so, I came here on a Sunday night.  ALL by myself.  I wanted to see what was going in Lowell. What I learned was. . .NOTHING! place is pretty much dead. . .on a Sunday.  I was the out of Towner, looking for something to do! As I walked in there was the awesome bartender and 3 other guys.  I walk to the bar and order my usual, crown and coke.  I had a small conversation with the bartender.  He was very informative.  As, the night grew on, others came in for a drink or two.  The place had abt 15 ppl.
I felt out of place, due to how I was dressed.  I've learned MA ppl don't dress up @ all when they go out.  So my dressing down was a sundress and flats.
Choppin' it up with the locals, the night began to happen.  Everyone was really friendly.
Lowell, MA downtown is very quaint and small. . .ohhh and the cobblestone roads, blahhh.
Other than that, I actually had a blast!

oh yahhh very cheap drinks! my crown and coke was $7! :)

Reasonable prices and not a bad hangout.  You could definitely do worse.

One of my favorite places to frequent when I choose to go out in downtown Lowell.

Very friendly staff and efficient, quick service.  Typical mixed drinks are $5, which is a good deal when you compare to Boston pricing; the drinks are deceptive as the glass appears small, but there is still a very satisfactory amount of alcohol.  I'm never disappointed!

On weekend nights it can pack a full crowd, but this is one place where I absolutely never feel unsafe; the patrons vary from college kids to mid-30s and middle class, which contrasts from many of the other local bars who attract a seedier crowd.  Bouncers and staff are friendly, but firm and so the atmosphere is also one that is pleasant, positive, and safe!

I've eaten here many times and their pub food is above average; tasty sandwiches, yummy fish specials, and some of the best chili around!  They have some Irish fare as well, and I used to obsess over their shepherd's pie, however, they must have changed cooks, because now it's prepared differently and I prefer the older version.  Older version had lots a caramelized onion gravy that was out of this world scrumptious, but the new version is blander and the onions seem to be entirely gone from the recipe.  The brown bread that accompanies the pie is fresh and delicious, though!  Crispy onion rings are also a great nibble.

Trivia on Tuesdays packs a crowd and is a fun night out with a group of friends or family!
