Soup was good and filling.  Coffee was terribly weak. Sandwiches were a rip off. $6.75 for a tuna salad sandwich where I had to search for the tuna.  If I had not opted for the lettuce and tomatoe there would have been very little on the sandwich.  The turkey sandwich was little better, so little meat.  Ask them how much meat they intend to put on a sandwich before you order here.

There's something comforting about life in a quintessential small American town, and I think a big part of that is the food.  Krimson Kafe doesn't dish up the high fat, time intensive,special occasion food your mama made.  Instead, it serves the kind of simple sandwiches that might have been tucked in your lunch box or waiting for you when you got off the school bus.

My homemade chicken salad sandwich was accompanied by a pickle and a bag of chips.  It was a fresh and simple lunch for under $5.

The furnishings and decor are a mishmash of styles, sort of an unintentional "shabby chic," and the staff will treat you like family.  I guarantee that if you go, you'll understand why this is a Watkinsville institution and worth the short drive from Athens.
