Cool owners... nice couple of people.  Very interesting food.  The smoked trout is definitely worth a try.  Very good diverse selection.  Nice albeit reserved staff.  Intimate setting.  Highly recommended for a quiet evening!

hostess seemed a liitle rude, not welcoming when we arrived. Server knew her wines, great server, sausage flatbread apetizer was good, prosciutto pork tenderloin slightly over cooked-dry- but not bad,  duck marsala was good, outside deck with great view, pricing good for quality and quantity. I would recommend this place.  Inside can be noisy.

We're so glad we yelped this place! We just had a wonderful dinner, with a charming atmosphere and excellent service! I agree with the other reviews that recommend the braised beef. It was delicious! As we were leaving we saw the flatbread someone had ordered. We can't wait to go back and try that!

This tasty find offered a lively, yet enjoyable place to dine. The large windows provided a fabulous view and plenty of light, giving the dining area an open feel. Our waiter was Robbie, a well-informed and polished server who actually knew how to open and decanter wine. Having our wine served in appropriate glasses was yet another treat.

We started out with an appetizer that could have served as a meal: Steve's Cheese; a tasty blend of panko-crusted herbed-goat cheese, thinly sliced prosciutto, tomatoes and arugula served over crispy baguette slices and Tim's chips. It was fabulous with a glass of Pinot Grigio.

After we shared a spinach salad, I ordered the Marsala Duck, while Gregg ordered the Filet Mignon. Both entrées were impressive. With that, we enjoyed a Cabernet Franc. Needless to say, we hadn't any room for desert.

I see people saying how wonderful the food is here and it makes me want to try again BUT I won't. My boyfriend and I went for lunch one day. They used to have a wine store in the complex and we always went for wine tastings on Fridays. They closed it down and opened Morso so I figured we would give it a try.

I was very happy when they said that we could taste the wines. I ordered soup and my boyfriend ordered a sandwich. We tasted a few different wines and then settled on one we liked and had two glasses each. They neglected to tell us that we would be charged for every wine we tasted and by the time we got our check it was $75!

It does have a wonderful view and I think it might be a nice romantic date night destination, but my experience there just left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

First of all, an absolutely amazing view!  You're elevated and looking right down the harbor toward Mt. Rainier (when visible).  During the warmer months there are several outside tables that offer an even better view.  The restaurant is very well-designed with a comfortable bar (albeit small) where you can also eat.   Tip:  Be sure to call ahead to determine handicap access.  Parking is in the rear and there are about 16 steps down (hence back up again) to the restaruant entrance.

The food:  Ahhhhh, I had the braised beef.  It was cut-it-with-a-fork delicious with carrots, string beans, and just the right helping of mashed potatoes.  My husband had duck, which he loved (felt it was perfectly cooked).  The rice - not so much (ask for potatoes instead).  It's kind of a cool menu, in that you can order smaller plates and loads of appetizers that sound wonderful  (check out their menu on-line)

The reason for 4 stars - not 5 is:  It is a wine bar - not a full bar; that said, their wine list is a little weak.  In addition, their service and how you're greeted and treated is more of a 2 star experience.  Their food deserves better.

I live in Gig Harbor, WAS a frequent customer at Morso's. I love wine, and I think their food is fantastic. I just really can't get past the rude hostess/waitress (may be even the owner? She's always there.). One time we walked in, it wasn't busy and we didn't see the sign to wait to be seated and no one was at the front. My husband asked me where I wanted to seat, she overheard from wherever she had appeared from and very rudely responded to us "you will sit where I seat you." It took me a couple months to come back after that, and tried again last night. I cringed when I walked in and saw that she was working and sure enough, she was unacceptably rude to us, turning us away saying there was nothing available. Which is understandable for a Friday night, it's just the rude way in which she said it. Didn't tell us how long the wait was (we were definitely willing to wait), or apologize. She actually shoo'd us out the door. There aren't too many restaurants in Gig Harbor, so I am extremely disappointed that the service here was so offensive. We will not be trying Morso's again.

