Pretty cool bar for being the first bar I have ever been too. I went there on a Wednesday night when Cora was playing live music! It was loud but they kick butt so it's ok. Everyone just seem so drunk & happy I love that type of atmosphere. Unfortunately I can't drink for the next couple of months but I still had a lot fun there being sober. I would recommend this place to people who want have a good night out drinking.
Review Source:This place puts the D in Dive, and by that I think of dirty. Â I like dives, but when I was there I was not impressed with the condition of the bar. Â Just felt no one had so much as swept or wiped down the counters in far to long.
The staff was nice, if you don't mind a dirty dive you'll be happy. Â I was not really.
Okay, it's a dive, I get it, but sometimes I have to wonder what's going on here.
They have a good bar and great bartenders. Â The bouncers are a bit obnoxious, but that can happen. Â Clean-ish bathrooms, maybe better than you'd expect, maybe not, depends on the night. Â Pool tables, peanuts, booze, and live music is what you'd expect.
Except it's not.
Sometimes, you really have to wonder who chooses the bands and artists that perform here. Â It's an eclectic group to be sure, and some of them are so ridiculous you wonder if they play because they're cheap/free/friends of the employees.
It's an okay place to hang. Â Again, not terribly amazing, but if you hit the live music jackpot, it's a great dive. Â If not, drink up, shut up, or just keep on walking.
Terrible experience. Drove out of our way to visit because it was listed as dog friendly. Arrived with our small dog and there was a dog in the bar. As soon as we walked in, the bar tender (bearded, unkempt looking guy) said that no dogs were allowed. Refused to discuss why in that case, there was another dog wandering loose in the bar. Will never go again. Â He was unnecessarily rude and seemed extremely pleased with himself. Â Very odd little man.
Review Source:Had a pretty decent pitcher special going on and the bartender was laid back. We were having a pretty good time until we started noticing the bouncer's questionable choice in tattoos. I'm all about second chances and stuff, but if you are going to ink up your arms with neo nazi trash, then at least wear a long sleeve shirt.
Review Source:If you're looking for great service, or an upscale bar, don't go here. But, I'm a fan of dive bars with cheap drinks, and this place is exactly what you would expect from a typical dive bar. They have daily specials at cheap prices. You even get a discount if you bring in your own lunch. Head to Colima's across the street, then in here and enjoy your meal with a cheap beer... sounds good to me!
I most recently came here with 3 friends and we ordered a pitcher of Coors Light to share. Only $7... finished that one and ordered another pitcher. Total bill came to $14... can't beat that!
They also have peanuts at every table... who doesn't love peanuts with their beer?! The shells all over the ground make this great dive bar even divier, but that's what makes it great!
This place is AWFUL. We came in for a couple of drinks. They were offering $2 tequila shots. Trust me- I have had my fair share of tequila and this did NOT taste like any tequila I've ever had. It was warm, sweet, and watered down. My friend ordered a bloody mary and it straight up tasted like A1 sauce and tabasco. There is NO way there was even any alcohol in it.
The beer that was on special was conveniently "not pouring" so instead of offering any other types of beer for the same price, we were shit out of luck. HORRIBLE customer service if you ask me.
Plus the bartender that was working was incredibly rude and when we went to pay she literally snatched the cash out of our hands and never came back or said a word. Hopefully the bikini top she was wearing with her saggy-ass boobs hanging out got her tips elsewhere but not with us.
I'm never going back there again.
This place is terrible. Â First time I went, the bartender chic stole money out of my wallet. Â Second time I went one of the off duty bartebders was all strung out on drugs and broke a beer bottle over my head. Â I didn't even know her! Â A bunch of classless white trash work and hang out here. Â I would suggest staying away. Â Its nothin but trouble.... p.s. every bartender here and at firewater are cokeheads. Â Its gross... an sad.
Review Source:Decent dive bar in the Oceanside area, though your happy hour pricing is all jacked up.
They have happy hour here, Monday through Friday, 4-7pm. $2 domestics, and $4 imports. Well I started off with the Pacifica ($4) and then went with the Racer 5 ($4). Now correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Racer 5 a domestic, a northern California brew. Sure it has the word "India" on it's label, but that doesn't make it an import. So in other words, you charged me double.
But that's the bad side. All others, were pretty decent. Free peanuts, dog friendly, all the patrons were nice and approachable. Great place to hang out for happy hour. They got a couple of pool tables, several tv's and an electronic juke box as well.
The staff were engaged with everyone out there. Great location to go pub/bar crawling if required. And you can utilize the free street parking if you happen to be there after 6pm. Other than that, I may or may not come back depending on if I have any legitimate business up here in this neck of the woods. Or maybe come back on a random Tuesday, since it is free pool day.
