Only 1 star because zero Is not an option (consider changing this yelp). Went here with a friend and her 6 year old daughter during our February school vacation. My recommendation is to keep on driving right past this place!

The service was HORRIBLE. We waited to order - finally the waitress arrived (not friendly either) and we ordered 2 glasses of wine which would be our only glasses as she NEVER came back to ask if we'd like another. We asked for some bread that never came (she said "no problem") I guess no problem was code for not happening.

The food was criminal. My friend's daughter got the hot dog - which they must have screwed up b/c what kid doesn't like a hot dog. She ate maybe half.

I had the buffalo chicken wrap and sweet potato fries - could have had the same thing for less money at a chain restaurant. My friend got the boneless buffalo tenders which she couldn't choke down.

At the end of our meal the presumptuous waitress brought my friend a to - go container but not me (even though I had half a sandwich left). I honestly had zero intention of eating it but made her get me a to-go container too just to prove a point.

$70 later we leave wishing we had stayed in, and the poor six year old had a bad belly.

As we were waiting to pay our tab we heard the gentleman at the table behind us complaining to the manager about the same sort of things. The manager made excuses for the waitress saying she gave her too many tables (really? ) and then offered to pay the man's tab (he was insulted - said he could pay, but wanted her to know the staff was horrible).

Keep driving - it's the Cape and there are plenty of other options - even in the off season.

This is a spot we go to when all else fails.  The service in the tavern is attentive and friendly.  The food is okay, drinks are good.

Today, my dad, my sister, her fiance, and I went to Oliver's.

We ate in the dining room over the Planck's Tavern option. The corner booth we were given was clean and spacious, as well as well set. Since it was my dad's birthday lunch the cost was not an issue.

The waitress brought us the water, rolls, and menu, promptly along with with chowder that accompanied the meals, which was very good. (As a Cape native I would swear it was Captain Parker's chowder which has been sold commercially.)

The menu was large and the prices were assumed to reflect the quality of the food. My father ordered the Fried Seafood Platter, my sister and I ordered the Broiled Seafood Platter, and her fiance modestly ordered the Chicken Fajita. We soon found out that his modest decision was the wisest of them all.

He received the only plate that was worth eating let alone looking at.. The broiled plates that we received in the pretense of a seafood platter could only be considered less than impressive at the $20 price tag. Not only were they meager the arrangement of the so called 'platter' was apparently an afterthought since it looked like an assortment of cheap buffet sides. The broiled plates were a mess all over in the sense that the the stuffed shrimp were rubber and stuffed with a stuffing amalgam, the haddock was cooked to shoe leather status with the same funny breading as a topping,  and the scallops were the covered in the same dame stuff too. A solid waster of $40.

The Fried Platter my dad received was was large, but the presentation could only be considered amateur at best. The fish fillet was broken into five pieces and laid over his platter. Now I am not sure who expects a broken piece of fish but a five piece crumble was something else because of the Bisquik-like batter. Under that were a few assorted greasy pieces of whole belly clams and fried scallops with the same very poor batter.

Maybe he was being polite but my sister's fiance had no complaints with his wrap.

Maybe get a burger, but I would recommend going somewhere else.

What they did to a scallop should be criminal.

Started with a dozen wellfleets and they were yummy. I opted for the chowder to start. Frankly it was borderline inedible. Way over salted and with canned clams that chewed like an eraser.

Main course I went with the surf and turf. I ordered the beef rare assuming that they would over cook it. Good move, came out medium rare. The scallops were the real problem. Apparently grilled means poached. I'm not sure how they did it but they were bland and devoid of texture. Add a sprinkling of seasoned bread crumbs circa 1979 and you've got it. Wish the would pan sear and save the junk.

As someone who has worked in the hospitality business, I understand that a waitress can have a table where everything seems to go wrong. Forgotten appetizers and bad food are amongst those listed. However, I knew something was really wrong when I started to bond with the tables around me about the "not so good food." Their concerns matched my own.

To give you a closer look into our dining experience, the "special" we ordered was meant to taste e"special"ly delicious. That, however, was not the case. Not only was the special undercooked, but the regular menu was overcooked.

On a more positive note, the waitresses were extremely embarrassed. Some had worked there for nearly 15 years and hadn't seen a night as bad as ours. The entrees were taken off the bill without question leaving us with a bar tab.