I would highly recommend JW over Morso's. It's slightly more expensive but worth paying extra for better food, better wine and above all else, MUCH better service.

Went here on a Friday night and was a little worried because of some bad reviews. I was pleasantly surprised, it was good! We sat on the patio, service was excellent, food & wine were delish. The prices of the wine were what I would expect from a wine bar... I had the butternut squash ravioli and it was great. Went with a friend and can't wait to take my husband here. It was not crowded at all, although we were here for a very late dinner on a Friday night.

A wonderful dining experience with mouth watering food, fabulous wine, and a romantic view.  After some white truffle popcorn (which is not only a good deal, but induces cravings for more), we had the braised beef which was fork-tender and covered in a demi-glace that I wanted to lick off the plate.  The accompanying potoatoes were fluffy and well prepared.  A bottle of Dry Creek red (great recommendation confirmed with a sample taste from the enomatic) and dessert that was gluten free with chocolate and almonds!

Yes, eating gluten free was not a problem here.

Service was spectacular.  Attentive and friendly.

4 instead of 5 stars because I would have liked slightly larger main course portions and the salads were lackluster (ceasar and green salad).

    I will be back!

We love going to Morso's for the ambiance. The place has a cool, laid back feel and typically has a great mix of poeple inside. On a nice day, the deck is wonderful. We have experienced slow service before, so just be prepared when you go there to take your time.

4 stars for the ambiance.  It's a nice place with a decent view of the water and a good location.  It is set up nicely inside, and is bigger than it initially seemed.

2 stars for the wine.  It's an interesting list that seemed to want to cater to an upper crust crowd, but they did it by pricing the wine higher than usual instead of selling expensive wine.  I have seen the same bottles for much cheaper at other wine bars.

NEGATIVE 4 stars for the service.  I told the waitress I wanted something bold and robust, and she flipped my menu over from red to white and recommended a chardonnay.  When I refocused her on the cab section, she said it was a new menu and she didn't know anything about the cabs, which is strange because they had some pretty standard stuff on there.  I recognize that not everyone has an in depth knowledge of all of their wines, but knowing the difference between red and white would probably be important in that job.

We sat outside on a sunny day, and after she brought us our wine, she literally never came back.  We drank through a whole bottle of wine over the next 90 minutes and she never once came out to check on us.  When it was time to go, I had to go inside to find her and ask for the check.  She told me she was too busy to bring it back to me, so I would have to wait inside while she printed it out.  She handed me the receipt and wandered off while I was getting out my credit card.  I ran her down a second time, gave her my card, and promised myself that I would never come back.

There are plenty of nice wine bars serving overpriced bottles with mediocre service, but this one took it to a whole new level.  Outside of the actual facility, this place has virtually nothing to offer.

    Pros:
    1. White truffle oil popcorn ($2 a bowl) amazingly YUM!
    2. Chicken and dumplings; wowzers!
    3. One of the most gorgeous views in the Harbor.
    4. Jaw-dropping wine selection.
    5. Perfect seafood salad.
    6. Romantic, intimate enviroment.
    7. Staff is friendly and warm.

    Cons:
    1. Dessert menu could use a nudge...perhaps some smaller bites to accompany their vast wine selection?  I'm thinking salted caramels, dark chocolate, etc.

This place is really nice if you are looking for a relaxing evening with a glass of wine few small plates of food to go with it.  WInes range from $8- 15 per glass on average...   over all they have a good selection to choose from. They also serve beer.

Their food is very good too. Their steamed clams are fantastic, and so is their pork tenderloin. Their baked brie and anti-pasto plates are perfect to share.  My favorite is the truffle oil popcorn!  OMG! I know it sounds crazy, but I could eat that all day long!

On a side note, I have seen many other reviews complain about the price of things at this place.  It is true, the food is a little pricy for how small the plates are, but if you're looking for tons of food for cheap then this place isn't for you.