I met up with Mike prior to our dinner. Street and lot parking are avail and free 2 hour parking until 6p, and thereafter, free. Â It was mid week and parking was readily avail.
Not to be conceited, but I'm not a "dive bar" kinda girl. Never really been into these types of bars per se so stepping inside this bar in business attire was really uncomfortable to begin with.
As I walked in, there were peanut shells all over the floor and a couple dogs walking around. As I grabbed a bar stool, a dog comes up and literally hops up and steals my chair - I KID YOU NOT! We attempted to take a pic, but I don't think the dog liked pics. I have to say, though, the bartenders here are nice and personable.
This place has free peanuts, HH specials (beer and pitchers), daily specials, a pool table, several TVs at the bar, and a good amount of tables/seating. It's located right on the corner of Pier View Way next to the liquor store and barber shop and across from the coffee shop.
Thanks Mike for introducing me into your "dive bar" ways, but unfortunately, it's not my sty. The National Geo specials were pretty entertaining and loved how you were easily amused with the painting elephant...
This bar is shut down temporarily.

To be honest, I'm not sure if this is even it's name anymore. The place has been revamped and changed so many times it would make Michael Jackson's nose spin. It's centered in downtown Oceanside so it's Marine central which also equates to fight central. Loud, obnoxious and stupid. Have fun!

I went to this dive bar with my friend and fellow Yelper, Steve F. The funny part is that my review will nearly sound the same as his review of this place.
Our only desire was to grab a drink after dinner. We stopped into this place since it was the closest bar we saw that night after walking in from the pier. We all ordered our beer. I ordered 2 lagers that night (one for me and the other  for my friend), and it came up to $10 with tip.
We found a table in the back corner, and we all enjoyed our drinks. There were 2 pool tables and both were in use that night. We sat near a stage so I am assuming on certain nights their possibly is a band playing but on that night we were there it was just loud rock music blaring from the speakers.
The floors are covered with peanut shells so expect to step on them. They did have a couple dogs in there, and they were not the tiny ones. I believe they were both bulldogs, and they pretty laid where ever they wanted. No one seemed to have a problem with the dogs since they didn't look harmful to anyone. Â
I've gone to other dive bars, and for the most part this place stands out the best. Probably because it's more spacious than others that I have gone to, and everyone seem to be more laid back.
My friends and I came here last week to have an after-dinner drink. Â While the prices here are pretty much the same as any other pub, one thing stood out for me - dog owners were bringing their pooches inside. Â Never before have I seen dogs brought inside a dive bar!
Lots of metal being played in here, and the restrooms are a bit hard to find.
Don't wear sandals- you will get peanut shells inbetween your toes. Not cute. Or comfy.
This is a beer and wine only place, that's alright by me.
It's not a fun dive, it's an alcoholic's bar...not sure what that says about me, but at least I was able to watch some of the NBA finals there.
I went here on the 4th of July after being on the beach camped out all day for a good spot for fireworks just to find out Oceanside doesn't do fireworks anymore. Nice. Anyway never been and had never yelped it so my fiance orders a beam and coke, bartender says no beam but we have rum. He was like ok, rum and coke whatever and a vodka a cranberry. We get our drinks and I am like what the? Why does this taste so wierd. Whatever just drink it and eat some peanuts. The music is pretty good. Alot of older locals which is cool as long as you quite freaking staring at me. Anywho back to the drinks. He goes to order another one and he watches her pour this time. OH that's why they taste wierd its not liquor it's that han wine crap. Now I dont mind a beer and wine bar but let me know when I order drinks that its not liquor, don't try to play it off like you are out of beam. That's why they get 2 stars, all the bartender had to say was we only have beer and wine but she was all shady. Other than that it was an okay place but won't be back.
Review Source:if you are in search of a dive, and just happen to be in Oceanside, you should stop by the Pier View Pub. Â Small, and homely. Â enough peanuts here to keep all the pachyderms in the county happy for a long time. Â PBR is served cold. Â a couple of pool tables, and lots of window seating so you can watch the rest of the world be productive while you waste away at a bar.
Review Source:This is a great dive bar. Peanut shells cover the floor and there is definately a casual vibe to the place. Beer and wine only, but two pool tables, live music and friendly bartenders. Mostly punk and hard rock bands. Good jukebox and a huge selection of beer.
Perfect place to see a band, drink some beers and maybe hit a couple of the other local bars up the block for a cocktail before the end of the night.
This place is a dive bar. So I had to stop and check it out. Lots of locals at this dive. They do have a guy at the door checking IDs so heads up. The crew is vary friendly and quick with the drinks. They also have buckets of peanuts around the bar. The jukebox was awsome lots of rock and metal. The only thing that got to me was the beer. It was not could enough. Â Hart braking :(