On a recent Cape Cod vacation, my family made a trip to Olivers after noticing the restaurant in a local restaurant advertising catalog. I guess there is a reason why Olivers need to advertise, because word of mouth isn't working for them.

Cup of clam chowder is about 4 tablespoons worth. Bowl of clam chowder is enough for a sasquatch. Somehow it's only a $1 difference. Please tell me why my waitress didn't tell me about this size difference.

After playing  a round of golf, I was in need of a huge meal. I ordered the steak in an alfredo sauce. The waitress was ecstatic about my selection saying it was her favorite item on the menu. I thought this could be good. My excitement was through the roof.

I got steak with some pasta with a little sauce on them. BORINNNNNNNNG. I was so disappointed. I actually didn't even finish the meal, doggie-bagged it for home, then the next day added some key ingredients to make this meal more appetizing. Not good when you have to alter the dish yourself. Someone else ordered the Seafood Pizza, which sounds great, but it was again...DRY and boring. I think the chef back there is a Sauce Nazi. NO SAUCE FOR YOU.

Too bad negative stars aren't available. Hostess and what seemed to be part of owners family was nice enough, staff was average at best.   Food was just awful. Just plain awful. I mean, it's like they stopped trying. My wife asked if the "famous" haddock fish fingers were fresh or frozen. The waitress, perplexed, said " kinda both.". To end the awkwardness my wife offered "flash frozen?" and the waitress nodded. I knew right then we were in trouble. Kids liked their hamburger and pasta, but give them a Shirley temple and they'll like anything. I got the pizza which was nasty and the famous fish fingers were soggy and gross.  I'm not picky, but this stuff was all just frozen microwaved crap. Don't bother.
We left 90% of the food on the Plate and the waitress didn't even bat an eyelash as she carted away a full plate of barely touched fish sticks, obviously ignoring that they were not apreciated.  Let me end it this way, it was so bad we didn't even complain because it was clear that it wouldn't matter. I didn't want my money back or an apology,  I just waned the bill so I could leave and write this review and hopefully save another family from this farce.

I have to revise my review of Olivers up by a star because of their impressive thoughtfulness around vegetarian dishes.  I went there recently and noticed a new summer special "Vegetable Bouillabaisse" - this dish is full of root vegetables and tofu marinated in a garlicy marinara sauce.  This dish was filling, flavorful, and unique, especially for Cape Cod.  Finally, something I can eat that is not a veggie burger, veggie wrap, or salad!

I love the ambiance of their tavern/bar area, too.  Each table area is decorated with information about a local historical shipwreck, which I found to be uniquely cute.

In addition, the service there lately has been impeccable.  The waitresses remember what my parents order even after only a couple of visits.  They really do a good job of getting you exactly what you want quickly with a smile on their faces.  And finally, the topper on the cake is this place is extremely affordable; you get a lot for what you pay.  Great value.

Went there at 5:00ish on a Friday night. Plan was to sit in the bar and it was busy in there but not overcrowded. We found a booth under the hanging canoe and it was clean and bustling. We ordered drinks and hoped for a nice bread basket to come but, sadly, it did not! The drinks were good and we ordered aps. The lobster quesedillas were ok...better than expected with a spicy bite. We also ordered a beef burrito and it was big enough to share. The burrito was ok - nothing to write home about but good for two hungry people! The place was clean, the waitress was good and the menu looked interesting but not overwhelming. The crowd in the bar at the time was oldies but goodies. It's definitely an enjoyable hangout with moderately good food - course our experience with the food was somewhat limited.

Silly me assumed that since its only April, there won't be a wait on the Cape when you go out to dinner.  3 stops and 2 cranky kids later, end up at Olivers, and suck it up for the 30-45 minute wait.  I explained my dilemma to the hostess, obviously not alot she can do.  Or so I thought.  The manager grabbed my attention to the bar table that just vacated and I ran to grab it.  Granted they won me over right there, but the food and service were great as well.  Fantastic chowder, nice and briny Welfleet oysters, and this pizza ball in the brick oven which was a hit.  Too bad I could barely eat my dinner, but that's on me.  :)

Five of us had lunch here today. It was pretty good. The seafood is the best bet as the fish and chips were a hit with some members of our party On the other hand, the southwestern grilled chicken salad was mediocre at best. A better name would perhaps be bland salad with some chicken on top. My daughter was not thrilled with it...it looked and tasted totally lack luster. My scallop special was very disappointing, also. The coating was tasteless and soggy wet and fell off each individual scallop. The butternut squash had obviously been microwaved and so were the "hot rolls." The chowder was fine. I feel this may be a good place for a fast lunch but not for a special occasion. Too many special touches are missing.

