New owners of the previous Piper Beau's and not too much has changed. The menu is larger with more lower priced and pub items. They have drink specials and $1 drafts sometimes too which is a mixed blessing. Â Mixed because the clientele is a bit rougher than when it was Piper Beaus.
I just had Cape Cod reuben sandwich and a beer and it was very good. I would return and maybe catch a game etc...
Piper's Restaurant & Bar is a total revamping of the former Piper Beau's that used to reside at 207 Main St. in Wareham. The new management team has taken what was good about the former and made it even better. Â
Atmosphere: Â Light and warm colors adorn the walls and compliment the rustic hard wood floors and bar. Â Soft lights with colorful accents shine down giving more of a homey feel. Â Soft music plays in the background that is not overbearing and several big screen TVs surround the seating area.
Staff: Â polite, friendly, and knowledgeable. Â If you are a regular, there is no doubt that head bar staff Tara, Emily, or Marae will have your "usual" waiting for you as you walk in the door. Â During the major entertainment nights (Thursday, Friday, Saturday), it can be a little hectic, but nothing the bar staff can't handle. Â You won't be waiting forever for your drink.
Food: Â This first glaring thing you'll notice is a multi-page menu. Â The former Piper Beau's had a one pager with several upscale items that didn't really appeal to the average Joe. Â This menu has apps, salads, sandwiches, burgers, entrees, and more. Â All at reasonable prices. Â There's even a kids menu. Â I have frequented Piper's on several occasions and have not been disappointed. Â
For dinner I had the bbq short ribs that were so tender that I was cutting them with my fork. Â My wife had the shrimp, chicken, and broccoli alfredo. Â I got to sample that as well and it was great. Â The portion was so big that we ate it as a family the next day for lunch. Â My wife had their multi-rum signature beverage "Mermaid Juice." Â This blend of rums has a strong fruity taste that masks the alcohol, but if you have a couple you'll feel that alcohol for sure. Â The bar had several tap and bottle beers to choose from. Â The Ass-Kisser beer caught my eye and turned out to be a nice, vanilla flavored ale. Â Can't say I've seen it at any other bar in the area. We also split a delicious crispy pork app with a sweet/spicy asian sauce. Â
I returned to Piper's for a quick lunch later in the week. Â They usually run a few specials so I kept it simple with a Turkey on Rye with Italian wedding Soup. Â All for less than ten dollars. Â The food was out quick and was a fresh as you could suspect. Â I find that sometimes that kind of soup can have more pasta then meat, but here it was the other way around. Â
My wife and I recently went back for drinks and a little snack. We ordered the bar's signature "Mermaid Juice" to prep ourselves for the beer tasting we were attending later in the evening elsewhere. Â We decided to split the nachos app. Â It was just for the two of us, but you could easily split this with 4-6 people. Â It was huge! Â Nice crispy chips with cheese, jalapenos, olives, salsa, and sour cream. Â We snacked on that one all night.
Nightlife: Â There's always a little something happening at Piper's late night. Â Which is a good thing for Wareham because a lot of the other bars in the area can't say the same thing. Â And there's a little something for everyone. Â Sunday's is trivia, Wednesday night is country night, Thursday is a DJ dance party, and Friday and Saturday nights feature an array of local cover bands.
Piper's Restaurant & Bar has grown leaps and bounds above its predecessor by appealing to a broader and more common consumer. Â The expanded food choices, the great bar and wait staff, and the wide variety of entertainment simply cannot be matched. Â Stop in and see for yourselves, you won't be disappointed.