It's perfect for a lazy summer afternoon. Sit out on their balcony and watch the boats...  In the winter time cozy up in side and enjoy the ambiance.

I am a ex resident of downtown Seattle and maybe I am spoiled by wine bars that actually have competition. Inspiring them to strive for great service and a quality list of wines that anyone could enjoy. I am new to this area and like most places I have tried in gig Harbor..this one is just plain awful. The wine list is meh at best. One page of wines...Most restaurants have a better selection. My friend and I being fans of Italian wines were excited to go here and enjoy some good wine near home. I ordered an $11 glass Barbera that was either corked or had sat way too long. I sent it back and 15 minutes later when I finally had the new glass...it was from the same bottle. Even the server pinched up her nose when she smelled it offering more apologies. Finally I said forget it and tried the $12 chianti rufina and it was very disappointing. My friends Pinot Grigio... the ONE Italian white wine on the menu...was also very uninspiring. When all was said and done...with tip I walked away out 60 bucks for a cheese plate and 3 glasses of wine. The cheese plate was good but I suggest as soon as they sit it down ask for extra crackers as they give you about 5  with the 20+ pc's of cheese. I have NO PROBLEM paying 10-12 a glass for good wines and service. This place had neither. It's just sad that gig Harbor is such an awesome area and has SO FEW actual GOOD places to eat or drink.

All in all it was over priced, bad service with a sad wine list and GREAT ambiance. So if you up for paying way too much for some sub par wines and being forgotten about several different times by your server...in a place that LOOKS AWESOME. This is your Wine Bar.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! We went on sunday and had a wine flight and appetizers, food was great, wine was excellent and the view of the harbor was amazing.  Our server ( I wish I could remember her name) was really good, very knowlegable about the wine. It was very relaxing and we certainly will be back soon!!

For Gig Harbor, a place that should have better food but doesn't, this is a solid choice.  Sitting here on a Thursday night, the place was full in their outdoor seating area.  The menu has a fair selection of "bites", twice the size of normal appetizer selections.  We like this and have ordered nearly everything in this section (although we have never ordered the famed popcorn).  Try the cheese plate, it really is good and changes.  Wine list is long and full, staff is knowledgeable.  Salads and dinners are solid northwest fare selections such as halibut and braised beef.  Desserts are strong too.

If the concept of a "wine bar" makes you feel fancy, if you don't know or care about quality, and if you believe spending a lot of money is a requisite part of the a high-brow experience you'll love Morso. If good food and good wine also needs to be part of the equation, you're shit out of luck.

The wine selection here is no great shakes. Nothing wrong with it, but don't expect unicorns and rainbows to pop out of the glass. You won't be discovering a new favorite.

The food is flat out garbage.

The whole package is expensive to a fault. The second star is for the view. For the same money, I can go to JWs and have great food and higher quality/higher value wine. And if I want to overpay for vile vittles + a view, I've got the Tides, which sucks a bit harder, but costs a lot less.

I've been there twice and can't really imagine returning.

It pains me to give this review, it really does, especially since I was SO looking forward to my first visit to Morso...  I had high hopes when the appetizers came out, they were meager but they were yummy. (Steve's Cheese and the Trout app's)   2 HOURS later we got our meal.  Terrible.  Small portions of overcooked, burned pasta ( I took pictures, there's no denying it), overcooked dry prawns, overcooked dry halibut, bland rice and bland Braised Beef.  I'm not shy about telling someone when I'm unhappy with my $20 meal, and while the waiter apologized, he did nothing to correct or compensate the below par meal.  The bill was staggering for an incredibly disappointing evening.  I'm also mortified that I talked this place up and it was my idea to go... embarrassing!

Small plates? Not really. The prices are fair, given the portions and the presentation. This is a warm welcoming restaurant with a very sophisticated wine menu that allows delivery by the glass. One can taste a glass of a wine -that one might not afford by the bottle.
We were there this summer and plan to visit again when we return.

