Olde Saratoga Cafe & Bakery

Great value, great food, very small inside (maybe 6 tables, saw people get turned away this morning)

Driving through Schuylerville around 1PM on MLK Day, I needed to stop for lunch. Most places in the village were closed due to the holiday. However, I stumbled upon Olde Saratoga Cafe & Bakery, which looked very much open with cars parked out in front and in the tight adjacent parking lot. This place saves the day!

This breakfast and lunch cafe is very quaint and cozy with a very relaxed atmosphere. There are several tables for dining in (full service waitstaff), in front of the bakery/coffee counter.They offer the typical breakfast fare (served all day) as well as fresh baked goods & desserts, soups, salads, sandwiches, grilled items, and special dishes. A children's menu is offered. They offer also offer gourmet coffee drinks and Italian sodas.

I was given a menu and offered a drink as I sat down. I started out with a hot cup of coffee ($1.25), which was really good and strong with a robust flavor, just the way I like it.

I decide to go with the special with was Stuffed Peppers ($7.95) served with a salad. The food comes out quickly and the server asks if I'd like some extra sauce, which was definitely needed. I was given tomato sauce to pour over the stuffed peppers, which had a dense and soft ground beef/rice mixture, a similar texture to meatloaf, stuffed into 2 large crunchy green peppers. The accompanying salad was very fresh served with a side of raspberry vinaigrette dressing. This tasty comfort dish was very filling and I decided to skip dessert.

The service was attentive and efficient. Refills were offered and given on the coffee, which was greatly appreciated, especially with a long drive ahead. I will have to stop here again for some dessert and coffee.
