I'm a new fan of Oleary's!  I've just been there once but the drinks were cheap, the jukebox full of country music and the atmosphere lively.  What else is there in life?

it doesn't take too much to become a regular here...but you must enjoy the bartenders recognizing you when you walk in and handing you a 22 ouncer of coors light without you asking...if the victoria pub is too young for you and the keynote is too old....then olearys is just right....

Great neighborhood bar! Not too big to get lost in the mix bust just the right size to be noticed!   The bartenders are great and remember who you are.  Good selection of beers on tap and in bottles.  Well made drinks at fair prices. Been coming here for 10 years and hopefully 10 more!

Free WiFi would be a plus.  Reception is not the greatest!

Not a fan.. took 10 min, for the bartender to ask me what I would like.. after she walked past me... 5x...and I was staring right at her the whole time.... I'll go somewhere else.

Everytime I've been in O'Learys its been a pleasant experience. They have tvs, jukebox, a pool table and the bartender is always friendly, always ready to open up another cold one.

Dive bar, heavy-handed bartenders, unpredictable crowd - you can never know if it'll be some old biker dudes, young hipsters, or completely deserted. Always bring a friend, and you'll probably have a decent time. Definitely the best place for bar games, offering shuffle board, darts, pool, occassional beer pong, bar trivia, air hockey table, karaoke, and probably more.
Nice if you don't want to throw on more than jeans and flippy-floppies while imbibing and eating popcorn (their offered bar fare). Not so great for meeting your next fling or making long-lasting friendships.

O'Learys is my favorite bar in town, and I'll tell you why. There's a constantly friendly atmosphere there that's unmatched anywhere else I've been. Drink prices are reasonable and during the week you get a very mixed crowd. I've been here dozens of times and never seen anybody get out of control. I've never seen this place have a bouncer on staff, and as far as I can tell it's because they really don't need one.

During the week, this is where I go with friends to chat and just hang out. Electronic darts, full shuffleboard table, two pool tables, and AIR HOCKEY(!) are available for your entertainment.

Alright, so you may have to disregard my earlier review as I'm now employed here... some might find that to be a conflict of interest ;).

HOWEVER-- I must say that the stripper pole is gone now and the old not-so-great jukebox has been replaced by this awesome newfangled dealie that is full of great music and will even search for and download more music off the internet.

The half-way to Saint Paddy's Day celebration is coming up in September and there is live music just about every weekend. And those free meatballs that G.Y. mentioned? It's not always meatballs but it's always free! Monday through Friday, you can come in after 4 o'clock and there's always something yummy cooking up in the crock pot.

You would think that O' Leary's would be a big-time Irish Pub located on a main drag or bustling area, but it's actually tucked in a small business center right next to the Ventura Govt. Center. This doesn't mean one bit that because it is a small bar, it doesn't ring big-time feel, atmosphere, good company & great bartenders to take care of you right! With 2 pool tables, shuffleboard, air hockey (Yes, I did say air hokey!), 3 TV's, and a great Juke Box; this is definitely one place you should make a stop for a quick drink. Just the right kind of service you are looking for in a quaint, easy-going local bar!

Once a year or 18 months or so, I'll wander into O RLY's to see if it's become less of a shithole.

Nope. Everything seems to be the same, except now they have nudie mags on the bar and a stripper pole in the middle of the room.

(There are free meatballs in the crock pot by the jukebox, if that's your thing. I can't vouch one way or the other on those.)

    Ventura is an interesting place.

When I say interesting, I mean they'll have a little bar in a business park. Now I'm not saying that's not a place where a bar belongs, but it is a little surprising to find a place called Oleary's Sidebar in one of those black cube-looking, oh so modern buildings.

Small, space, large bar. I can see the place getting pretty cramped on a good night. They have a pool table and a shuffleboard table where they keep their pucks neatly stowed away in a Crown Royal bag ($0.50 a game). The band that was there that night is semi-regular, and they do a good job of covering the rock classics (extra prop to the lady bassist who sings AND rocks out with her wireless pickup!).

It's a shame that the bartenders in the back didn't have the better sense to make a Colaweizen (1/3-1/4 pint glass filled with cola, top with hefenweizen) by pouring the cola first, THEN the beer, which caused problems aplenty. Oh well. You can't win 'em all.

Either way, a bar is a bar and you can get your drink on here just fine.
