Montana's is a great place if you are looking for Country Line Dancing.  I'm not a super huge fan, but this place definitely fits the bill.

Beware -- there is a cover charge! Before 9PM I believe it's $5 but after that it goes up significantly.  However, the drinks are super cheap and make the cover charge worth it.  They do not serve any crazy mixed drinks according to the server but they have a huge selection of beer.

The place is huge.  They have a lot of table areas and private areas that I think you can rent. Do not be shocked if someone random comes up to you to dance, since that's the fun of country line dancing.  They have teachers on the floor so it's easy to catch on to the dances. They also occasionally play some pop music.

Besides the ugly bouncer being an ass ..I love this place. Yes some nights your regulars can seem stuck up and rude but if you don't care like I don't..it's so much fun! Fridays are not as crowded as Saturdays and if school is out...like summers(not as crowded) overall its a fun place

I was here for five minutes when an overly aggressive employee kicked me out because my over-shirt wasn't buttoned.

Didn't even bother to ask me to button it. Just came at me with an attitude and ruined everybody's good time.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

My boyfriend and I are new to the line dancing scene and Montana's is our new favorite place. Saturday nights have more "popular" music than the more traditional Friday nights but we always have a great time. Yes, sometimes it takes a little more time to get a drink when the place is packed, but I have been very happily surprised by how nice the bartenders are and how low my tab is at the end of the night. The bouncer is very nice and we've never had  a problem with anyone there.

    Helpful tips:

Get there early to get a table, and DON'T sit at someone's table if their drinks are there, someone tried to do that to us because they didn't understand the policy

If you're new, stay to the edges to learn a dance, don't get in the way of the experienced dancers, just watch them to pick up the steps, there are a lot of fantastic dancers there!

Not really sure what all the fuss is about regarding the bouncer.  I showed up and had no problem with them this past weekend.  They were super nice, even cracked a joke while I was there fumbling through my wallet for cash.

I love love love this place.  It's like I suddenly find myself in another state.  Who knew such a gem is hidden in such a random place.  I'm a big country music fan and I love coming here to listen to the music and people watch.  I used to be in show choir so I loved the partner dancing.  I took some classes in swing and two step way back in the days but yeah...this place is something else.  The people here are super nice.  If you're really itching to dance, the seasoned pros would gladly twirl you around the dance floor.  Especially if you're a girl, the guys most likely wouldn't say no if you ask them to dance.

I hear they offer lessons earlier in the evening.  I'm definitely come back to learn.

Cowboys, Southern Belles's, Grandmas, grandpas, people of all sorts come to this place. It's a fun spot, if you're new to line dancing you can play it off by just following one of the many regulars. Get into the vibe and bring your boots and hat!
Parking can be quite a drag so be patient.

Atticus the classy inbred gentleman with the mullet is face they put to greet the guests. They keep the line full due "capacity". The owner needs to fire these mutts and send them back to the swamps where they come from.  Word of advice, if you dont have a mullet, prepare to wait in line.

Worst country bar ever! Wouldn't let my friend in with a ca ID because it wasn't a drivers license. The bouncers tried to act like cops (probably because they couldn't be so this was there last resort to have power) needless to say I will not be coming back or recommending this place. Toby kieth or sadal sore in norco is way better.

Came here for the first time to celebrate my Birthday. I went with a friend that "knows the ropes"... I had a blast! I agree that some people weren't friendly, but what bar doesn't have some of those people hanging around? Almost every person I encountered was willing to help me learn the steps or smile at my lack of expereince. I would come back!

I used to come dancing here often with big groups of friends, but hadn't been much in recent years. A few girl friends and I decided to come and kick up our boots again on Saturday night.

After a few line dances, we decided to grab some drinks. Granted, it was a very busy night. After waiting at the bar for over 20 minutes for a bartender to even ask what we wanted, he chewed me out for "wasting his time" by ordering 2 waters and a beer. I didn't even bother ordering the 4 shots that I came for in the first place. The arrogance of this bartender has turned me off to coming here and spending my money again.

I would have liked to have found a manager to complain to, but shortly after my incident happened, a poor gentleman fell on the dance floor with a heart attack and I decided my night wasn't ruined as badly as this guy's was. I tried to contact management a few days later via Facebook, but my comment was simply deleted rather than responded to. Really?

HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT AND BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

I will NEVER GO AGAIN!!! I went for my sisters bday n was super excited. However, once we hit the dance floor (mind u we were complete novices n stayed on the outer corner to stay out of way)we literally got pushed off the dance floor by some prick who said "if u don't know the dance f*** off!"

Place is fun. People are nice, and we had a good time. But the drinks are not cheap and if you don't know how to line dance don't expect to do much dancing because they only did a hand full of beginner dances. But was still fun and never a bad thing to be surrounded by cowboys!

Great spot for country partner dancing and line dancing. They especially play a lot of two-steps, in between line dancing. Sometimes the two step isn't the best choice of music for a two step, and is more of a shuffle, when they announce two-step, but they play enough through the night that I won't dock them.

Reviews mention rude front door men, but I have to say, if you arrive with proper identification, like we did, they are absolutely friendly and approachable... No bad attitude whatsoever. (Even the door man with the pony-tail... He seems like a nice guy -- just doing his job.) I noticed him as my husband and I were walking out, and told my husband that he was the one getting flack from a couple of reviewers ;)

This was our second time at this bar for dancing, and we really enjoyed ourselves. Dance floor didn't get too crowded, and we easily dancing until 11:45 pm -- then they seemed to play more freestyle dancing, and we left.

Drink prices for a sea breeze (they really made a bay breeze, but oh we'll ;) ... Only $5 per drink... Very reasonable!

Montana's is mixture of those who come to dance a combination of 2-Step & Line Dances or tthose who drink and sit, or walk around. The place has one of the largest dance floors in Southern California, second to the Temecula Stampede. The place has a lot of long time regulars. So if your a women who wants to dance, you'll get lost in the crowd if your not sitting or standing near the main dance floor entrance.

The people are friendly and very approachable. The Dance Floor because of its large size has plenty of room even when it's full.

The only issue I have is the music selection for 2-step. 2-step music is either, slow and weak, medium and moving, or fast and brisk. Most good dance clubs focus on medium, with some slow, and an occasional fast one. Unfortunately Montana's focuses on the slow and weak 2-step choices throughout the night.

Generally it's a nice place. A bit small and the bouncer is a freakin' jerk! I was waiting to go in behind some girls and one only had a state ID no license and she was turned away... she asked if she could walk in to say happy birthday to her friend real quick and the bouncer said "get out of here you f**king mexican!" It was sooooo sad. Although there is a sign, the bouncer went over the top. I'll probably stay away from Montana's definitely not one of my faves. He could've respectfully asked her to leave or just simply said no.

It's been a LONG time since I've been country dancing, but my friend and I have been talking about it for a while and we finally decided to go. Long ago, Montana's was her favorite place to dance, so we skipped the places closer to our respective houses and headed there last Friday. We were surprised that there weren't many people there, and that the cover was $10 (but, like I said, it's been a while - I'm sure prices have gone up). The crowd was good - sort of mixed ages and dancing abilities and fairly friendly. The staff at Montana's, however, was not friendly-especially given that they were not at all crowded.
But none of those things were why we were there or what we cared about. We were there to dance! My friend likes to do any dancing. I am particularly bad at line dances, but love partner dancing, especially two stepping. She seemed happy with the line dances, and was motivated enough to make me try to learn a new one or two. The two stepping, however, was another story. A couple of times, the DJ would introduce the two step set by saying, "now we're gonna slow it down for a two step." Huh? Did I miss something? I learned to dance in Northern California, and two stepping was generally done to fun, upbeat songs, and when I would visit down here, they were done at manic speed. At Montana's last Friday, they were done to slow songs that often were clearly not two step beats. Sometimes the songs were better suited to waltzes or other dances. Even the incredible dancers looked awkward, and hardly anyone seemed to be moving comfortably to the music. It was by far the worst music for two stepping that I have ever experienced. And, for anyone who likes swing dancing or waltzing, there was one song designated for swing dancing and no waltzes the whole time we were there. I was surprised to see that they were still doing the Cowboy Cha Cha, though.
Montana's definitely wasn't worth the drive for us. We won't be going back any time soon.

