A far cry from the Taco Stand downtown.
I don't want to be mean, but the food just wasn't any good. Not a bit. I ate it, but that was because I paid so much for basically a Taco Bell knockoff. I HAD to eat it.
The 10 chips on my wife's plate were pretty good. One had all the salt though, so I had to scrape it onto the other ones.
Hmmmm, what can I say good ... the staff was friendly? And they gave me a free salsa.
Wish I could be nicer, but I just think the food should be better for the price.
Overall pretty terrible food, terrible prices and not the friendliest bunch either. Â It's weird, their schtick is to be cheap mexican food, but its not cheap nor real mexican (dirty bearded Caucasians will slap your burrito together and deadpan faced high school girls will collect your money). Â The biggest mystery is why this has been an Athens institution for so long, people love this place. Â The only thing that I have no complaints about and that is actually done very well are the fish tacos. Â They are fried tilapia with a jalapeno slaw in a flour tortilla. Â Two fish tacos and a drink will cost you 8 bones. Â Ouch.
