Mike M. Hit the nail on the head.
I have been going to MP&Co. for pver 15 years now. You don't need anything here but the wings. Best wings in the Capitol Region. Hot variety are very sweet and tangy with a perfect amount of heat. Garlic are very unique with even more tangyness and very crispy. Â Other than that, the steak fries are good and the wraps aren't bad. Although the burgers are nothing to write home about, you can't beat dollar burger night on Mondays sitting at the bar.
White trash atmosphere with lonely creeps occupying the bar (see Mike M. QuickDraw comment). Bartenders very unfriendly and treat you like a 5 year old if you are under the age of 30 and or are not wearing a camouflage NASCAR hat.
Still fun to go for a football game with friends but this place stands out as a great delivery place.
Again: ORDER THE WINGS
DeAnna and I stopped in for a quick bite one afternoon. We wanted to try someplace new, but didn't want to spend a lot. We passed it on the way through Delmar and decided to stop.
As you walk in the smell tells you exactly what you're going to get. It smelled like a backyard cookout. Hamburgers, hotdogs and beer.
And that's exactly what I ordered. Hamburger and a beer.
There was nothing earthshaking about the burger. It was just like a friend of mine makes in his back yard. Nearly overdone, just a bit of crispiness to the edges.
In reality, this is probably a two star place. However, it is exactly what it seems and it deserves some credit for filling that niche. The food was what I expected, and it was very reasonably priced. If I were to compare it to the other options to fill this need, it would be compared with a fast food burger place and My Place would win every time. The menu has a bunch of things that are outside of the burgers and dogs, but in my head that's what this place is now and I am OK with it being a best in class for that role.
This is a good, basic, no-frills kind of place. The service is efficient and the food is fast. Dollar burgers are great when you're at a bar. The wings are amazing and the salads are surprisingly good. This is a nice place to just go, relax and eat bar food. They do have healthy specials, but they don't look to appetizing.
Review Source:This review is really just about the wings and doesn't consider anything else. Â The wings are some of the best you can get around here. Â For me, they are 2nd only to bombers tequilla wings. Â The wings here are plump and juicy. Â The wing sauce has a number of different spices in it and has some sweetness as well. Â It is kind of like a hot sauce / bbq sauce hybrid. Â I order extra crispy hot. Â The blue cheese they serve is pretty good too - I would suspect its made in house.
Review Source:I've been going to and ordering from My Place for about 10 years because I really like their chicken wings ("laser wings" require a few extra clean napkins to wipe the sweat off your face).
Here's the thing...beyond the wings, their food is average at best - which, let's face it, is all we really expect from a little local bar/restaurant. Â So, to me, what makes restaurants like this stand out is the atmosphere and service.
Atmosphere: Upon entering, nearly all sets of drunken, desperate eyes will glance up to see that a non-redneck has entered, squint slightly, and focus back on the Quick Draw loto display and the Formula One auto race rerun viewing from a 1994 Zenith 20+ inch old school TV. Â Don't dare play anything non-70's/80's classic rock on the juke box - besides, you'll have to interupt the current dart game to get to the machine. Â The restaurant and bar area are separated by a half wall and the bar is shaped like a squared "U" with seats on the outside and the bartenders in the middle.
Service: Speaking of the bartenders, primarily three loyal, but miserable, barkeeps have been working there for 3-6 years. The older gentleman with white hair and the younger fellow are both semi-grumpy to distrustingly-friendly on a good night. The female bartender is the reason I stopped going to My Place except during Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday when my friends insist on going for the cheap beer. In all honesty, she is the most miserable, grinchy employee I've ever had serve me in the entire Capital Region. I'm amazed she is still there year after year always steaming out of her ears anytime the bar reaches 50% capacity. Â More customers generally equals more orders equals more tips. Maybe her flagrant misery lead people to saving their $1 tip, thus perpetuating the awkward service for the rest of us. (I'll admit, if she serves me, I'll generally only tip her once.) Anyway, at least the waitresses crack a smile to say hello and are usually perfectly adequate at performing their duties.
Overall: The prices are low, but order "to-go" or for delivery, and stick with the chicken wings.
My bf and I stopped at My Place this evening knowing nothing about it except that it was close and open. Â We were pleasantly suprised with the food. Â
We ordered the medium wings which turned out very good. Â The sauce is the right amount of spicey and sweet. Â I had the grilled chicken sandwich and my date had the bacon cheeseburger. Â Both were really good. Â Maybe not life changing good but much better than expected. Â Our bill for 2 iced teas, 10 wings, a burger, and a chicken sanwich and 2 orders of fries came to just under $25. Â This was a great deal! Â By the way, the fries are pretty good!
The atmopshere gives a feeling of a local place where regulars eat and mostly drink. Â It's not fancy but clean and welcoming in a homey way.
The service was good. Â We didn't have empty glasses and the food came out pretty quickly. Â
We would go back there again!
