Being a fan of all things Irish, I had to go to O'conners Irish Pub while visiting Springfield today. Â I drove up, eyeballing the place, not really sure if I'd bother going in, it looked so tiny, then I came around to the side, bigger than I thought and with a patio.
I go in at about 12 noon. Â Much bigger than I thought it would be. Â It's got a bit of an Irish pub feel, lots of wood, dark but still cheery and comfortable. Â Very welcoming. Â There were two guys there when I walked in and got a big hello from the blonde haired bartender. Â I got great service, never rushed, just the right amount of check backs. Â I asked for a recommendation as I was new to the pub and she gave me a few - gotta trys. Â I decided on a big ole greasy cheeseburger with the handcut fries. Â I know, I know, not very Irish of me but as soon as she said burger, I was there.
Got what I asked for, only thing I forgot was to say and she didn't ask was to prep my burger med-well with a push as I got it medium....not optimum but I can live with it. Â A large Guiness to wash it down made my lunch Irish for me, I finished, paid my bill and was off.
I will definitely go back again. Â Springfield has a really nice place here to offset their preponderance of chain restaurants....I mean really guys, don't you get sick of Perkins?
I love supporting small business and this is one I'd love to be able to pick up and bring back to Columbus with me.
The first time I went to Oconners, I was not impressed. I did go back to give the place another try and I am glad I did!! This time we were helped by a woman named Bre ( like the cheese :) ). Â She was sweet as can be!! She all ways checked up on us, and had interesting conversation when she stopped by. Â All of the mixed drinks I ordered were mixed well and very well priced!! I don't know if i just caught them on a bad night before, But going back has defiantly changed my opinion of this wonderful bar!!!
