It's all about the atmosphere... If you are anywhere near, you gotta check this out.
As pointed out in the other reviews, the proprietress is a friendly, laid-back lady with many stories to tell. Visiting the tavern is like wandering into somebody's front room-- comfy couches, a big dinner table in the middle (in front of the bar) and a friendly dog. No fancy beers, as noted, but cold drinks, snacks, and good folks.
Went with my boyfriend and we plan sometime soon to go back and say hi!
Shirley, the woman that runs this bar, is a kind soul. My car broke down about 4 miles down the road from this place, and we had a couple of hours to kill before the tow truck was scheduled to come. The guy that gave us a ride to this place told us not to order any "fancy beers", so we just had MGD. Shirley gave us chips, dip, cheese and salami while we waited. She even offered to "put us up for the night." Even though this place is only surrounded by windmills and about a half-dozen homes and old barns, I'd be happy to return to pay my respects to Shirley and the awesome locals that bought us beer. Thanks, guys!
