4 stars is "Yay! Â I'm a fan." and that's how I feel about Widow Brown's Cafe. Â Food exceeded our expectations and service was prompt and friendly. Â Had a large salad with crispy chicken and a side of onion rings. Â Salad was EXCELLENT. Â Onion rings were batter dipped, which I don't really care for but they were certainly fine for those who do like them that way. Â Not greasy or unpleasant at all. Â I just prefer them breaded. Â Perfect for lunch. Â Looked at their dinner specials and almost ordered dinner instead - check them out. Â For a pub setting, I think they're serving a great selection and doing it well.
Review Source:It had been quite some time since I had a meal at Widow's. The original choice yesterday afternoon was Bluu, but upon finding out that they didn't open till 3 (and we needed to be on the road so I could catch my flight by then), we chose the next best place in the area. The first thing that I noticed was the brand new sign! I love it. The old sign was much harder to spot when coming down Federal Road.
Upon sitting down at Widow's, turn the menu over and read the history of the restaurant and the family who owns it. Any historical buff should enjoy this short read. The menu has typical American fare ranging from NY Strip to burgers and sandwiches. I had ordered what is known as a Rachel, which is a Reuben with pastrami instead of corned beef. I loved my sandwich, and I definitely want to come back to Widow's to try many of their other offerings.
Widow's prices are reasonable and the food is good. Go in for a late lunch (around 1:30 or 2) and you'll have the place to yourself.
