I am a fan of the Lee's Summit Peanut. My boyfriend is obsessed with the wings that they have at all of the Peanut's and we just happened to be in LS. We were one of four tables in the restaurant so we had great service and got our food quick. I had the BLT- so good- was rated highly on one of the Pitch's articles. I felt that it could have been cleaner, but that is the Peanut for you.
Review Source:I am shocked and very disappointed at the service I received here, especially since I am such a fan of all the other Peanuts, and unfortunately this is the closest one to me.
Not only did it take 20min for us to receive our drinks after we ordered them, when the waitress came to clear our glasses she didn't ask if we would like another, and it took another 10min to flag her back down to repeat the process. Â By the third round my party had given up and resorted to going to the bar to order drinks. Â Then the beer I got from the bar, A Blue Moon with an orange slice, came with a moldy orange. Â I didn't notice until after I had drank it. Â I took it up to the bar, because as a bartender I would want to be made aware, and was told I was wrong, it was only the core. Â As if I don't know the difference. Â Never going here again!
Another solid bar in downtown Lees Summit.  If you've been to a Peanut before you know what to expect, the place is much larger than the other Peanut locations but the food is just as good.  The recently updated their menu to be more in-line with the rest of the locations (a BLT with no fried egg is barely a BLT at all), which is a good thing.  The wings are obviously what you are either there for, or what you will be back for, but the food is always good to great  for bar food, depending on what you consider that to be.  I will of course, always come back for the wings, you will too
Review Source:Lee's Summit's Peanut has a rather more gentrified atmosphere than it's older sister on Main Street in Kansas City, Missouri. Â It's still mostly a bar but it is at least twice as big, has two bars and lots more TVs playing sports. Â The music on the jukebox was very heavy on Country songs while we were there for a late lunch this afternoon.
The menu is familiar though, and offers good sandwiches, sides and a lot of the same items as the other Peanut. Â I ordered a Triple BLT and that really hit the spot. Â For a dollar more the kitchen will replace the potato chips with a different side. Â Hubby and I both went with the onion rings and they were great! Â Hubby ordered the pressed Cuban Sandwich and that was another winner. Â I had a bite and would definitely order it myself sometime (if I ever get tired of the wonderful BLTs). Â That probably won't be anytime soon because, at The Peanut, a BLT includes a generous handful of grated cheddar cheese and chopped red onion. Â Oh my, just talking about it makes me ALMOST hungry enough for another one right now!
Even though there were precious few other customers when we got there in mid-afternoon, our sandwiches were a little slow coming out of the kitchen but our server was very helpful and sweet and overall, I enjoy this location and the food has always been good when we are there. Â So I am a fan.
This is a fine place, but there are certainly better choices in downtown Lee's Summit (which has a surprisingly good collection of neat bars). The service is OK but not overly fast nor friendly (though not rude either). The drinks have never been poured all that strong, but the prices tend to reflect that. I have never had the food here, but it looks average for bar food...cheap and filling but not necessarily memorable. The back patio is pretty mediocre too. Really, this whole bar gets the job done but is not a winner.
Review Source:I'm aware of the famed chicken wings at the urban locales of the Peanut, but hadn't experienced them at my local Lee's Summit outpost until today. Â I'm really pretty ashamed that I've spent any game days at all at the likes of a Buffalo Wild Wings when this option is a scant four blocks from my door. Â
Props to the Peanut for having the good sense to be open on Sundays, which is not a trait common to most establishments in Lee's Summit's picturesque but not always-utilitarian-for-the-locals downtown. Â We actually ended up there after attempting to spread the local biz love around and patronize a newer establishment in the area that is supposedly renowned for wings (note to them...if you're not gonna be open on a playoff game Sunday, I don't know what to tell you about your future as a sports bar). Â No matter...glad for the way it panned out. Â If the Chiefs can't manage to win, at least I have my red and gold in the form of wing sauce and Boulevard Wheat with a lemon.
The place just your average bar in atmosphere...the building appears to have once been a motorworks, not sure if the motorcycle strung from the ceiling is in homage to that, or if it's just standard issue decor. Grubby-ish concrete floor, weathered tables, but lots of space. Appears to have a fairly decent selection of beers on tap, lots of TVs. Â I've had the nachos, which are only okay, but the wings are amazing. Â I live with a Buffalo-bred boy who insists we go to Anchor Bar, home of the original Buffalo-style wings, every time we are in his stompin' grounds (okay, maybe it's ME who insists), so I don't use the phrase "really good wings" lightly. Â But, I'm tellin' ya, I have had chicken breasts that don't have as much meat on them as the Peanut's wings. Â Win, all around. Â Even when the Chiefs lose.
Located in the picturesque part of downtown Lee's Summit, right across from the railroad tracks, the Peanut has a nice selection of draft beers and good food. Â Burger & onion rings were hot & delicious; service was attentive. Â There was no cover charge on the Friday night that we were there, despite a live band. Â Also, there's a charming little brick patio out back for the smokers, but on a nice day, it's quite the pleasant place to hang out even if you're not having a nic jones.
Review Source:In downtown Lee's Summit (or all of it for that matter) you basically have three options for bars--
*Jerry's Bait Shop
*Do Drop Inn (i've never been but I think it is guarded by the regulars)
*The Peanut (from henceforth referred to as "The Nut")
I'm a Jerry's fan because I like live music, but The Nut is a little better atmosphere for hanging out and throwing em back. Â No cover too. Â But where the Nut takes the edge on any bar I've seen in LS is it's extensive line of beers on tap. Â There's something for everyone.
Haven't had the food, so I can't comment there.
The clientele is typical Lee's Summit, Â 20 year olds and 40 year old white girls in halter tops, Â and just a few popped collar d-bags. Â Aside from that, it's all good.
It's OK, but it's not my favorite Peanut location. Â Â This is the largest of the Peanuts I have been to, but it lacks the real character of, say, the Plaza and Downtown locations. Â The environment just feels too clean and manufactured.
As a Peanut, though, you can expect decent food and pretty good beer prices. Â And plenty of games amenities to keep you entertained.
