Friday night dinner time crowd was pretty chill, a few rowdies. I got the bluegill dinner with sweet potato tots, grilled veggies and garlic bread, the man got the BBQ pulled pork and fries. Everything was an A+. Cute waitresses, super polite and efficient and the last time I had fish that good was when I was growing up in michigan and we caught it ourselves and grandpa cut it up and fried it up within hours of catching it. Sweet potato tots were a unique surprise. I hate tater tots and the man hates sweet potatoes and we both scarfed them down. There regular fries were nicely beer battered and super crispy :-) price wasn't bad at all for what you got.
Review Source:I love Oscar's. I always end up having a great time whether its on a busy Saturday or a low key weekday. It's a great place to go out on the weekends cuz I love dancing and they have a dance floor with good hits. It's also a cool place to hang out though and not just like a club. I've never had the food here bit I've heard its pretty good.
Review Source:I know there are people that love this place, I'm just not one of them. It's a nice large bar with plenty of room for large party's and an outdoor patio area. The atmosphere is okay, but it kind of has a factory or warehouse feeling with the large open ceilings. They have a large fish tank behind the bar which helps make the place feel a little more welcoming.
They have wireless speakers that you can place on your table so you can listen to one of the games or programs on the TV. That's pretty cool and fun. I was tempted to get one while we were there just to see how they worked, but the only thing that was on the TVs was Golf and Baseball... and I don't like either.
The service we had was okay, nothing all that great and the place wasn't that busy. The waitress just seemed bored and not wanting to be at her job. Then again, who does?
They have various specials each day of the week. On Sunday it was $1.75 Drafts... but they where tiny. Still the best deal though, I just started ordering two at a time.
On one of their table adds they had a sign that said they were voted best wings in Rockford. It was also available in boneless. I love me some hot wings and I will judge a place based on them, so I ordered some boneless hot wings to see what they where like. What came was a basket of cubed (yes it was cubes, seriously, they looked almost like dice) chicken breasts, breaded and in sauce. I applaud them for making boneless wings, but they could try to make them look a little bit more appetizing. The sauce on them was okay, but far from what I consider "The Best" I don't know who voted for them, but they need to get to some other places that have hot wings and try them. Don't get me wrong, they were good, but they weren't great and they were far from the best.
Overall, it's not a bad place, I just didn't like the atmosphere and something about it makes me feel that if I was there on a Friday or Saturday night it would be a meat market.
Better than the club down the street....
This place was great...I'm guessing this was one of the only hottest bars in Rockford. It had alot of people on Saturday night. It was a bit crowded but it was not bad. The DJ and music was great. Security was a bit strict...he stop all the asian girls for a while because we all look so young. But we still got in. Staff was very nice and provided great service.
