The food was great, however, our waiter was a total douchebag. There was a waitress named Mckinley I think whos real hot and real great. Too bad we didnt get her. We got some guy in his 40s whos a total douche the whole time. First, he slams our menus down so hard they bounce and he just walks away. My girlfriend asks for hot sauce and what he brings us was not hot sauce.  It was in a hot sauce bottle, but it was all brown and gross, so we grabbed some off another table.  Then, our food took forever but it was very good food. I had the reuben and my gf had the burger. When we asked for ketchup the waiter said they were all out, even though theres plenty on every other table. So he starts yelling about how hes gonna close the restaurant down cause theyre so busy. I can hear him screaming in the back about us. Then he comes back and is such a Ahole to my gf. Hes like" is everything up to your high standards" as though she were being a b****  but she was being so nice.  I wish we got the other hot waitress, our experience would have been much better. The food was good, a tad pricey but good. I will not return though

The steak and cheese sandwich was very good.  My son said they have the best onion rings.  For an all American lunch it was pretty good, kids will like this place.

Private Quinn's is a GREAT place! The outdoor seating is wonderful. The prices were great and they had a couple great vegetarian options! Our service was prompt and the food was good. We will go back!

I'm not one to write poor reviews... and there isn't much available in Harper's Ferry.  The building is a cool old building (that's all they have there), but the menu is your basic pub fare. They were out of chicken strips which I had wanted so I got the chicken club.  It was a moist chicken breast, with undercooked bacon, cheese and lettuce, tomato and a mayo on a pretzel bun.  It was ok - nothing great.  They said they had homemade chips - but sadly they were on the soft side.  Could have been better.

We came here today with a group of friends after a few hours of hiking. I ordered the fish and chips, which was a bit of a gamble, but what came out was a larger than expected piece of fish, and it wasn't mushy. (Considering fish and chips are seldom hit and often miss, this was an acceptable quality to me.) Others ordered the Reuben, which was interesting because it came with coleslaw on it and not sauerkraut, but people seemed to enjoy it just fine. The sandwiches were a bit overpriced, but the ambiance was nice and cozy, and the server was incredibly friendly.

Delicious Reuben. A bit slow when they are busy, but it's because the food is made to order. Little pricey, but that's to be expected in a tourist town.

Crappy tourist trap. Expensive food and poor service.

So mediocre but much better than Secret Six Tavern. Sit outside.

Danny M. and I stopped at Private Quinn's to get lunch while in Harper's Ferry.  As other reviewers have pointed out, the food is pretty good but overpriced.  I would give the food 3.5 stars but downgrade it half a star for value.

Danny M. and I ordered a crab cake sandwich and chicken club.  Both were very tasty and hit the spot after starving all afternoon.  We got a side of the apple BBQ dipping sauce which complimented the chicken club sandwich and fries very well.

This place was ok. Ruben was good, could have stood alone without the potato pancake on it (but Jen liked it so who really knows haha).  Fries were shoestring, not my fave, but adequate.  Weird thing...Jen ordered and asked for cole slaw instead of fries and was told there was no cole slaw.  Sooo...the sandwich shows up with a side of fries and low and behold, there is cole slaw on the sandwich?!?  I chalked this up to the waitress being annoyed by us sharing a sandwich, and not being able to serve beer, but who knows.  Admittedly, I was kind of annoyed that there was no beer served until after 1:00 on Sunday, but that is a reflection on WV, not this place.  Expect the usual West Virginia and tourist crowd...bring earplugs...

The place is charming - a beautiful view from the upper deck with lots of shade from umbrellas.  We listened to "Jeff" play his acoustic guitar....excellent performer.  The food was actually very good, but way overpriced for what we got.  $13 for a cheese steak that had only a few slivers of steak (although they were quality slivers - not Steak -umm) on the tiniest sub roll I have ever seen, $8 for potato cakes that were like flattened-out tater tots, and $11 for a grilled chicken caesar salad that was served in an 8" cereal bowl.  An $11 veggie sandwhich, described as "seasoned roasted vegetables", consisted of lettuce, tomato, red peppers, mushrooms, and cheese.  Don't even think about splitting - the portions are just too small.  The bill was $90 for 4 adults and 3 kids, and nobody came away full.

Don't go in if it's crowded. The service was really slow (but the server was nice when we saw her). The fries were cold and they ran out of corned beef but brought me a turkey Reuben without asking if that would be ok. The Cold Trail Ale was nice though.

The 4 star rating is really for the outstanding Reuben sandwich I had. It was probably the best I've ever had. Delicious. I'd definitely go back to have it again if in the area.

They also had locally brewed draft beer, which was great.

The service was friendly and entertaining. The service staff was a bit snarkey with one another, which was not really very professional, but was quaint and somehow okay.

The place could have been cleaner though. There was a fly strip set out with dead flies all over it, ewww...

Aside from the dead flies though, the place was worth a return trip.

Hmm. The food was decent, but the prices are a bit painful.

I ordered the burger, and by burger standards it was good enough to grunt approvingly over.  The atmosphere is pretty nice and appropriate for the area.  Not sure about any of the other restaurants in the area, but you could count this one as a dependable.

Like I said though, the prices match the assumption that you're a tourist and is willing to pay for it.  That left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Sorry guys..3 stars.

I was on a semi-date so to speak, nothing so formal or official. It was early evening and I balked at the menu prices for the location, but it was almost raining and whatnot, my companion wanted beer so what the hell?

My companion had a draft and ordered a steak and cheese which was too big for her to finish. I was debating between the Irish Pie and the Fish and Chips. Since I was craving food from a chipper, I finally went with the fish and chips.

Now my fish was pretty good, the portion was pretty big, but the breading was a tad thicker than a real Irish F&C--too thick for traditional British F&C, but it was fine. The chips on the other hand, were over done, and near burnt. Overall the food was acceptable, but not worth $13.

The location was right across the street from the train station, so we entered from the street side. It was a tad confusing to find or way upstairs to the bar and quarters were a bit cramped, but cozy.

While, I'm sure this establishment is quite acceptable for the out-of-towners or retired tourists with disposable incomes, I for one have had better and in retrospect would have rather gone to the Long John Silvers for fish and chips. I may give them a second chance and try the Irish Pie next time.

Only reason they didn't get 5 stars is that they are not open all of the time.  Otherwise, it is the best place (I think out of 2 or 3) within the 2 block area of downtown HF.

Overpriced?  Yes.  Mediocre food?  Yes.  Favorite restaurant in Harpers Ferry?  Still yes.  I have spent many a pleasant summer or fall day sitting on the deck of this pub enjoying a hard cider.  It's just a fun place to go.  And as other reviewers pointed out, the steep prices are in line with the rest of the town.  You can always split an appetizer and stick to beer...it's a perfect way to end a day of hiking and sightseeing.  You won't be sorry!

Tasty food, good portion, priced reasonably for touristville.

There aren't too many options in the little town of Harper's Ferry for food, but this looked promising, so we stopped.  Great Reuben and awesome fish and ships.  We also got this corned beef dip appetizer.  I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was.  I don't know if it was because I was so hungry, or what, but the food tasted amazing.

A word of caution though.  Although the food is great, they definitely charge tourist prices.  I've never paid $13 for a Reuben before.  It was good though.  Oh, and one more thing, the atmosphere is a bit weird.  It's built into an old house, as is everything else in HF.
