It's a bustling pub on a Saturday night. We were a party of 8 without a reservation so of course there was a wait. We were fine with that. We were happy to get relief from the bitter cold January weather. But Criminy, someone stoked the fire that night, it was hot as the blazes in there! The excess of patrons I am sure did not help temperature. It may have been just a weird night temperature wise in comparison to the arctic tundra outside.
Service was typical pub service. Our waitress was friendly. She was probably over sat with the number of tables she had. The food was mediocre. My wife and I split a bun-less burger with green beans.
The atmosphere is not necessarily typical of most Irish Pubs I have been too, that's not neither good nor bad. We had a jolly good time. If you are looking for a fun pub type atmosphere in Carmel I wouldn't hesitate to send you hear. I hear they have live music upon a occasion, that's supposed to be pretty killer!
Went out to dinner with my mother, girlfriend, and grandparents while my mother was visiting home. Â I've been here before, great tenderloin. Â Best in Carmel. Â I decided that this time I wanted to try something else. Â I saw that they had Shepard's Pie, a classic! Â Also something you don't see on every menu. Â I decided to give it a try. Â When it arrived I'll admit I was a bit disappointed at how small it was, but I do have a big appetite. Â Let me break down this Pie for you. Â The beef stock was bland as can be, but yes it did taste like beef stock. Â In my opinion, it should've been seasoned to be used like it was. Â I wasn't "wowed" at all by the vegetables. Â For all I know they were steamed in a bag in the microwave. Â They certainly didn't appear to be cut and blanched by hand. Â The mashed potatoes dry and completely unseasoned, I can't imagine they added any salt at all. Â The cheese was nicely melted on top..? Â It's the worst Shepard's Pie I've ever had.
Real quick, I'd like to add that in order to accommodate our party, the server pushed together two tables, one taller than the other. Â I ended up spilling my drink, which was quickly cleaned up by a busser. Â I know, it's my fault, but really?
As I mentioned before, I have eaten here before and been satisfied with what I got, but this time I left wanting much more. Â I did try my girlfriend's entree, she ordered the chicken pasta with a basil pesto cream sauce. Â It was very good, and very well seasoned.
For my personal experience this time around, I give them 2 stars.