Bonus points for the saddle disco ball!

I'm a fan of themed anything and activities that require special accessories, so I'm pretty much down for any country western dance hall.  While Montana's is DJ only (no live music), they have a huge dance floor and lots of space for consortin' with the public.

The main reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is the lack of available dance partners.  The floor gets packed for 2-step early in the night, but good luck getting one of the men to ask you for a turn.  I think all the guys that know how to partner dance come here with a date.  The 3 times I've gone, I've tried sitting at a little table, lingering by the entrance of the floor like an idiot, and sitting in one of those chairs almost directly on the floor.  The result is maybe 2-3 dance requests all night if I'm lucky, sad.  It's great for line dancing, though.

So, not my favorite place for boot scootin', but ok if you're in the mood for just chilling out with friends and joining in the occasional line dance.

    LOOK UP!
If you think this place is hard to find, look up. It's upstairs!

    Good fun for a group!
We should've gone on Saturday for line dancing instead of Friday for couples...next time.
Although there were some younger adults there, this large venue was filled with maturing adults and some outright elderly. But that makes it less intimidating and they sure know how to dance!
I thought the staff was accommodating enough regardless of previous Yelpers' comments.
For a large group they reserved an area with couches for us!
Cover charge is a low $5 and they offer free dancing lessons.
What a fun option for a night out!

    AH, what a night.

My friend's birthday was coming up and she's really into country music and I'm always down for a good rootin tootin ho down.  A co-worker who lives in San Dimas recommended Montana's, so on a Saturday night I put on some black boots, a denim button up, and some black jeans.  I figured I might as well dress the part.  We got there around 7:30 because the birthday girl wanted to partake in the line dancing lessons.  We got to the parking lot and I knew I was at the right place because there were guys with cowboy hats all walking up the stairs.

There was a 5 dollar cover since we were there before 9 and the bouncers were quite pleasant which was different from what I read on other reviews.  When we walked in I felt like I wasn't in Cali anymore.  There was a different feel to the place but I liked it.  We grabbed a table and I'm glad because when it got closer to 9 the place was packed, barely any walking room.  There was country music all night long and they encourage you to dance but beware because everyone dancing on the dance floors were pros.  Everyone danced as if it was choreographed so if you don't know the steps wait for the cupid shuffle and electric slide which they play a couple of times throughout the night.  I'm not a great dancer and at times I barely have rhythm but if you dance towards the back there will be older gentlemen who will take pity on you and try to help you out.  I definitely appreciated the gentlemen who talked me through the cupid shuffle.  Sad, I know but I didn't really go to dances in my youth to experience the cupid shuffle and electric slide.

All in all it was a great night and experience.  The dress code is pretty casual so girls if you're not a heels and short dress kind of a girl or if you want a comfy night of dancing than this place is a plus for you.  The restroom is kind of old but clean and there's even a bathroom attendant there to sell you fans and other feminine needs.  Drinks are awesomely priced because after about 8 drinks my bill came out to 24 bucks.  I even looked twice at the receipt and asked our server if she calculated the bill right and she said she did so I wasn't going to question it anymore.  This place is also loaded with some hotties.  If you don't go to dance or drink than definitely go for some eye candy.  I will definitely be back for some more drinks and "dancing."

I had to write this after reading the reviews bagging on the bouncers up front.  I and anyone I've been with has had nothing but good interactions with them--even the guy with the Steve Segal style pony tail.   My guess is if you've been given a hard time it's because you were acting like an ass and deserved to be hassled.

This isn't a pick up joint.  It's a dance club and most of the people are there for the dancing.  No big screens for games, and one pool table.  If dancing or drinking and watching dancing isn't you thing, maybe you should consider going somewhere else.

Otherwise, Montana's is a fun place to go.  I really don't care to listen to western music, in fact I always joke that listening to C&W gives me the hives.  I'm more of a rock and blues kinda guy.  That said, I do enjoy dancing to it and Montana's is a good place for it.

