I've been coming to PJ's for the past four years regularly. I think the food and the atmosphere are fantastic for Narragansett. The pizzas, sandwiches, and burgers are great and always consistent. There is definitely a great menu selection, and not so much that it is overwhelming to make a decision like some places. They also do a great job with coming up with daily specials. I'd say one of the best menu items is the Greek Spinach Pie, it is made with phyllo dough, and served with a small side salad. Definitely reasonably priced, which is great. Another great menu item is the Shrimp Scampi Pizza.
During football season, there is a nice $3 mini menu where you can order mini pizzas, calzones, and wings (30 cents each). I think they've done a great job establishing a nice local following as well as tourists during the summer months.
We were in Narragansett a couple of weeks ago for a week's vacation - and we had NEVER been to PJ's Pub!! Â It's just around the corner from where we stay in the summertime. Â We were planning to go to Markos' but they had moved away :-( - Crazy Burger is just CRAZY busy - so we actually ended up at PJ's by default. Â WELL, we were so very pleasantly surprised with PJ's. Â It was my once a summer time to get fried clams, and these did not disappoint. Â Whole fat belly clams, deep fried in a light batter and served with homemade french fries (and something else, but I'm writing about the important stuff!!) were to die for. Â I was more than pleased with my dinner, and the wait staff was oh so efficient and friendly. Â Initially my clams arrived not as hot as I would like and I hailed down the waitress. Â She whisked them away and whisked back some piping hot fresh clams. Â THEN the owner's son/chef ambled over and apologized to me for the temperature of the first order. Â I was blown away. Â My hubby had fish and chips and he was very pleased as well. Â (He does't rave a lot, so if he doesn't complain I always assume it's good.) Â Convenient and delicious as PJ's was for us, we went back yet another night. Â This time I had linguine with white clam sauce. Â This delicious dish was packed with delicious perfectly cooked steamed clams on top of a heaping helping of linguine with yet more clams incorporated into the sauce. Â I ate every single bite on my plate (I was a piggy that week). Â My husband had a plain old burger with fries and a salad, and again, no complaints from this guy (so assume it was excellent!!). Â I am extremely happy with PJ;s Pub. Â It does what it does, well, and I have no complaints. Â I am only leaving off a star because of the first helping of room temperature clams. Â I really did like this place. Â I tend to get overzealous when I really like a place, and don't want to go overboard and tell you this is haute cuisine or gourmet gourmet. Â It is simply a fine pub, with better than pub food, good drinks, good service, and a really friendly vibe. Â I will definitely always go back there whenever I am in Narragansett for an extended period (like a week) and I might even give it five stars next time. Â HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - I don't think you can wrong at PJ's Pub. Â xxxxx
