I've been going to 80's night at Cabaloosa since I was 18. It's the best time to go when SUNY New Paltz is on break because it can get SUPER crowded and smell like armpit! Sometimes no amount of booze can hide the smell.
The 80s night DJ plays all the hits you want to hear.
There are drink specials for ladies, which I really enjoy. If you aren't a lady the drinks are still very reasonably priced.
Now that I am older I like that I can go upstairs to Oasis which is a much more chill atmosphere.
Ah, good ol' Cabs. Â Many a great musical drunk night here. Â But the thing is it's really two bars in one, since it's two bars. Â You have Oasis upstairs, which is more of an intimate bar, the decor is similar to being in a cave, Â but with a pool table. Â I had some great win streaks on that table years ago. Â But as I remember Cabs had a different musical theme every night, and it was always good music. Â If you get hungry, just march up the steps to Oasis and get their mozzarella sticks. Â Soooooo good. Â Oasis also had live music but usually more of either an open mic night or a single person playing guitar or singing. Â Or someone (like me) getting up on the microphone while drunk and mumbling out an extrememly bad joke. Â But that was ten years ago.
Review Source:Wow, first reviewer! I feel like a dork ha ha. I think no one review this place because this bar is totally in the CUTS of upstate NY in a little college town called New Paltz.
Anyways, I went to this bar on a Thursday night which is THERE 80'S NIGHT! I loved every minute I was at this place. Their music was awesome, the crowd was hype. Some people, even some of the people I went with whom I just met that day, dressed in their 80s attire for the night. It was great. They have a big outdoors area where you could smoke, drink, make-out and whatever else you crazy kids like  to do.
Also, for those late night munchies after clubbing, you could just walk around the corner to this pizza place. I don't remember what the place was called, it was just a few buildings down to the right. Â But yeah, 80s night was awesome.