I literally grew up in and around country bars.  If you asked for a beer it was either Coors or Bud long neck.  Some had Hamm's or Oly, but you got funny looks if you ordered one.  Bud and Coors mess with my stomach big time, so I was happy and surprised to see that they also sell Fat Tire and a few other micro brew suds.  They also sell mixed drinks (I forgot how much 7&7's taste like cough syrup--ugh.)

I've never had problems with the bartenders being slow.   They could probably use a little more help with the wait staff at busy times but service isn't bad.  They've always been pleasant.

The one thing I wished the D.J. would do is play more of the songs that go with the dances they teach on Friday and Saturday nights.  What good is learning a dance if you can't practice what you've learned?

One more thing, for you women that were complaining about having to pay cover:  Welcome to the 21st century.  If I have to pay it you do too.  Only fair don't you think?

I love this place.  I come here all the time for lots of dancing and good drinks.  I've never had a problem with any of the staff and love coming here to dance.  Its a great ambiance! It seems to be becoming more and more crowded so getting there early to find a table is recommended!  I've celebrated birthdays here as well and they let you bring outside food and decorations just no outside drinks(obviously).  Love this place

In the seminal classic of 1991, Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man, starring Mickey Rourke and Don Johnson, Harley Davidson said, "I'd rather be dead and cool than alive and uncool".

This place is pretty uncool despite it standing the test of time and being jammed ... constantly.  I mean the lines for drinks are long.  The drinks are expensive given the location.  It's always jammed with country posers and young kids from the IE.  It doesn't have the ring of authenticity and coolness, and it seems to be trying too hard.  Don't get me wrong ... I have had some wild nights there, but it's not honky tonk in the truest sense of the word.  The cowboy:poser ratio is like 1:a trillion.

When I put on my boots, and don my cowboy hat, I want Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man, not Bill and Ted.

Laced up 'em boots on a Saturday night, arrived here before 9pm. There was a $5 cover charge. Other yelpers say it's $10 after 9pm.

Who can resist dancing under the saddle shaped disco ball or should I say, saddle ball? :)

The place reminds me of a Claim Jumpers, but with a dance floor.

They played a lot of songs for partnered dances. My friends didn't like the waiting time. I guess the male to female ratio was a bit off. That or there weren't enough cowboys who knew how to partner dance, what a shame.
Use this time for good conversation.

Keep coming back after a few times and you'll get the dances down. I find that it's best to learn from the older folks who filter out around 10pm when it gets crowded.

I love the old fashioned environment, feels classier than a club. Everyone can have a good time. You don't even need to know how to dance. A lot of the steps are repetitive. It's okay if you get lost amongst the crowd. Most likely, a few other people are lost, too.

Wear boots! For those stomping moves. You hear me?! :)

Not a bad joint. Most of it has been covered here.

Parking is a bit tight, but you should be able to find SOMETHING in that huge lot.

The well described bouncer was there, but we had no problems getting in. Then again, we didn't try and haggle with him either, just paid and went in.

Drinks were priced about average. The $10 cover after 9pm is a bit of a bitch, but whatever. It's something different, and I'm willing to pay the premium the one night every couple of months we want to hit the line dancing bar.

I don't line dance, so I can't say I loved it for the dancing. Good people watching though, with the diverse age groups in the various enclaves around the dance floor.

The place is huge and packed early. Starts thinning out at about 11pm, the older crowd peels off and there plenty of places to sit after that.

Two huge smoking patios if that's your thing.

Probably not the 4 full stars I'm giving it, but it gets the extra one for being something different in Los Angeles County.

Throw on the boots and the checkered shirt and give it a try some night. Go in with good spirits and a few like minded friends, and you'll have a blast.

I would give the place 3 stars, if it wasn't for the ignorant bouncer at the entrance. You can't miss the imbasol with his 3X denim button up, his Steven segul pony tale, & his dirty cowboy hat. I came here with 6 friends to meet our OTHER friends ( who were inside) for a birthday celebration. My best friend had a State CA Identification, BRAND NEW, and he said it wasn't valid form of identification. So YES people! If you don't drive, you WILL NOT get in!!! I have come here about 10 times before, and usually spend $100 between my husband and I. I will never come to this place again. If your not white, and your not a regular, plan to get treated with no respect. Treat your customers nicely because they are the reason you are in business in the first place. I will definately spread the word about the bad service here, and will be calling the better business bureau!

