Perfect place for meeting three different dates at the same time, if you ever have that problem.

Sophisticated Date? Take them into the dining area for the most amazing Potato Leek Soup ever made. Creamy, delicious and served with three different kinds of bread - including a to-die-for slice of Irish Soda Bread you can fight over.

Ugly Date? Keep them happy over at the bar. Big bar, lots of nice, dark wood work - nice dark lighting to help you with those beer goggles. Grab a big, fat burger. Delicuous, awesome fries.

Hot Date? Get your grind on over in the dance / party room behind the bar. Full bar there, too. Little stage. High tops. Bust a move.

You can keep all three dates happy, chow down, drink up AND get a workout running room to room. You are WELCOME for the tip!

Great for live music and drinks, but can get crazy and very crowded.

This is probably the biggest bar in the Danbury area and it has a big dance floor and plenty of room for indoor and outdoor dining. The bar staff is outstanding and the prices are pretty good. Live bands play and it does get loud. Another plus is the late hours and TONS of TVs.

When school is in session the crowd is mainly college students. Otherwise in the off-season and on weeknights, most of this people who come here are 35+. Parking might be difficult on Saturday nights! They do have bouncers and there's usually a cover Friday and Saturday nights. On those nights, be prepared, this place can be extremely crowded.

Overall, if you want a fun place with , a great bar and friendly staff, this is your place to go. If you don't like crowded places or very loud music, you may want to pass.

I was on the fence between giving this place a 4 or 3-star rating, but it's still one of the better happening places to go in Danbury.

This was a disappointing experience.  The slate steps leading up to the restaurant were cracked and loose.  The waitress sat us right next to another party even though there was no one else in the entire dining room.  We had to get up and seat ourselves elsewhere so that they would not hear our conversation and they ours.  The hamburgers are really meatloaf pressed as patties and the french fries, usually hard to get wrong, are actually tasteless here.  The melting snow was evident inside the dining area as two large drips splat next to our table.  A large, expanding pool of of water lay next to our table.  Overall, this was a waste of time and money.

    Lets be honest.....

People go here to kill time or get laid!  Food is pretty good, decent hang out, great bartenders......but we know what's on your mind when you show up at midnight on a saturday night, and it aint the potato skins!

Unless you're me.  The potato skins were nice and the band made me feel like I was celebrating new years all over again!

Come to Molly Darcy's with a mission.  Whatever that may be!  I didn't, and I believe that was my downfall.  Tip the coat check lady- she deserves it!

    Bottoms Up!!!

Place is so big it takes a few visits during busy nights and slow nights to learn the in and outs. If you want to get in free on busy nights then ask for a waitress for dinner service. Appetizers won't make you beat the cover. Go in on an empty stomach and get a steak sandwich (actual steak sliced into chumps, really good) or a Chicken Supreme. Biggest venue in Danbury. Very accommodating staff if you want to watch a channel on any tv. Too big to tell all.

I swear I had thought my hand had grown! Who still serves mini pints? In the pubs of Ireland, where I have hoisted my share of good pints of the black stuff,  I always felt that the glass I was holding was substantial why? Because it was. A true pint,  an  "Imperial Pint."  When I asked the barmaid if this place was a real Irish pub the nice lass with heritage of an island in the Mediterranean Sea told me the owners were from Ireland. When I told her about the pint glasses not being true pints she took another pint glass and poured water from one to the other to show they were the same.  Only problem was I wasn't drinking Coors light and did not expect a "authentic Irish pub" to be serving 16 oz  pints of Guiness for the same price you get a 20 oz. Imperial pint you get in Yonkers, Stamford, Rye, Norwalk, Mystic,Galway, Dublin, Rathdowney,.... Authentic my arse.

Stopped in for a later dinner one night with my wife. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food at this pub. We had the fish and chips and the baked cod. Both were cooked well and delicious. They had Magner's Cider on tap which is awesome. I got hooked on it when vacationing in Ireland and it is not always easy to find. Staff was very friendly, but seemed distracted and had to be reminded of what we had asked for multiple times.

