SE corner of Brookhurst & Atlanta
This neighborhood Sports Bar (or Dive Bar to some) kind of struggles for identity.... I mean it has the name "Out of Bounds" which tips the proverbial hat to sports, BUT it kind of looks like a Tiki Bar in various places. There's thatching here and there and there is also Tiki Statues inside and out, but not a whole lot of the Tiki theming as if the decor was somewhat of an afterthough to sort of give the place some character and maybe set itself apart from other places. This is not a complaint, but just an observation.
Judging by the photos that are posted there seems to be some favorite bartenders here which had me looking for mine. I talked to Rebecca one time and she was most awesome. She was shorter in stature, had kind of a high voice, a little bit of a lisp, and just an utter blast to listen to. She was so kind and attentive. She really helped make that particular visit to this place even more enjoyable.
This place is pretty big. There's plenty of places to sit in the form of booths or right up at the bar itself and there are lots of different types of games (including pool) if you would like. There are tons of TVs throughout if you want to catch your favorite game. There is also a stage for live music. When there is no live music then the background audio is set to a limit that is conducive to normal conversation without having to yell!
Yes it is pretty dark inside, but fortunately not so dark it makes getting around difficult. The bathrooms are kept clean and the clientele seems pretty nice.
The main reason I like coming here... well besides the awesome bartenders of course is for both their reasonably priced alcohol and good food.
This place really makes for a great spot to gather with some friends and soak back some suds or maybe indulge in their great menu.
There is plenty of parking in their dedicated lot.
Terrible service. I gave it 2 different shots once on a weekday and once on a weekend. And both times the service was horrible. I actually sat at the bar (not crowded) and waited 13 min. b4 someguy who was watching me wait went over to the bartender and said this young lady has been waiting a very long time. Did she care...not in the least bit. I will try one more time bc i can walk to this place from my house. But words to the owners: i understand u want "hot babes" working there but try to make sure thery're not dumb as dirt.
Review Source:Sketchy divebar full of douchebags. If you're a dude wanting to play pool & drink beer, then I guess this could be your go-to place but it definitely was not for me. I got my phone stolen RIGHT off the table I was sitting at while I was turned around. Needless to say, I will NEVER be coming here again! I'd steer clear of OOBS & head to The Pen if you want to go to a better divebar with pool and cheap drinks.
