. Not Havana.
