    Good pizza pies

Of the top 3 pizza places in Athens*

If you like Little Italy, you'll like Peppino's, and maybe even a little more, since their menu encompasses all of Little Italy's and then some. Most notably are their hot and cold sandwiches, including but not limited to chicken parm, eggplant parm, and veal parm. Biggest sandwiches in town. I'm also a fan of their salad bar.

The place has more of a family restaurant feel, naturally, than its downtown counterpart, and as a result you may find friendlier service, since the staff doesn't have to deal with drunken 2am crowds.

I've been going here for around 10 years and never had a single issue or complaint. This is our post-football-game tradition and its always packed at that time.

*I put Little Italy and Transmet in the top 3 too. Whiplash was fantastic, but closed, sadly.

Pretty average pizza, but worth checking out. The large pizzas are HUGE, and can easily feed 5+ people.

Let's just say I have it on good authority that if you ask for meatless sauce at Peppinos, they still serve you meat sauce and pass it off as vegetarian. I've also seen them drop pizza face down on their floor and still serve it, and send an employee around to the parmesan shakers every morning to scrape out the mold.

The food IS pretty tasty, but the service is godawful, the management/owners doesn't care about their customers at all, and treat their employees even worse.

It's a traditional pizza parlor.  The food's okay and the staff are tolerable.  Come for happy hour $2.75 Miller Lite pitchers 1-5pm.

I judge a town on your ability to get a great steak and a great pizza, ideally not at the same place. Prologue has, by far, my favorite pizza in Athens or the southern US. They don't skimp on the cheese or the toppings. As far as the vegetarian complaints, I don't know about that. I get on of their pies at least weekly and have never gotten sick, so maybe it was excess beer that led to the other poster's comment. If I were wealthy and moved away, I would have a peppinos pie flown in. It's that good.

I love this place. Same pizza as Little Italy. Real deal New York style pizza. Open on Sunday when Little Italy is closed. Owned by a nice Italian couple.

While living in Athens, GA for three years, I learned one very important fact: select where you eat wisely!!!!! Very wisely, because if you don't the general apathy over health and sanitation in this town ( it is ridiculously low on the totem pole) will punch you in the stomach.... and most likely you find yourself haunched over the toilet literally flushing your money on food down the drain....

This is one of those place you would be better off skipping.
