I think that everyone has expectations about what a ski resort bar is going to be like, you know, a little crunchy, a little rowdy, that kind of thing.
Well, the Powder Room ain't that. It's a little odd to find a high end lounge atmosphere right at the base of a ski mountain, but that's what you'll get there.
The place is a little hard to find, but once you get inside, you'll be pretty amazed at the atmosphere. Apparently the space is used as a high end private ski club during the day, but at night the new owner brings the lights down and the music up and then it becomes a great place to grab a drink after you've had a chance to clean up.
So, if you're looking for an upscale (but not pretentious) place to get a drink in Steamboat, the Powder Room is legitimately hard to beat.
One of the best bars in Steamboat........hands down!
Only thing better than a powder day in Steamboat is having a cocktail to end the night at the Powder Room.
With the decor at level of any night club in a big city the feel is carried back down to a ski town ambiance. An elegant bar scene while some cozy up to the best fireplace in Steamboat to enjoy the multiple TVs playing music videos from past decades.
by far my favorite place to stop in a for a cocktail while skiing the Champagne Powder!
I like jam bands and reggae as much as the next guy (OK, I really can't stand reggae. Â Well, I can't really stand that one reggae song. Â Because there really is only one reggae song. Â All of it sounds exactly the same.), but after a few days of hanging out at bars in ski towns it gets a little old. Â The dirt hippies love that crap though, which is why it is everywhere in every ski town. Â This place is a welcome break from the usual ski town bar atmosphere. Â
Located just off the slopes, it has more of an upscale lounge feel with clubby music and an urban atmosphere, which is a rarity in a ski town. Â The extremely friendly staff provides great service, and the drinks are reasonably priced for a place this close to the slopes. Â A few tasty tapas style plates are available if you get hungry. Â Add the fact that the owner/bartender has an uncanny resemblance to Will Ferrell and you've got the makings of a pretty nice little Saturday...
