Saw a couple here a few years back getting all lovey dovey and then things got serious. The chick said something to the guy, and he got so pissed he hurled something at the wall, and said, "ARE YOU SERIOUS, PAM?!" -- and then the dude walked out with who I think was his brother. The girl then said, "We're done." Anyway, I think the dude's name was Roy. I thought the owner was gonna call the cops on Roy and his brother, but apparently, they agreed to pay the bar owner with money they were going to spend on scuba gear or something. It was insane. Later, as I was leaving the bar, I saw this Roy character with his brother and he was saying something like how he was gonna kill a guy named Jim. Scary shit. Great entertainment.
Review Source:I stopped here on the way back back from Pismo Beach, on the way back to Huntington Beach to meet a friend. Â Pickwick is a good stopping point after leaving Pismo Beach about 2:30, driving 2 1/2 hours and taking a break instead of crawling through the 101 & 405 traffic during rush hour. Â This place is off the De Soto exit on the 101 and then make a right on Ventura Blvd.
Pickwick is a Brit Bar. Â They have Newcastle, Harp and Guiness to drink, and Bangers & Mash, Fish and Chips and other Brit food to eat. Â Plus there are quite a few Brits who seemed to be regulars. Â We ordered Harp and Stella - $4 during HH. Â The only downside was this place was a sausage fest. Â There were only two women that were worth looking at besides Jo the bartender: Â 4 Stars on ambiance. Â Jo the bartender is hawt (and she has a hawt accent!). Â But nobody messes with her despite her being the only person tending bar and serving others from before 5 until 6: Â 5 Stars on service. Â My friend and I were not that hungry so we only ordered hot wings - $5 during HH. Â The wings were pretty good. Â They were meaty, the chicken was moist but there was not that much heat: Â 4 Stars.
The next time I am too tired to sit through traffic on the 101 & 405 interchange, I would definitely return to Pickwick to throw a few back and have an appetizer. Â If you are more hungry, there are several places to eat like My Brothers Bar-B-Q, or other ones that you can walk to across the street (Persian, Indian, Thai and Pizza).