AND another time I came here, I left for 5 minutes to get my sweater from the car, and the douche bouncer said I'd be able to walk back in. He ended up making me wait in line after 20 people for 40 minutes. Enough said. The guy can suck a big fat one.

When you climb the stairs to the entrance sitting on a bar stool will be a heavily overweight man (usually stuffing his face with food) in a cowboy hat.

It's the first bar I've been to that rejects entrance to women.  On top of that they also make everyone, both male and female pay a $10 cover after 9pm.  I came with five ladies and myself and obese bouncer man did not allow one of my friends in because of her sandals and her friend in because she had a Washington state ID.  Be sure to bring 2 forms of ID because state issued ID's are not a valid form of ID at this joint.  This becomes even more obvious once you step foot inside and realize it has a 10 guy to 1 girl ratio.  And guys you must be at least 6'5" to fit in.

As a resident of San Dimas it is sad to say this is one of the only 'clubs' in the San Dimas / Glendora area.  Hopefully an owner that knows what they're doing takes over this place and straightens it out until then don't waste your time going.

I LOVE Montana's. Best Country bar within a half hour radius of Rancho Cucamonga. Lets see if that changes once Toby Keith Bar hits Victoria Gardens. Montana's is only open Fridays & Saturdays. If you go Friday, expect an older crowd. (i'm talking senior citizens) and it's not as crowded, but more laid back, &calmer. Friday is better for dancing since its not packed. Saturdays is more crowded and has a younger crowd. Can be too crowded to get on the dancefloor.
I've never seen 1 fight here. It's clean, safe, fun & local. If your looking for something younger, trashier, and rowdier- go to Branding Iron in San Bernardino.

I went to Montana's with three of my girlfriends for a GNO last Saturday. It was the first time for three of us, and a regular for the fourth girl.

I felt a bit intimidated as we drove up to the place. We could see guys in cowboy boots and hats, and the girls dressed in shorts, tank tops and cowboy boots. Three of us showed up in jeans, tank tops and wedge shoes! Remember, this was the first time for three of us, and I don't own cowboy boots.

After we paid $9 for cover, we went inside and the space is huge. I wasn't bumping into people to order at the bar or head to the dance floor. The dance floor is big, many tables to just hang out at, and one big bar.

There was line dancing (electric slides, etc. where you don't need a partner) and two steppin (with partners). I had fun and went out to the dance floor with our one girlfriend (who is a regular) a couple times to line dance (after my 2 bottles of liquid courage...BUD LIGHT)! They even had free style dancing (non country music/dancing) and played Rhianna and some hip hop.

Not everyone was in boots and cowboy hats. Some guy was two steppin in jeans, black flip flops, bb cap and t-shirt...and he was GOOD!

No pressure to dance. You could just sit, drink and enjoy the scene. A lot of people were learning to dance for the first time, also.

I'll definitely go back, and next time leave my 4+" wedges at home!

    $10 COVER

A country club, NO... A REAL COUNTRY (music and all) cowboy music, country dancing, synced country dancing, a lot of white people. I am not white.

I walk in, boy am I surprised and felt a bit out of place. I'm 6'2" and most of the dudes here were at my eye level . SO.. ladies if you are looking for tall white men come here.

Most people were drinking bud lights, Cowboy hats included. I normally get a Corona. NOPE, not this time. I got a bud light. :-/

I would come here in a group but not by oneself. ( at least me, or i just need to get used to it. I'm am more comfortable in a setting were elasticities are more mixed.

Women here are good quality. Pretty and lean.

It s a  country club so most of it is country music. But around 12:30 they switch to normal top forty. WOW, everyone rushed the dance floor.

Come here earlier around 7pm for dancing classes.

Cover charge is $10 (I've gone around 9-10pm), which is lame, because it's not fancy-schmancy to have a cover charge. This isn't LA.  Good thing I don't drink.

Parking isn't too bad (big parking lot).

I do love dancing the "electric slide" and any line dancing. Occasionally, they would play current hits (and that's when you see people grinding on each other. Ahh, memories of high school dances.)

Country clubs are fun. Can't stop stressing how much I love doing the "electric slide."