I wouldn't call Molly Darcy's an Irish pub so much as I would call it an Irish-inspired megabar. Considering this place has a gigantic dining area, a loft with still additional seating, two bars, an outdoor patio, and a large stage complete with dance floor, this is not your Grandpa Seamus's classic alehouse...

Still, Darcy's rocks. -1 star for the cover charges, as if they don't make enough money from the food and drink here, but you'll always have a good time. Decent local bands, a karaoke night, and other fun events pervade the calendar on a regular basis.

The food is REALLY solid. The Tullamore Dew wings are an especially nice non-traditional Irish-ish dish, as are the classics like shepherd's pie and corned beef with cabbage. And you can always order a sandwich if none of the specialty dishes tickle your fancy.

Another slight criticism is the lack of drink specials. I wouldn't expect them to run them every night, but can a brother get a happy hour now and then?

It's definitey one of Danbury's best bars. You will pay for the experience, though. Nothing a little pregaming can't cure :).

I have been coming here since mimi's closed downtown. The food has always been great and I LOVE the shepards pie. The service is friendly and I never had a problem with an order here. Depending on the band on the weekends, it can be a really great time. St. Patty's day is  sooo much fun and the corn beef sandwhiches I look foward to. It's a diverse crowd and from time to time, we change it up and take the motorcycle there with a bunch of friends. They re roomy; so it's a nice location for parties and some speacial events.

$5 cover on the Friday evening we went. I was cool with it since I was a bit buzzed and could hear the bass thumping from outside. Dance floor was packed and I had to shimmy my way through to find a spot to jump around. Lotta men standing on the sidelines, oogling. Some were bold enough to try grinding sandwiches...which is a big no-no and YUCK!
Live music did covers of 80s songs. We sat down for their 30 min set and sang along, sippin' long island ice teas (very strong btw). DJ sets in between breaks were great--couldn't get enough techno. Bartenders were steadily busy but attentive. Lots of opportunity to people watch. Not bad Danbury, not bad.

Hubby and I visited on a Thursday evening. There was only two other tables in the dining area taken, which was nice. The lights were low and it was sort of quiet where we were. You could hear the music and crowd on the other side of the bar, but if you wanted an intimate dinner for two, you got it. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive. We ordered artichoke and spinach dip with veggies and chips. Wow, was that good! They must fry their chips(made from tortillas?) While we waited for our meal we drew pictures on the tablecloth! There was a sheet of white paper covering the whole table and a bucket of crayons for doodling. He tried the Magners cider and wow! it was the best ever. I got the beer battered fish and chips, which was excellent. The fish was moist with a great crunchy crust. Hubby ordered the rueben burger, which was very good also. We enjoyed our dinner and I'm sure we will travel the 45 minutes it takes to get there again.

3.5 stars. Molly's is my go-to for a night out in Danbury if I want to listen to live music and dance.  Every Fri and Saturday night - the dance floor is guaranteed to be packed! The crowd is usually large - a lot of college aged kids - but also adult friendly. The food is a little on the expensive side for typical Irish bar food - but it's about supply and demand! If the restaurant is packed every night - why lower the prices! I DO think the food has improved though...if you haven't eaten there in a few years - you may like it better now.

The bar is always packed, especially on the weekends or St. Pattys Day. Their food is decent but you really come here for the drinks.

I know, I know, five stars tends to make one look like a shill -- I suppose that if I could, I'd knock off a half-star for the huge crowds that appear on certain evenings.  That said, let's run down the list of facts about this joint:
-it's almost certainly the hopping-est joint in Danbury, but
-if you don't like crowds, you have probably four days a week where its surprisingly quiet and intimate
-the drink selection is extremely broad, perfectly-served, and very reasonably-priced
-the staff does their darnedest to make you feel welcome
        -the bartenders, ditto, and finally
-a goodly number of the crew are honest-to-goodness Irish People, but at the same time, they wisely avoid turning this into an "Irish Theme Park"...

...and you have a damn decent bar.  I've ordered food here probably ten times, both for eat-in, and to-go, and its killer comfort food.  American, Irish, and Irish-American: corned beef, a notably-good shepherd's pie, burgers, steaks, pub snacks, and frequently-good specials (I was partial to the Lamb Stew, and I don't even like lamb!) .  What really makes it great, though, is that you can come here for an all-out party, with the place packed to the rafters, and everyone dancing and living it up -- or you can come for a quiet after-work pint, a solid meal, or a relaxed evening of dancing/flirting.  It all depends on the day, and the time-of-day, which you come.