Good clam chowder and lots of lobster in the lobster roll special, could've used lemon on the side...good beer selection. Rest of food was average.
Steak fries and sweet potato fries. My burger was lousy.

Olivers provides slightly above average American cuisine with seafood. The servers are professionals. They have a large variety of healthy choices on the menu. They offer large or medium entrée portions which is a GREAT option.

I had scallops and pesto on a salad and my husband had prime rib. Both came with a side and were pretty good.

It has a real family restaurant vibe, which is not really my thing, but if you're hungry, it's an option.

Hubby and I were driving up 6A looking for a place to eat for lunch. I thought it would be overpriced like many other tourist traps on the Cape. We just wanted a sandwich or  something small.

I was pleasantly surprised to find reasonable prices and generous portions. I ordered the English style fish and chips. It came with a cup of clam chowder, rolls, fries and slaw all for around $9. I ended up taking one of the pieces of fish (great crispy haddock!) and all of the fries to go as it was just too large.

Hubby ordered the lobster roll and seemed pleased with it, though being lobster it was a bit pricier than the rest of the lunch options. Good stuff!

We have been there enough times now to feel comfortable recommending it. Food is good to very good and we were treated well. Of course we are " old people" as mentioned in another review but we would gladly go back again. Not a favorite, but reliable.

My family went there for an anniversary celebration and it was wonderful.  Atmosphere was great, food was great and the service was top notch.  It's a beautiful spot overlooking plymouth harbor.  Have valet parking.

While vacationing on the Cape with my girlfriend, we were looking for one of the casual places to go for dinner where you can have some good food and a few drinks in a good atmosphere. Planck's Tavern (bar side of Oliver's) was our choice and it couldn't have been better. It was exactly the type of place we were looking for.

We were greeted by who would eventually be our waiter who said something in the effect of "you can sit wherever you would like but this area has the best service!" Made us feel comfortable right off the bat. He was right on with everything. Recommendations for foods, asking us if we would like another drink as soon as the last was finished, and there was never a delay in any part of the meal (there were a good amount of customers in there too). I had swordfish for the first time (grilled) and it was delicious! Couldn't have chosen a better place to go that night!

Good food and drink for your buck.  Nice wait staff and one of the best beers on tap in the region "Old Chub"  which is a scottish ale with loads of flavor.  Take advantage of their early appetizers.  fish & chips are very good, especially the English Version.  I also think they have one of the best burgers around.  It's one of my regular stops.

went for lunch Thurs and sat at the bar. I had the beer battered fish and chips. It was $9.99 and ok, but a little greasy. Service and atmosphere were nice. All in all, not a bad joint but I wouldn't make a destination place. Clancy's and Chapins give you more for the money.

When I mentioned I was going to Oliver's to meet some old high school friends, my sister's reaction was, "That's for old people."  True, Oliver's does have many seniors in for an early dinner, but I was pleasantly surprised at the decent prices and food and pleasant bar.

Our group of 8 was accommodated on the back patio at around 8 pm.  We had the whole thing to ourselves.  The waiter was attentive and informative.  The food was reasonably priced and tasted good.  Most of the group chose a pizza, which was huge for one person. I had a Cesar salad preceded by Welfleet oysters.  The oysters were Amazing...well above average.  There were lots of locals (and former locals like some of us) at the bar.

I wouldn't seek the place out weekly, but it was a perfect central meeting place for our group, and I'd gladly return if the circumstances are right again.

Wow, after last night's surprising experience with ABBA this old school place at half the price had fresher veggies (grilled) for my wife and superlative lobster pie (no muss no fuss) for myself and companion.  Our check for 3 with no drinks and desert was $62, and the food was delicious, the service busy, but attentive and the place packed with happy locals....Tune in tommorrow.