If I lived closer, I would go here at least once a month. Also, a great place to do people watching. You'll see old people and young people mingling together.

Black club dress, dimly lit rooms, packed like a sardine on the dance floor... Well, you get the picture. This pretty much summed up my past dance outings. Well, last night I tried something new. A friend suggested that we go to Halloween night at Montanas. Hmmmm, I like some country songs, but a country bar? Feeling a little nervous, I thought why not?

What a blast! We all wore costumes, which solved the "you can't wear a black club dress to this place" dilemma. The atmosphere was super friendly, the drinks were strong, and the music was...well...country. With a few Midori Collins under my belt, I felt more than confident to attempt the electric slide. Yeah, I flubbed some of the steps, but I didn't care...I was still out there dancing! From a comfort zone point of view, my favorite was the free style, where they played the non-country music and you could dance any way you want.

So would I go back again? You bet! But first, I need to get me a pair of cute cowboy boots, and then make sure to show up early to take advantage of the free dance lessons. Yeeee Haawww!

Never in my life did I think I would go to a country club! haha! but I did, and it was totally fun! I'm not particularly fond of country music and I do not own any western attire, but that didn't stop me from giving Montana's a chance. I thought it would be a horribly awkward experience, but I was wrong.

I thought I would be completely out of place and stick out horribly, but there was all sorts of people there, not only folks that are into country and professional line dancers, lol. They also did not only play country music, they played all sorts of music for people to line dance and two-step to.  Since I have no basic coordination I kind of sucked at line dancing, haha. I am Latina, so I only know how to dance by shaking my ass and making on sense, not this line dancing or two-step business, lol.

Drinks were reasonably priced, and all of the bartenders and cocktail waitresses were very nice and friendly. Great atmosphere and cheap drinks definitely would make Montana's worth coming back to. Next time I'll even wear my pink sequin cowboy hat and learn how to two-step, lol!

My country days were over long ago.

    Or so I thought.

And long ago was last year.

Montana's reminded me of exactly why I used to be a country music fan.

The ambiance of a "cowboy club" as opposed to a "non-cowboy club... y'know what I mean?" is far beyond the night and day comparison.

Although it's a nightclub, it's more of a chill-with-a-drink-and-people-watch-or-join-the-dances type of a place.  No pressure for anything or from anything.

And the gentlemen.  They are TRUE gentlemen!  Cowboy hats fill the place to the rim, with mysterious eyes peeking from below.. asking you to dance..  or just asking your name, shaking your hand, and just being NORMAL.  No cheesy lines, no bump and grind grossness, no pretentious and judgemental-ness.  And thank heavens for [almost] no skanky-hos and metros.  This is the place where you can take the boy (or girl) home to meet ma and pa.   Hm, I guess I'm sort of a hypocrite for being judgmental just now.  It's for your own good.

Although I don't know how to line dance or two-step to save my life, I didn't feel afraid to go out there and try.  And it wasn't pretty.  I still got asked to dance after that, so either the cowboys have had a lot to drink, they made a bet with the buddies, felt sorry, or I became part of an experiment unbeknownst to me.  Or (D), all of the above.

Drinks are cheap.  I think my beer was $3.50.  Cover charge kind of sucks, but I guess the beer is cheap for a reason.  $5 before 9pm, $10 after.

Large dance floor (takes up the entire front half of the place), and then tables/chairs line the second half, with a couple of steps/stairs creating this division.

The music is fun!  Clean, funny, and a whole lotta of yeeeeehawwww.

P.S. It's right above/up the stairs from Boot Barn (how cute).

Montana's takes me back to my roots, and gives me a good excuse to bust out my cowgirl boots (not that I really need one). I've tried the other 3-4 country bars / dance floors in the greater LA area, and Montana's is, by far, the most fun. Good crowd (which gets younger as the night progresses), free dance lessons, cheap drinks, hilarious people watching, and a DJ who does you the favor of calling out the dances before a song starts.

I come for the line dancing (which is pretty amazing) and I occasionally join in for a two-step or barn dance. The songs rotate between blocks of couples dancing and line dancing, and later in the night, the DJ even throws some booty shakin' music into the mix. Who doesn't love to watch a bunch of cowgirls shake it to Lady Gaga?

