This is one of your typical greek diners, but it is very good.
I love going here for breakfast. The prices are great, and so is the service. They are really busy everyday, but I never have a problem getting a seat.
The waitresses are prompt about coffee warmups, the food comes out relatively quickly, and they are very good about accommodating their guests (appropriate seating for the elderly, always bring necessary condiments over such as hot sauce, to go boxes, etc.)
The inside is pretty old but the booths are comfy. They switch up specials regularly, you get bang for your buck with the quantity, and I just enjoy coming here in general.
For breakfast you can get a hungry man for 8 bucks which is 3 pancakes or pieces of french toast, 3 eggs, 3 pieces of bacon or sausage and hashbrowns or homefries. I couldn't eat it all but I loved that little savory and sweet combo.
Swing by if yer on the west side.
I grew up in the Churchville-Chili area and when I was younger I loved going to the North Chili Family Restaurant, then again the thrill of going out anywhere at that age was enough to make me happy back then. Â I decided to check out how it was now last night for dinner and have to say the experience was a huge let down.
When we walked in we were promptly greeted and seated. Â The menus we were given were in terrible shape. Â I don't they have been reprinted in well over a decade, and plastic covers where barely holding them together. Â The items on the menu are your typical Rochester diner menu including everything from sandwiches and burgers to pasta and dinner plates.
Our food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. Â I ordered a Swiss burger on rye bread with French fries and my gf ordered a garden burger with mac salad. Â The Swiss burger was way over cooked to the point of just being rubbery and the layer of caramelized onions on it was thicker than the actual burger. Â The French fries were the typical frozen type and while tastier than the burger, still not very good. Â The garden burger had one immediately obvious issue. Â The two slices of tomato both had black spots on them about 1/2 an inch in diameter. Â After removing them and the lettuce they were sitting on (since it also had some black on it from the tomatoes being in contact, she ate the garden burger and found it to be edible, but not really tasty. Â The pasta salad was ok.
Our waitress overall was friendly and efficient, but when we mentioned and showed her the tomatoes and suggested she told the kitchen because it was obvious that at least this one tomato had something really wrong with it, she really seemed to brush us off and immediately dumped the plate in the trash without showing the issue to the kitchen. Â It is that kind of reaction that will keep a kitchen uninformed of their problems and continuing their low standards.
I cannot not recommend this place to anyone and that is very disappointing to me since I used to come here for breakfast all the time before heading off to high school back when I was young.
My boyfriend and I ate here twice and quite frankly it was worse the second time. The food is extremely bland and not really impressive. The omelet my boyfriend has was watered down and bares the resemblance of a crepe. Pancakes are mediocre; I believe the bacon is that of the microwaveable variety, and not to mention the home fries definitely came from a box in the freezer. The service was friendly, but definitely not the saving grace. The quality of the food is poor and  I would rather drive out of the way the extra 10 miles to Cracker Barrel for breakfast.
Update
So we went there last night for dinner because it was a last resort since everywhere in Rochester had a minimum of an hour wait. We both ordered broccoli cheddar soup and it was OK because it was lackluster. For my entrée I ordered the Hoagie Burger and my boyfriend ordered the Sky Burger. The burger itself was good, but lacked any flavor. I seriously do not think this place seasons anything. The fries and onion rings were at least hot, but one could tell that they were not freshly made. It's so disappointing. We ate here on three occasions for two different meals and it's safe to say we will not be eating here EVER again.
