While still your typical diner, their execution is very well done. We stopped here around 12:30 but were still given the option of breakfast. Their menus are separate and very simple, items aren't cluttered with pictures and the appearance is clean if a tad stark.

Service was prompt and pleasant, our party of 4 plus a child were given a larger table and it resulted in a comfortable lunch instead of cramped elbow rubbing shoved into a booth. They weren't very busy so this may have influenced the hostess's placement, but I appreciated it nonetheless. Drinks were prompt and coffee was ridiculously well attended to. I swear I drank an entire pot. It was good coffee, but nothing outstanding, though the little cups of creamer (regular, non-flavored) made for great building blocks that kept my 2 year old preoccupied until his much sought after mini-waffles arrived ($3 with bacon). The supplied handful of crayons and fun placemat served as a good foundation for his mini-cup castle (we use too much creamer...).

The food was brought over after a wait that was neither short nor long. The child's plate was 2 thick belgian style waffles about the size of an english muffin. The bacon wasn't as crispy as I prefer, but it was still gobbled up. My plate of Eggs Benedict looked a tad sparse with no side of hash browns or potatoes to accompany it, but they were surprisingly a solid representation of the classic dish. Definitely well worth the $6 even considering the lack of side. I was given the warning and option of side, but I suspected there would be extra waffle to be had (I was right). The rest of our party's meals seemed to please, my mom's turkey sandwich came with chips that were either the kettle cooked style or baked, possibly house-made with a tad of seasoning. My dad opted for "Loaded Fries" instead of the chips but this isn't a real substitution option and it resulted in waaaay too much food. He originally requested the philly shaved steak sandwich,  but they were out of the shaved steak and so ordered the chicken quesadilla. I think he had left overs for a couple meals. My husband had breakfast and I can't attest to the quality, but it came with potatoes that had peppers and such mixed in as well as perfectly (lightly) toasted white bread.

The one thing this place does that I've noticed is normal in diners that bugs me and confuses me and I just don't understand whyyyyy - the check. The server will place the ticket on the table upside down without any mention to the fact that you need to pay at the cashier near the door. We had been here once previously so I knew this was the case, but, if they insist on this practice, it would be absolutely lovely TO INCLUDE A SIMPLE INSTRUCTION ON THE BILL. Seriously, a little "Thank you for dining with us! Please pay cashier at front." when the server drops off the check would make everything clear. Well, how to pay at least. It's definitely not as big an issue as I am making it out to be, but just one of those little things that doesn't need to be an issue at all. But is. And I must admit I didn't see the check and so there very well may be a little note on the bill of where to pay.

Overall, a great place for a family brunch.

Local favorite. Good service and the food is standard fare for what you would expect at a diner. Very consistent experiences. Servers are willing to accommodate special orders. Price is right.
