Stopped by only because the adjoining hotel gave me a token for a free dessert. Â My wife and I ordered the Strawberry Shortcake. Â What we received were two buttered English Muffins with whipped cream and frozen strawberries strewn on top. Â It was horrible. Â The only saving grace was that this disastrous dish was free.
Review Source:I can see how they may get mixed reviews. Â Appears to be understaffed. Â I only came to the bar for drinks as a guest of the hotel that is attached. Â The meals coming out of the kitchen did not have the appearance of something appetizing. Â
Bartender was attentive and polite. I didn't wait long for drinks and the pours were generous. Â I don't suggest eating here as a hotel guest. Â There are plenty of other options closely. Â But it is a logical stop for a nightcap as a hotel guest.
Service was spotty slow and sloppy. Server apologized so often and so expertly it came off as local charm. Believe me, she couldn't apologize enough. Food was so-so. Rip off. you're better off at Friendly's, a block away. heck, you're better off fasting...this place is an overpriced disaster
Review Source:A very unpretentious bar with really good food and a great bar staff. Â Rachel took care of our needs at the bar all night and was she ever a perfect server!
I had the filet with a caesar salad along with a side of the Montreal Tips! Â El Yumo!!!
I would eat here again in a heart beat!
Went on a Tuesday night for around 5:30. It wasn't busy when we first got there, there were 4 of us, and only 1 waitress the entire night.
After ordering and getting our drinks, which by the way they no longer brew their own beer, apparently haven't in many years according to the waitress. We waited over 30 min for refills of flat soda and beer. 45 min for food, and I didn't get my salad until I was half way done my meal....
With the limited selection they have for dinner apparently the rib-eye is good, even though my friend ordered the sirloin instead, the rest of our food came out room temp and bland.
I got the Alfredo with chicken and had to saw apart the over cooked tenders that were thrown on the plate. And I'm not sure why but there were onions in the pasta, perhaps that was an error on the waitress' side since another member of our group asked for onions with her steak, perhaps she wrote onions for everyone!
The other 2 members of our group got the Chicken Cesar wrap and the Montreal Steak. The wrap was so-so and the steak was ok, could have been warmer.
The rice was crunchy and the veggies were cold. The Cesar salad I ordered had barely any dressing on it, but if we are going for the portion size of a side salad it would have been perfect, if I had gotten it before half my dinner was finished.
We received no attention from the waitress all evening. We had certificates from http://restaurant.com which adds 18% grat on the bill, so I guess she figured she didn't have to work for her tip that night....
It was freezing in there, the ac was cranked and when it did get busy in there from the hotel guests coming down for dinner people were swapping tables to get away from the air vents.
The raido was blaring the music from Pandora, a member of our group had to get up and ask them to turn it down.
Overall I would not come back, ever.
My husband and I went into the Nutfield for the first time one rainy, chilly saturday night at about 7pm to find the restaurant completely empty. Â For most of our meal in fact, we were the only ones there (a mother and child from the hotel came in near the end). Â
Our first impression was "generic-pretty" contemporary decor. Â The AC was blasting, which had us shivering after coming in from the rain. Â Being the only table seated, the waitress was plenty attentive, but not over-bearing, which is always a danger in an empty restaurant. Â We were however, quite put-off when we mentioned that it was quite cold and our server responded with a "the AC isn't on, so..." and seemed not the least bit concerned. Â We were sitting directly under a vent and could clearly feel the cold air.
I ordered a coffee to help warm myself up (and proceeded to cling to the cup throughout the meal), and my husband got a Grateful Dead. Â My coffee was thankfully fairly fresh and plenty hot, but my husband's drink seemed to be half chambord, half tequila...but at least it warmed him up! Â For dinner, I ordered a grilled turkey sandwich, and my husband got steak tips with rice. Â My sandwich was pretty good, filled with a shocking amount of meat (at least half a pound), it was slightly greasy and still cool in the middle (not a surprise considering the size of it), but the quality of all the ingredients was very good, the bread was grilled perfectly, and the french fries were fresh and nicely seasoned. Â My husband's steak was fine, and the wild rice medley would have been very good if it wasn't still crunchy.
IF this had been a busy night, we may have overlooked these problems and CONSIDER coming back in the future. Â But considering they had only one table to concentrate on, I have to conclude that this is the best they can do. Â We will not be back.
This restaurant is rather small, about 10 tables and a dozen or so stools at the bar. The menu is equally small, with standard appetizers, a burger, a sandwich, a couple salads and 2 or 3 very pricey steaks. Â All menu items are priced a bit on the high side, but if you are just staying for the night and have no transportation, any establishment has you by the wallet.
Having said all that, our overall experience was a good one. The bartender/waitress/room service delivery girl was running the whole show, and did so with a smile. Â They have 4 or so beers on tap and at least a dozen microbrews in bottles. Two of us shared a half order of nachos which was MORE than enough, then one had a burger and great fries (crunchy on the outside and well seasoned, but soft on the inside) and the other had a HUGE Cobb Salad.
In a nutshell (Nutfield...yes, pun intended, haha), the menu was limited and a bit over priced, but the atmosphere was quaint, the beer was cold, the location was convenient, and the service was friendly. That's good enough for me!
Don't be fooled by the artistic sign out front. All the years I've lived in Manchester, I've thought "that looks like a cool place" just on the basis of that woodcut-like tree swinging in the breeze. Oh, vain thought!
No, the inside looks like the inside of the hotel it's attached to, and the menu was horrifically overpriced for only average food. The steak was bland, the service OK, and the atmosphere stagnant. Patrons seemed to consist of hotel guests or older, lewd men. Shan't be back.
