I was very disappointed with the Pine Room, went there Sunday. We have been going to the pine room since it was a smoked filled hambuger joint. We were so happy that it changed to a non smoking nice food rest. We have been going every few weeks, during the summer. A few months ago we noticed a change, ask if there were new owners.
The rest. on Sunday night has a jazz band that is great. it used to have 50% bottle of wine, now its 25%. The food is just not that good anymore, you get about 1/2 of what you use to before, but the prices are the same. For same reason we get the same waitress, she never seems to be happy until she gives you the check.
My husband had the burger it was smaller then it use to be and rosemary fries were  great just not too many. I got a pasta dish with corn, which was ok. My friend got the mussels, ok we all know that you shouldn't order seafood on Sunday or Monday. She asked our not too helpfull waitress it they were fresh. The answer was I not sure what you are asking but yes they are fresh.  I will not get into that, but she was going to call the pine room today about them.
I hate to give bad reviews, but I want the old pine room back before the new owners this year. Why change a good thing. You were the best thing going in Nashville.
I was very disappointed after reading all the current, good reviews. Â I'm moving to Columbus and was down over my birthday weekend. Â Sadly, this is the place I chose to dine for my birthday dinner. Â
The atmosphere was nice, however that ended as soon as we were greeted by the hostess who was not pleasant AT ALL. Â Finally, our waitress came to take a drink order. Â My boyfriend and I each ordered a beer off of their really nice beer list and did get it promptly as well as our pathetic rosemary garlic fries appetizer. Â The fries were ok, but barely had a sniff of toppings. Â
Then the dinner order. Â I ordered a shrimp pasta dish that was so flavorful, however the shrimp were over cooked. Â My boyfriend ordered the fish special which was grouper with orzo. Â We also ordered 2 side salads since the meal does not come with anything.
So finally the food comes out... Â Mine was a perfect portion, however my boyfriend's looked like he ordered it off of the child's menu. Â I understand a small portion of fish, however put it over a nice helping of the orzo! Â It was MAYBE 1/2 cup. Â I don't know, maybe add some steamed veggies too or something?! Â So thank goodness I got full and gave the rest of my dinner to him so he was not starving.
Since our waitress was very absent most of our stay, we reluctantly ordered another beer (we were celebrating, after all)... Â We finished our beers and had to wait quite a long time with empty glasses to tell her we needed our bill. Â Mind you, the restaurant was not short on staff or super busy. Â Just your regular, steady night.
Then the bill came, this was the real turmoil. Â For most of the evening, our waitress was somewhere, who knows. Â It's a small restaurant and you can see almost every space including part of the kitchen, and she was nowhere. Â We finally flagged her down and after she got done probably making the paper and printing it on a printing press, we got "the check." Â The grouper was $30... let me repeat THE MEASLY GROUPER ENTREE WAS $30!!!! Â Since it was a special, the prices were not on a menu or anywhere to be found, but thought it would be similar, maybe a TAD more, than what was on the menu. Â If you must charge such an exorbitant amount for this entree, add some more frickin' orzo! Â Good lord, this stuff is pennies a serving!!!! Â Oh, and our waitress, who I should name but won't, should have at least given us Applebee's level service if we are ordering expensive entrees, drinks, and appetizers! Â Maybe I should have taken a cue from the people around us and ordered a cheap sandwich. Â Seems like they all got decent service. Â This place is definitely not on my list of places to return to or suggest to others. Â Very disappointed.
