If you want excellent lobster tail, go to the nest.  Yes the cost is outrageous, but it is worth the price.  Had delicious meal and the service was great.

Being in town on business and trying to avoid the regular fast food fare, I decided to treat myself to a nice dinner out. Upon arrival at what I though should be the busiest dinner rush, I was surprised to see the place empty save for myself and one couple. That was my first clue. Entree's are overpriced and my dinner (Seafood Trio) consisted of 3 overcooked shrimp, 2 undercooked (and cold) scallops and 3 shreds of a lobster tail served over undercooked and under-seasoned rice pilaf. The pilaf was so starchy and crunchy that I couldn't eat it. My side (vegetables) were shredded so fine that I could no longer recognize what they were and cooked to death. The price of dinner was insulting. I can't recommend The Nest. Sorry...

Sadly it seems like this place is going down hill and I blame the management.  We've been going here for special occasions with a large group for years and always had a good experience.  But after this past visit, we will probably find somewhere else.

We had reservations for 13 at 6PM on a Saturday. Our group began arriving shortly before 6, but were told we had to wait until everyone was there until we could be seated. (The table was empty and set... so why did we have to wait? Never did before.) We all arrived by 6:10 and were seated.... looked over the menu... and ordered (drinks, appetizers, & meals all at the same time) around 6:30. Around this same time another large table was seated near us.  We got our appetizers, soups, bead, and salads relatively quickly. (Note: Ask for the cheesy garlic bread instead of the regular bread, because the regular bread was cold, not room temperature-cold, like had been in the freezer cold... and let me tell you it isn't easy to spread cold butter on cold bread.)  So... then we finish those items and we sit and wait and wait... around 7:50 we start wondering where our food is.  Then a little later we start to see meals delivered to the table next to us (remember, they were seated at least 15 minutes after us.) So we ask for the manager to see where our food is and why the table that arrived after us was getting served before us.  He was very rude, told us we weren't seated until after 6:30 and walks away in a huff. We finally got our meals around 8:10. Our waitress apologized and told us that the kitchen wasn't well staffed that night with only 2 guys cooking (2 cooks on a Saturday night with a full restaurant, most of which had to have had reservations??! Being busy that night surely wasn't a surprise to management. They should have staffed accordingly.)

We were offered free dessert for our long wait... which was nice, i guess. But by then people needed to get home to their sitters, and we had a 1 yr old with us who was up way past her bed time. We didn't get out of there till 9.

The food is pretty good... but pricey... so be prepared to pay $25+ per person. I've never had anything bad, but I've also had better things at other places at a cheaper price.

Kim is a great waitress, ask for her if you go.

The Nest is a restaurant that specializes in seafood.  One of the only ones I know of in Westmoreland County, besides say, Red Lobster.

The ambiance and style of the restaurant is top notch, which may come to a surprise given its location in downtown Jeannette.  (although Jeannette has a quaint downtown, it's been struggling as a community for quite a while now).

The service here was very good as well.  Not exactly high end, but very friendly and helpful.

The food here is A-OK.  We started off with the sampler platter.  It came with fried zucchini, fried mushrooms, and 3 large fried shrimp.  It was very tasty.  Also, the bread came out, which was slightly crispy from the butter they must put on the outside.  It would be pure awesomeness if it came out warm, but it was served cold, but very good.

I then ordered the baked stuffed shrimp.  It came with a salad and twice baked potato.  The salad was quite good.  It seemed to be romaine, iceberg, and some greens and only one cherry tomato.

The stuffed shrimp itself was a little disappointing.  The shrimp were very good, however the crabmeat stuffing, was what you would expect for a cheap crabcake (more stuffing than actual crab).  They might be better off just stuffing the shrimp with lump crab meat.  Also, the twice baked potato was über rich.  So rich, that I could only take two bites, and had to stop.

Also tried my partner's lobster.  Really good and I wished I would have ordered that instead.  I will be back to try this place out again.  Overall, pretty good.

It has been a few years since I have been to The Nest.  The staff was great and the food was very well prepared.  Nothing really jumped off of the plate tp me as incredible and the only complaint that I had was the bartender was lackluster.  I dined here during the Kentucky Derby and wanted a mint julep as a way of getting into the event.  After a few minutes our waitress told us that the bar did not have the ingredients.  That might have been the case, but its my understanding that a mint julep is made from water, bourbon, sugar, and mint leaf.  Not exactly the hardest ingredients to find in a restaurant.  I'm looking forward to my next visit because I did enjoy myself.  The 3 is simply because nothing exactly stood out as fantastic or horrible and I tend to rate somewhat harshly and if I'm looking for seafood in the Pittsburgh area I'm more prone to go to Monterey Bay (although if I want seafood and am looking for lobster and crab I will definitely go to The Nest).
