Rachel's Cafe has great coffee, coffee drinks, and light noshes like quiche & cookies. We tried the weekend omelet bar, and decided it needs work. The omelet themselves were great-- freshly prepared and good ingredients.
What was strange was that the toast that came with it was almost like Wonder White Bread, the kind that can be easily compressed as thin as paper. The Smuckers Jams/Jellies that came with were also past-prime. Then there were home fry-like potatoes that hadn't been properly prepared, giving them that dense, rubbery feel, uncooked feel, although the seasonings were good. The price was just $6.95. With a could of small improvements, they could be stellar and a very high value.
Rachel's also has an enormous variety of entertainment; look for online schedules of what's when. It's a bit anarchistic, but fun.
I really expected something different from this joint. I went in a few hours ago to get a coffee to go, got it in a beer glass, no biggie maybe the cashier didn't hear me. So I was handed a to go cup filled about 2/3 full. whatever, just get me out of here I have a paper to write.
The cashier tried to assist me to the best of her ability, she said they didn't have ice but they had some coffee in the fridge. I appreciate that she worked around a situation to help a customer (no ice? how does that happen? There were maybe 10 people in the whole place) The coffee was seriously the WORST coffee I've ever had.
Someone that reviewed before me commented on the big windows. This place looks like a sauna from outdoors. I drive by & always wonder what is wrong with this place. I wish they could find a better way of insulating the place instead of using plastic. Tacky, tacky, tacky.
Maybe I just got stale coffee, I dont know. I want to give this place another shot, my co-workers LOVE Rachaels & I want to experience whatever they see in this place.
I like the place, and I like the "vibe." But I hate the coffee. Last time I was there I just could not finish it (I got a latte). I may come back here from time to time as the place is great to sit at (love the big windows), but I will stay away from coffee. I really wanted to give Rachael's more stars, but if a cafe serves terrible coffee, it is very hard.