Tasty but absurdly overpriced. Four of us stopped in for a light dinner on a Saturday. We had two seafood salads, a cesar salad and a chicken salad plus one appetizer and one iced tea. The bill came to nearly $70 plus tip and it was "light" indeed. The food tasted fine but the servings were skimpy. Too bad, as Gig Harbor needs another decent restaurant. I shudder to think what the bill would have come to if we had eaten anything but salads! At least the service was prompt and friendly....

My husband and I had our very first visit to this fine dining establishment, last Friday evening, after having passed by it everyday coming back from some establishment or other for over a year on our way home and saying to each other, why don't we ever eat there? So, we finally did and we will again. First of all let me say, straight up, I am a gourmet cook, fairly hard to please with a radar for quality and an opinion I dont mind sharing. Imagine my thrill to have nothing bad to say about this restaurant. All I could do was say, this is excellent, and great and superlatives that you wont usually find rolling off the tip of my tongue, but its true! The decor is great, the food is wonderful, inventive and priced with the customers in mind, the staff is more than apt, they are thoughtful, suggestive, and well informed about the offerings, both food and beverages. I ordered a portobello mushroom and cheese flatbread, my husband had the Barolo Beef plate. We ordered the 07 Amavi Cab Sav and we were not disappointed in anything. Our server, named Charity but willing to be called susi by other insistant guests was fun, helpful and always nearby anticipating our every need. The nice thing about Morso, rarely found in any other fine dining places in this town is the friendly homey atmosphere and the  "seen and be seen" casual bistro feel, it exudes warm hospitality and frankly feels more comfortable than eating any place else. It's recognizing friends and neighbors, and the affible Steve who owns the place that really made our stay a nice welcoming one and one of the many reasons, which are more than enough to return. Its these things that must be why their outdoor dining deck bursts at the seams whenever the sun pops out for a peek or hides behind a bank of clouds, veiling that gorgeous view of the mountain top of Rainier, and the harbor. Sitting at the head of the harbor, this is best place yet to see and be seen, and if it is raining, well then that cozy intimate setting indoors will certainly keep you from getting all wet.

One of my favorite places in gig harbor. The service is always warm and friendly, the recommendations are spot on, and the atmosphere is both relaxing and romantic. I can't wait to go back. The apple pie was a wonderful treat, and the flatbread pizzas are just right.

While I am a big fan, it's not quite getting 5 stars. A few of the small dishes suffer from not being properly spiced. (Since I've moved to Washington, I've noted that most places seem so suffer from a rash of "bland".) But they are top on my list for just a glass of wine or a night out.

Morso may mean "small plates" to Italians, but to me it means gourmand heaven.

Charity was our server; she was friendly and knowledgable, and offered great wine suggestions. The wine list is extensive and covers most of the globe. There is beer, bubbly, sake and wine cocktails too. The Enomatics make it possible to try a glass of very high end wine for a fraction of the cost of a bottle; it's a good value.

I was enamored with Amavi Cellars 2007 Cab Sauv: it was fruity and fun. The Juan Benegas Malbec was also a hit, as was the Four Vines Zin. The sparkling vouvray was amazing (in the bigger glass!), and the Dom Serene 2004 Cote Sud Chardonnay was one of the nicest Chardonnays I'd ever tasted.  We finished with the Tawny port, which was all fig and caramel smoothness.

Now for the delicious food!  Between four of us we had the mushrooms with polenta, capaccola flatbread, proscuitto flatbread (ask how they get cloudberries!), pork tenderloin, lamb meatballs, and olives.  Everything was divine; there was no crumb left behind.  Both the chocolate torte and the polenta cake made delicious accompaniments for the tawny port.  We had the smallest issue with one meatball, and the staff was apologetic and accommodating beyond any expectation, and without prompting. The owners were on hand as well, to greet people and answer vino inquiries.

The service, the view, the food, the wine.  Like I said... heaven.
