I came here recently to try the food on a few peoples recommendation of a great party room. Im shocked for the low ratings on yelp. Â It was a Sunday night with my mom, There was a party in the party room which looked nice and everything was very modern and clean. We were really the only "diners" but were excited to try the food since we were looking for a nice place to have a bridal shower.
I ordered the chicken cutlet parm and mom ordered the cavatelli with sausage and broccoli rabe. Both were delicious. No complaints about the food! The staff were super nice and showed us a "party" photo album to give us an idea of what the party room looked like. Â
My moms only complaint were that the bathrooms were very tiny. Â Im not sure what kind of nightlife this place is or the type of patrons that come here but my review is for the food, the staff and the decor. Â The party room is nice and big and bright, unlike most of the others we have seen. Needless to say we booked the shower here.
Im sure it will be great.
My first Yelp! And what a great night to comment on, Valentine's Day. Let me be honest - the food was GREAT, and I would definitely go back to this place*.
Okay so now to the down side, we were not forewarned (we forgot to check yelp because we received a gift card) that the average age here is 75. I really didn't think anything of it when we first arrived, the place was just starting to fill up. Only halfway through my ah-may-zing garlic bread (topped with arugula, olives, tomatoes) did I look around and realize we were the youngest couple - by 30 years, at least. It became comical to us then but we did manage to be completely satisfied by our meals. I had the Shrimp di Puglia, which was equally pleasing as the garlic bread appetizer. Our bellies were really happy when we left, so all in all, I can't say I wouldn't go back*.
Sidenote: Service was OK at best, they seemed frazzled from the V-Day crowd.
* Patron will only frequent location when accompanied by guests 65+
City Cafe under new management is now called Puglia's etc. On the face of it the place sounds similar to what it once was but with these changing times as with most businesses they have decided to cater to a younger crowd, or at least try.
It is the only (that I know of) dinner and dancing restaurant with live music inthe area.
They have valet parking and a necessary coat check room (tables positions don't allow for much room to hang your coats on the chairs but who really wants to?)
The food is only okay (and such small portions! Kidding.) Â But the menu is limited and substitutions are not allowed. (A special chicken dish sounded tame so I requested it be made with veal - fuggedaboutit!)
Open 7 days a week they do offer 5 nights of live entertainment as did the previous management. Â But under Puglia they must think they can charge more if the music IS LOUDER!!!!!
The dance floor is slightly smaller than it had been before so that more tables could be crammed in. Â The bar is still nice but being located directly in front of the amps you may have to learn sign language in order to order a drink.
Don't get me wrong, it still is a place to visit ONCE and have the experience for yourself but if you are disappointed that the changes were not for the good do not blame me, I warned you.
