Northern Spy Cafe

I was lucky to find this place when I noticed the sign on the side of the road. After climbing a steep driveway the parking lot reveals a quaint, pretty location with a sizable outside porch for the warmer months. After having our first meal there, and being impressed by the great cocktails and impressive vegan and vegetarian offerings, I can say this is now my favorite restaurant bar in the area.

George is always welcoming at the bar and my wife and I love to stop in for a drink (try the namesake Northern Spy cocktail - it's amazing) and have some of the scrumptious sesame tofu wings. For something more substantial, the pad thai and the meatless meatloaf are delicious. Portions are very generous.

You can sit at the cozy bar or at the tables that surround it; if the weather is nice, the screened-in patio is lovely.

Service is terrific, the prices are decent, the decor is very nice but casual, and the food and drinks are excellent.

I was skeptical when I came here with a friend and she insisted we order TOFU wings. Yes, buffalo tofu wings. I took a chance, and was pleasantly surprised with how delicious they were! It's definitely something you won't find anywhere else. They are crispy on the outside and covered in a great buffalo sauce. I love that they are served with blue cheese and celery. The menu is diverse with creative choices and a variety of items that changes with the season.

As for service, the waitstaff is super-friendly, funny, and know their regulars. George, the owner, is charming and greets everyone like their family. The decor is sleek, clean, and seating expands outdoors to the spacious porch during the summer.

If you're looking for a fun, relaxed atmosphere, this is the place!