    Yeehaw.

Wow... I really never knew this kinda place existed in the San Gabriel Valley area.. I thought this kinda place only existed in the south lol... So I decided to go to Montana's because my coworker convinced me that it was an awesome place to hang out, listen to country and line dance. I normally would never go to, but I  had to see it to believe it.

Montana's is situated in a Country-like shopping center with shops selling cowboy hats, boots, and posters of Rodeo shows coming to the city. As I walked in with my Asian friends, we are greeted to a bouncer that looked like a mean old cowboy shown in movies,; normally played the role of a bad guy. As we entered the building you are bombarded with middle to old-aged white males dressed in denim jeans,  large belt buckle and a cowboy hat. At first I felt really uncomfortable because I felt really out of place, especially being Asian in a place full of cowboys.

There is a large dance floor with people doing various dances (line dancing, couple dancing) with country music blasting in  the background. There are tons of tables with people getting drunk, a pool table and an outdoor patio.

We decided to just go on the dance floor to have fun and actually it was extremely fun. People were friendly and were teaching us the moves. All you need to do is follow the person in front or side of you and you will get the rhythm and the steps in no time. The interesting part is that they have hip hop and 80s music line dancing as well. After 11 they played some hip hop for the younger crowd. This is actually much better than an aerobics class, and also its a great work out.

If want to go back in time and visit how the West was in the 1800s, just go to Montanas because I guarantee you will have an interesting experience.  Overall its a great place to hang out.

This place is like another planet to me, i had no idea anything like it existed. i consider myself to be pretty knowledgeable in all things southern, even though i am a so cal girl born & raised but this place just blew me away.
Montana's has a great mix of ages, lots of people who dance and lots of people who don't. they have free classes for people who want to learn, and if you come for the class you can stay for the dancing & drinking with no cover. i keep saying I'm going to try one of the line dancing classes one of these days... ;-)
the drinks are cheap, and it's a great place to people watch even if you aren't into the country scene. parking can be kind of a pain if you don't get there early (before 7PM, yuck) because they share the lot with a cantina. oh and lots of stairs too so remember that when you're ordering you 5th shot!

I must admit that when I first entered, I was a bit shocked as I'd truly thought this sort of stuff had died out in the Industrial Revolution. All jokes aside, though, Montana's turned out to be a really fun place to unwind on a Friday evening.

I'd never paid an entrance fee to get into a bar or club, so the $10 at the door was a bit odd for me, but I quickly forgot about it as I took good advantage of the cheap beers for a few hours. Everyone here seemed very relaxed and genuine, and as I really do enjoy Western culture, I thought it was kinda need to see people line dancing and a disco "ball" in the shape of a saddle.

As for the ambiance, it seemed as though everyone was having a good time and there were no creeps just lingering around. Also, there was a towel man in the restroom! I was so shocked. But I must admit, the music was really loud to the point where I could feel a pre-hangover headache setting in with my first drink.

I wouldn't mind going back because it was really fun immersing myself in the culture, but at the same time I'd like to check out other nightlife venues in the area.

First country bar/line dancing experience occurred here...

Located in the middle of nowhere in a shopping mall complex, $10 cover charge... $5 if early, decor is great! that southern cowboy feelin' to it for sure, large dancefloor where most actually know all the dance steps (apparently there's like a gazillion different dance steps you would need to learn), plenty of room to sit and mingle... huge smoking patio, crowd is VERY MIXED... young and the old:good-looking and the ugly's: though my friend and I were the only few asians - mostly all white.

Anyhoo, I would definitely go again, but not before learning at LEAST 25 beginner dance steps YEEE-HAWW~!!!

Made the trek here to the 909 for my friends mom bachelorette's party. Please look at "Montana's" pictures for details.

The evening started with a woman in our party, terrorizing patrons with her motorized scooter that had a large inflatable penis attached. And ended with me vomiting in the parking lot, while my mom held my hair back.

Somewhere in between, I was groped inappropriately, my friend learned some "dance moves" and  had someone else hold on to her engagement ring, and we snuck in about 2 dozen "shot pouch" drinks....Yes, they sell those in these parts. Best night ever.