[Garth Algar] ...and they got a pool table, too!

    Indeed.  Good times.

I've never eaten here, so I can't comment on the food.... Drinks are reasonably priced & they have a large selection of wine, beer & spirits. I usually only go there on the weekend when they have live music. The place can get pretty crowded, but it's still fun. (Not much else going on in Danbury!!!)

My one complaint about Molly Darcy's is that it's just too expensive for what it is.  The food is OK.  More varied than "genuine" Irish pub grub.  But a plate of meatloaf should not be $16.

Growing up in the Bronx and Yonkers means growing up with Irish bars and restaurants. Molly Darcys is just like that. The woodwork everywhere and memorabilia and the nice big bar. I got the shephers pie which was awesome. The waitress was really good too. Will definitlely go back

I've eaten here about four times three of them were excellent. I've enjoyed their bangers an mash and the smoked salmon platter, decent assortment of beer, and a pretty good bar, though my last visit the food was def sub par..  Still all things in perspective it's at least a three star place with occasional three.five star moments

I really don't know what to think about this place. Some good, some bad.

I guess I'll start on a positive note, drinks are strong and the prices are good. I've never tried the food though.

Moving on, it is a huge place but gets insanely (and uncomfortably) crowded when there is live music on Saturday nights. I guess that is what people should expect on a Saturday night but it's really not fun to be pushed around all over the dance floor as people try and snake there way through to find friends or head to the bathroom.

Oh...the bathrooms...ICK! Way too small, and old, and never clean.

I'll probably keep going back because I know and like one of the bands that plays here, but otherwise it's not my first choice.

LET'S FACE IT: YOU'RE IN DANBURY SO YOU NEED A DRINK

So head on over to Molly Darcy's.  There's a decent after-work crowd with a good mix of young professionals and prices are reasonable.  The service can be a little slow, but the Irish bartender from Co. Kerry was great and he executed a perfect pour on my Guinness.

The bar food is actually pretty good and I really enjoyed their wings which are lightly battered and served with hot sauce on the side.   All in all, not a bad place.

Food is greasy, heavy, not flavorful, and overcooked.  Unfortunately, food was why my colleagues and I went there.  Waitress was friendly and attentive.  She gets one star.

The only reason it didn't get a single star is because of the large beer and wine list.  They have a great selection of domestic and imported beers at reasonable prices.

Molly Darcy's is the happening spot in Danbury for singles and couples. Yes there is a $5 cover charge on the weekends. Friday nights are a more younger crowd. They have a DJ a huge dance floor in the back and a more younger crowd. Saturday nights they have a band that plays which is usually good and the DJ comes on every once in a while to break it up. Saturday nights you can see a little bit older crowd because they come for the band, but you still have the younger ones there too.
They have one huge bar in the middle and a smaller one on the side. The bartenders are awesome and usually don't have to wait too long for drinks. They have an outside patio in the front to hang out in the summer and heaters in the winter. It's one of those bars where they know your name!!

Good place for a night out with friends. Bar is nice, ambiance is pretty low key. Food is only ok, but you really don't go to a place like this to eat...it's all about dancing and catching up.

I've gone out here a number of times and have enjoyed myself.  Its definitely an older crowd (35-50) when Western Connecticut U is not in session.  The live music on the weekends is always good, though there is usually a cover charge when they are playing.  Otherwise the owner is friendly, the pints are cold, and they have photo hunt.  What more could you ask for?

(Also, the few times I have eaten here I have been pleased as well.  Standard Irish fare w/ the pub theme to go along with it.  Not too shabby).

Just an overgrown singles bar with food related to being Irish.  The real draw here is the bar and the live bands on weekends.  Expensive food, reasonable drinks.  Definitely not a family dining experience.

This is a nice place to hang out with friends. From having a nice Irish dinner, to doing some dancing and drinking at the bar. Although their menu is simple, you can find something you like. If you like the Irish Pub ambiance, this is a cool place to be. They have some good live bands as well.
