Awesome food. Had truffle Mac & cheese, pretzel bites, & bacon, avocado shrimp as apps. All delish. For entree I had chicken tidbits. Friends had the Cuban, steak sandwich &  the dip. Everyone was extremely happy. For beer I had a pumpkin ale with sugar:cinnamon Rimmed glass=Yum!. Lots of tv screens for football.

    Worst service ever.
Staff knows nothing about the beers.
    Food is average.
    Very disappointing in every respect.
Staff and owners are inexperienced and unmotivated.

I agree this place has only gotten better since it debuted last summer, when the menu was not that expansive or desirable.

Seems like anything with fish is the way to go here, at least during the summer. Crab cakes were good--lots of fresh crab, little breading, and the white fish in the fish and chips is good, too.

And thanks for having Purple Haze on tap!

The beer selection is fantastic, the food is disgusting.  The first time I visited, I had the baked clams.  They were loaded with filling and had a teeny, tiny clam.  The second, and last time I will ever eat at this place, I had the tomato soup and the lobster roll.  The tomato soup was decent, but they came with "grilled cheese bites" which were frozen mini bagels that were heated in the oven with prepackage american cheese.  It was horrible.  The "lobster roll" was a mayonnaise sandwich with scraps of what I hope was lobster meat.  However, there were no true pieces of lobster meat.  Plus, it was $18.00!  A total rip off and completely inedible.  Do not waste your money on food at this debacle.

Chef Frank Pignataro is a creative genius in the kitchen. We've been here on numerous previous occasions, including Sunday Brunch and have always enjoyed the food experience. This night my wife and I shared Kung Pao Calamari. It just doesn't get any better then that as an appetizer. For dinner we had the Lobster Roll with bacon and avacado. Bacon!!!  It was a massive culinary monument  loaded with sweet lobster. It came with fries and delicious cole slaw. The fries were perfectly done and piping hot. The Lobster Roll is perhaps the best on Long Island. Our server Marisa was friendly and efficient. The bar is well stocked and has a huge selection of premium beers on tap. It may lack the view of some other local spots but the food is incredibily better, not even close. We highly recommend this Point Lookout restaurant.

This is  the best new restaurant and bar on the island. The owner and staff are all friendly.  A mature family-friendly place with a great menu. My only suggestion is that more grilled or baked seafood be added to the menu.

A first rate alehouse in Pointlookout.  Since not many people live in Point Lookout and even fewer seem to come there for the beaches etc,  there haven't been many restaurants or bars that don't seem aimed at the local population.   This was a pleasant surprise -- 20 beers and ales (the ale selection was especially good) on tap and quite excellent and imaginatively prepared food.   It was quite crowded when I got there but there was room at the bar -- and service was excellent-- the salad was good but a bit expensive -- though this seems to be a characteristic of Irish bars -- they charge a lot for salads -- the salad was the same $12  that it is at the Irish Cottage or Banter in Forest Hills -- in fact, you got a little more salad for your $12 than you would at the places in Forest Hills -- they all make an excellent salad but you pay for it.   I think all the ales on tap were $7 a pint.  I don't know if there are happy hours.     the bad thing about drinking in Port Lookout is that there is only an occasional bus to the train station --so for a night out drinking,  I would probably stick with the West End

Really good energy, and really cold beers! Good place to sit at the bar and watch a game.

One complaint- the way the dining room is arranged is just a little weird. There is a pool table right in the middle, also the tables kind of bleed into the bar area. Was there with my family, and as the bar got crowded, it kind of spilled over into the dining area.

Otherwise, can't wait for the warm weather so they can open those front windows.

I love everything about this place!
The bar is really nice, great selection of beer on tap and to top it off some of the best food in the area.  I have had so many things I love - The chowder, the truffle mac, the sliders, seared peppered tuna and fish tacos to name a few.  The specials are always good.  Definitely has become one of my favorite places to eat in the area!

This is one of my new favorite places.

    - GREAT BEER SELECTION
    - Bloody Mary's made to order
    - I've only had the pleasure of having their food once - we had truffle mac and cheese and pretzel bites - both fresh and delicious.
    - OK - The bartender is fantastic.  I ordered GSB Blood Orange Pale Ale and it turned out the keg was kicked! :(  Don't worry, the bartender set up a little tasting for me to find another beer I'd like just as much and I did!  He really went out of his way to make sure we were having a good time.  It is really great to go to a local place and be taken care of like this.
    - The restaurant is CLEAN and new and has a great vibe and excellent clientele.  It's not too loud, not too quite, just right, like the porridge!

    Thank you, POINT ALE HOUSE!

When I last visited back in September, 2012, the menu selection wasn't much to talk about and the food ok. I revisited this past week and was pleasently surprised! The whole menu has been revamped. There are several styles of wings, not just hot, medium or mild, but kung poa, garlic and bbq to name a few. The portions are big and flavorful and the presentation nice. i had the ABC burger (avacado, bacon and cheese), it was gigantic and very good. There were other selections of hot sandwhiches including chicken, cuban, steak and pulled pork. Hot plates consisted of beer battered fish, chicken, pasta and mussels. All in all they really improved on selection, quality, presintation and portions.

Point Ale House is a welcome addition to Long Beach Island. The decor makes you feel comfortable as soon as you enter (and it helps if you are a NY Giants fan).  We had dinner there a few days ago and the salmon cakes were the best I've ever had. I hope the chef reads this and makes this dish part of the permanent menu.
